Dallas Mavericks History
The Mavericks joined the NBA as an expansion franchise in the 1980–81 season, becoming the league’s third team in Texas, joining the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets. The Mavericks struggled in their inaugural season, but quickly improved with Mark Aguirre, who became the franchise's first All-Star and took the team to their first playoff series in the 1983–84 season. The Mavericks went on to qualify for the playoffs for four more consecutive seasons, culminating in a trip to the Western Conference Finals in 1987–88. They came within one win of the NBA Finals, losing to the Lakers in seven games.
Dallas struggled throughout the '90s, but a new era began when the Mavericks acquired Dirk Nowitzki in 1998. Ownership of the team was sold to Mark Cuban in January of 2000. Cuban immediately began to revitalize the franchise, building around a central trio of Nowitzki, point guard Steve Nash and wing Michael Finley. In Cuban's inaugural year owning the Mavericks, they made the playoffs for the first time in 11 years. This began a streak in which they qualified for the playoffs for 12 consecutive seasons. In the 2011 NBA Finals, they defeated the HEAT in six games to win the only championship in franchise history.
Nowitzki retired in 2019 and passed the torch to Luka Dončić, who led the Mavericks to four straight playoff berths, including the 2022 Western Conference Finals and 2024 NBA Finals.

Enjoyed the game and the entertainment between time-outs and at half-time. And it always helps when the Mavs win.
We are French that is our first Basket Ball event. It was an unbelievable experience.
I had a great experiance last nite at the AAC even though the team I wanted to win lost !.. I do plan on returning for more games in the near future with more friends this time !!
Okay so this could be a biased review b/c I love the Mavs, but the event was great!! I took my husband for the first time and got him to love the game and the Mavs!! We had great seats in the lower level and the Mavs did great even though they lost.
we are Chinese fan of nba and visitor in Dallas, and we had a wonderful night at AAC. what i like is to contact with stars, that give me the courage of purchasing one more game at AAC. I also care of DirkNowitzki's injury.
My friends and I had a great time at the Mavs/Rockets game last night! We will def be back!
This was my first ever live basketball game, 40 years in the Dallas area and 62 years old. It was wonderful, so exciting and such an all-encompassing atmosphere. I would love to make Mavs games a regular part of my sports entertainment.
Too many technical fouls called. A poorly called game. Dallas as a team did well with the absent of their star player (Dirk).
This was my first time going to an NBA game in person, and I enjoyed every moment of it: great seats, food, drinks, and the spirit of the crowd. The only thing that would have been better was if the Mavs won, but I had a great time anyway.
I was just visiting Dallas for a long weekend. The game was a last minute idea for something to go do. Got tickets for $15 each. Yes, we were in the nosebleed section, but you could see everything in the arena. The game was great. It was good entertainment for an affordable price.
I had a great time at the game, it went down to the last seconds. The seat were great and for a very reasonable price. I'm trying to get tickets to another game already!!!!!
it was very easy, got my tickets very fast and walked right in. i would do this again in a heartbeat
It was great game. The American Airline Center is very clean including the restrooms.
I have always enjoyed American Airlines for numerous events and the Mavericks are no exception. There was always something going on to keep you entertained and there's no lack of energy and enthusiasim.
We were able to take part in a special ticket offer for the Mavs - 2 Platinum level tickets for free, just a small processing fee. So for $6.94 we were able to sit in the Platinum level to watch the Mavs take on Chris Paul and the Hornets. Seats were terrific - service was amazing - LOVED IT!!
These tickets were a gift and sitting in the nosebleed section will not be an option in the future
Loved the game it was Great. We had a Good time. And didn't have ot wait in a long line.
Mavs are playing great basketball! Let's go Mavs!!!!
great game, great value, best $2 dollars i ever spent.
I purchased the tix during the Black Friday sale online. It was a really good deal for platinum seats. They were a gift for my friend's 30th birthday. We're both Dallas Mavs fans but we still love Nash. We were very torn that nite but, glad it was a Dallas victory.
