Dallas Mavericks History
The Mavericks joined the NBA as an expansion franchise in the 1980–81 season, becoming the league’s third team in Texas, joining the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets. The Mavericks struggled in their inaugural season, but quickly improved with Mark Aguirre, who became the franchise's first All-Star and took the team to their first playoff series in the 1983–84 season. The Mavericks went on to qualify for the playoffs for four more consecutive seasons, culminating in a trip to the Western Conference Finals in 1987–88. They came within one win of the NBA Finals, losing to the Lakers in seven games.
Dallas struggled throughout the '90s, but a new era began when the Mavericks acquired Dirk Nowitzki in 1998. Ownership of the team was sold to Mark Cuban in January of 2000. Cuban immediately began to revitalize the franchise, building around a central trio of Nowitzki, point guard Steve Nash and wing Michael Finley. In Cuban's inaugural year owning the Mavericks, they made the playoffs for the first time in 11 years. This began a streak in which they qualified for the playoffs for 12 consecutive seasons. In the 2011 NBA Finals, they defeated the HEAT in six games to win the only championship in franchise history.
Nowitzki retired in 2019 and passed the torch to Luka Dončić, who led the Mavericks to four straight playoff berths, including the 2022 Western Conference Finals and 2024 NBA Finals.

We took DART -- and the game was well into 1st quarter when we arrived. All the street crossing lights were out. So, dang, we missed the bobblehead handouts. Love the Mavs so much worth the wait to be there.
Exciting game...even up to the last three seconds. Go MAVS.
They always had something going on even when the Mavericks were not in a time out. Lots of freebies to make you think you were getting your money's worth. Only down side was that only a few of the freebies seemed to make it to the upper level stands.
The waitstaff in section 216 was great. I didn't have to leave my chair the whole game.
Had a great time at the game. We were in section 319, nomally sit in the 113 section. There's really not a bad seat in the AA Center. Had a blast.
Great game, great arena. The place was poppin' down to the last second. The Mavs should be able to create some separation against bad teams. The game was exciting till the very end.
I had a great time at the mavs game last night as the mavs pulled out a one point win. I hadn't been to a mavs game in a few years, so it was a treat. My only complaint is that there is so much marketing overload that you almost forget there is a game going on. The most annoying feature was when the announcer chants defense everytime the other team has the ball. This chant should be reserved for the key points in a game or to get the team fired up when they need a stop, not every single possession. My friend and I were totally sick of listening to this guy every time. We did like the addition of the Mavs Drumline, which gave the game an almost college rah rah feel which you don't usually get at NBA games. Overall, great experience, put they do go over the top on some of their promotions during timeouts, which makes me feel like I'm at a minor league baseball baseball game.
Better game than expected based on team records. Really like Platinum level
Great seats. It's alwasy a great game when the Mavs comeback and win. I do wish the Mavs would start playing the first three quarters like they play the fourth. We ate in the Dump Lounge and the food was very good.
I dont go to Dallas very often but I would go back again and again to see the Mavs play in AA arena. The parking is very accomodating, It doesnt take long to get out once the game is over and the location is very convenient. The seats we had were very good for being upper level. I really dont think you'll find a bad seat in that arena though. There was constant entertainment, before you knew it, 3 hours flew by and the game was over. My wife and I had an excellent time and are looking forward to going back soon.
the mav were losing the home game till the end just like most of the game at home this season. they should be able to get ahead early and stay ahead to win the game at home. but seing at the game live is a lot of fun.
It was a great game even though the Mavs lost. Congrats to Dirk for scoring 20,000 points.
The whole experience was really fun. It was raining when we arrived and we were worried about parking. The Blue parking lot was managed very efficiently and we got a spot pretty close to the entrance. The entire experience was top quality. There were lots of options for food and drinks as well as snacks. The entertainment during breaks was fun to watch. My family and I really enjoyed our first NBA experience.
Had a great time. Seats weren't the best, but as good as you can get for the low price.
Excellent game, great seats!!! Got a high five from Nowitzki!!!!
WE HAD A GREAT TIME FOR CHEAP!! $2 TICKETS CANT BEAT THAT.
The ticketmaster process was simple and efficient. The experience was great.
We really enjoyed the game, and the seats were great! I wish there was more variety in the Halftime events, and that the upper levels could get a better percentage of the give a ways (free t-shirts, chili's coupons, etc). The drum line was great and I would like to see more of the Mavs maniacs (and less of ally D).
It was a little cold outside, and I still convinced my wife to go. We had a blast. We yelled throughout the game and had great conversation during timeouts. I'm a big K. Durant fan and my wife loves Jason Terry,so we had a little bet going on on who would have a better game.Overall the experience was wonderful....Look forward to the next game.
