Dallas Mavericks History
The Mavericks joined the NBA as an expansion franchise in the 1980–81 season, becoming the league’s third team in Texas, joining the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets. The Mavericks struggled in their inaugural season, but quickly improved with Mark Aguirre, who became the franchise's first All-Star and took the team to their first playoff series in the 1983–84 season. The Mavericks went on to qualify for the playoffs for four more consecutive seasons, culminating in a trip to the Western Conference Finals in 1987–88. They came within one win of the NBA Finals, losing to the Lakers in seven games.
Dallas struggled throughout the '90s, but a new era began when the Mavericks acquired Dirk Nowitzki in 1998. Ownership of the team was sold to Mark Cuban in January of 2000. Cuban immediately began to revitalize the franchise, building around a central trio of Nowitzki, point guard Steve Nash and wing Michael Finley. In Cuban's inaugural year owning the Mavericks, they made the playoffs for the first time in 11 years. This began a streak in which they qualified for the playoffs for 12 consecutive seasons. In the 2011 NBA Finals, they defeated the HEAT in six games to win the only championship in franchise history.
Nowitzki retired in 2019 and passed the torch to Luka Dončić, who led the Mavericks to four straight playoff berths, including the 2022 Western Conference Finals and 2024 NBA Finals.

Great game and atmosphere. Crowd was amazing and the music was great. Can't wait until I attend the next game!
Great game, great seats. It was fun seeing the new Mavs in action.
As a Mavs fans for years, I love going to games and was excited to have the opportunity to buy tickets on the lower level for a reduced fee. The seats were in what I'll call the "endzone" bleacher seats, meaning behind the basket. The angle was terrible and you could barely even see what was going on at the basket nearest you, let alone figure out what was happening at the other end of the court. I will definitely be going back to Mavs games, but enjoying them from my "regular" seats in the third deck.
pLATINUM SEATS ARE OVERRATED. lOWERBOWL MAY NOT HAV EALL THE AMENITIES BUT IF YOUARE THERE TO WATCH THTE GAME THE VEIW IS BETTER. bESIDES IF YOU WANTED THE AMENITIES IN THE PLATINUM LEVEL YOU COULD JUST GO TO AN UPSCALE SPORTS BAR.
I enjoyed going and so did my friend. The only thing is the mavs lost to the timberwolves.
I've been twice this year (for the first time at age 55) and LOVED it both times; but we lost both times...wish they'd win one for me!!
Great game even though the Mavs lost. It was competitiave to the very end.
I had a great time , the Mavs played a great game!
The American Airlines Center is an awesome building where you can experience a Live Pro game either the Mavs or the Stars, I've seen both teams play and just love the atmosphere of the thrill of the crowd, the fast paced action, and the feeling of being part of the game.
We sat in Sec 104 in Row W My 10 year old son and I felt part of the game alot of things were going on plus the game. I will do it agian got a J Ho Bobble Head , great seats , not to much money Love It
My family are not basketball fans at all.........but for $15 ticket, couldn't pass it by to go and see. FIrst MLB ever for my family. Alot of places to eat aroung the AAC, we ate at Dick's Last Resort.
Mavericks lost, but fun experience. Exciting crowd, full house great looking cheer leaders.
Platinum seats were great, excellent view of court and the restaurant style food area is excellent for kids.
It was a very nice experience after not being @ the AAC for quite a while!!! Even though the Mavs lost the atmosphere was great, the announcer kept the crowd in the game to cheer the Mavs!!!
lost to the t-wolves pretty sad other than that the women never disappoint
Platinum level is great. Nice atmosphere. Good view. Game was ok.
Great seats, good game. Mavs were able to pull out the win, but Monte Eliis was spectacular. Carried his team.
I really enjoyed the game more from platinum level. I usually sit in the nose bleed seats. The service was nice and the view was much better. The only down side was the loaded baked potatoe my son ordered. It is supposed to be a large potato. It was very small and over cooked--almost burned. The chopped beef brisket was not chopped well and was minimal. The other toppings were also minimal and slopped on the potato. I was disappointed with what he received compared to the $7.50 price. If we go back to that stand we will look at the size of what they are serving before we order it ---what we received was NOT worth it at all.
Great time! The only thing that I wish is that the seats were more spaced out. It is a little tight to eat while watching the game.
Great game. AAC is an excellent venue. Food gets a little pricey, but we all knew that already.
