Dallas Mavericks History
The Mavericks joined the NBA as an expansion franchise in the 1980–81 season, becoming the league’s third team in Texas, joining the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets. The Mavericks struggled in their inaugural season, but quickly improved with Mark Aguirre, who became the franchise's first All-Star and took the team to their first playoff series in the 1983–84 season. The Mavericks went on to qualify for the playoffs for four more consecutive seasons, culminating in a trip to the Western Conference Finals in 1987–88. They came within one win of the NBA Finals, losing to the Lakers in seven games.
Dallas struggled throughout the '90s, but a new era began when the Mavericks acquired Dirk Nowitzki in 1998. Ownership of the team was sold to Mark Cuban in January of 2000. Cuban immediately began to revitalize the franchise, building around a central trio of Nowitzki, point guard Steve Nash and wing Michael Finley. In Cuban's inaugural year owning the Mavericks, they made the playoffs for the first time in 11 years. This began a streak in which they qualified for the playoffs for 12 consecutive seasons. In the 2011 NBA Finals, they defeated the HEAT in six games to win the only championship in franchise history.
Nowitzki retired in 2019 and passed the torch to Luka Dončić, who led the Mavericks to four straight playoff berths, including the 2022 Western Conference Finals and 2024 NBA Finals.

Great game!!! Mavs Win!!!!! Did not get bobblehead. Boo!!
It was a great game, good time, can't wait to go again!!
This game was incredible! The seats were amazing! I completely recommend them! GO MAVS!
Game was great - result even better. Overall awesome event.
Fun time. Great seats , great game Perfect way to spend a Sunday evening
wasn't really much but the Mavs smashed on a Kobe and LA even though kobe didnt really take up much shoots its still a win. sorry!!! LA fans. But for really LA was winning in the first half thank goodness it was only by a few points instead of a blow-out like the last time Mavs faced LA. But in all-it is worth going to instead of going to some club in which you were just at a week ago, going to a mavs game is really AWESOMEST!!!!!!!
Mavs and Lakers game was awesome. Our floor court seats were worth the price. We got to see the Mavericks up close as they walked by us during half time and we got to see Jay Z and Beyonce.
It was a great game!!!!!! The Mavs gave the Lakers something to think about!!!!!!
Premier club level is really nice. very relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
I took my son to the game. We had platinum level seating. I would totally recommend the seating on this level. He was very impressed with the facility as was I. There was so much energy in the building that night. We had a blast. Looking forward to the next game.
I had a great time...the Mav's beating the Lakers was definitely worth the visit to Texas.
I am a MAVs fan, true indeed, although it was still awesome seeing Kobe, Fisher, and the rest of the Lakers in person. BUT of course, still, being a MAVs fan, I LOVED how they played, for the most part... TERRY, DIRK, KIDD.... with all the missed shots and no offensive rebounds... THEY still BEAT LA!!! It was a great game. I LOVE the AAC, except the high prices...
Had a greattime, my wife is a huge mav's fans and I moved from Miami so I love the Heat, after 2006 finals we go every year. Maybe sometime I will win one. I have lost 5 in row. But, we had a great time and it was a good game. Miami would have won if Dwayne Wade had played. Look forward to it again next year.
The game was very exciting. The Mavs stood up to the Lakers, with Kobe, and won the game. Go Mavs! Also the fans were great, the activities were great. On top of that Jay Z and his beautiful wife Beyonce were there! Electrifying! Keep up the good work Mark Cuban!!!
The American Airlines Center was very nice, well secured, easy parking, easy to get in and out of, the food in the Platinum area was good and so was the service.
The AAC is always a nice venue. The game was amazing, even though D Wade didn't play.
If you are in Dallas you must see a Mav's game! I attended my first NBA game on my b-day 02/20/10 and it was incredible! It was definitely a good time and sharing it with my fiance who is also a Mavs fan was unforgettable. We had great seats that were inexpensive and I am already planning my next game. The ticketmaster setup and seat guide were really helpful in selecting everything I wanted and seeing what was available. I will continue to use ticketmaster for future purchases to events.
I took my son and two of his friends as a birthday gift and they had an amazing time. The smiled and cheered for the mavs the entire game, it was a blast for me to see all of them so excited.
It was my first time at a Mavericks game and I had good time.
Enjoyed the game very much. First time to sit down low. We felt more a part of the game. Hope you will offer these specials more often.
