D.C. United dominated the early days of MLS. They appeared in the league’s first four championship games, winning three of them, and added a fourth title in 2004, all before the league was even a decade old. Between 1997 and 2007, the United earned four Supporters’ Shields for best regular season record and claimed three U.S. Open Cup trophies in 1996, 2008 and 2013.
The United’s alumni include a league-best four MVP recipients: Marco Etcheverry in 1998, Christian Gomez in 2006, Luciano Emilio in 2007 and Dwayne De Rosario in 2011. Emilio and Rosario became the first two of three D.C. Golden Boot recipients in 2007 and 2011, respectively, followed by Christian Benteke in 2024.

DC United has a wonderful history in MLS including 4 MLS cup titles. The playoff atmosphere was electric and the fans came out to support the club even with a last minute change in venue. I love football (soccer) and DC United does not disappoint.
it was so much fun i wish i could re live it!!!!!!!
Perhaps the most fun sporting event to go to in the DC area. Parking isn't a hassle, the event is going to last 2 hours no matter what, passionate fans and atmosphere. Season Tickets here we come!
Awesome game, crazy fans and an unforgettable experience.
Great game! Stadium is in an easy location to get to, but not necessarily the nicest stadium.
The event was electric. The fans are great! The game had a nice blend of excitement and controversy.
Cheap tickets. Paid $45 to sit seven rows off the mid field line. Tailgating was a lot of fun and very good crowd for a soccer game. Would go again, but lets face it DC probably wont be their.
it is a very nice place to go and enjoy a sporting event. it is not realy expensive in comparison to other events, and you can bring kids who would enjoy the game and Talon, the Team's mascot ;-)
Beautiful, consistent attack and teamwork. A very enjoyable (if disappointing at a tie) game. A lesson learned for Andy Najar and his teammates - the ref is god. Disappointing that we missed the PK, but the goalie guessed right.
United played well. Just didn't get the result. They'll have their day up in Jersey.
very frustrated with the stadium seemingly having only one bathroom. ridiculous for a sold out play off game. getting out of the stadium was also an ordeal and again ridiculous planning by the stadium and DC United. It's unbelievable that we still do not have any plan for our stadium. we lose the fans on the fence, when we make the playoffs but make it a negative experience.
The event was very Good.. Food was very expensive but the seat were fine!
Well, The red bulls came back and tied the game but it was still an amazing experience. Anyone who is unsure that soccer is a great game only needs to go to one United game to get it all.
Great fun for the spectators: played with enthusiasm and energy on both sides, watched with joy. Looking at first half midfield possession, I would not call it the 'beautiful game' - the 'homely game' would better describe it. That said, it was a beautiful result.
Best game that I have been to so far. The atmosphere was incredible.
They audience threw beer on children and used language that was offensive and vulger. We had to stand so we could see the game. The team played an awesome game I just wished we had different seat. I reccommend staying away from section 227 if possible.
First time at a MLS game. Very exciting and fast moving. BUT FANS please sit down!! I know it's exciting but you can see the game if you sit too! And PLEASE stop throwing beer in the air when a goal is scored. I realize its exciting but..not that exciting as I was stopped by police on WMATA for smelling like beer because it was all over me, not cool! I would go again but make sure I find seats far away from the morons.
Saw DCU get a spot in the playoffs!!! Its been a long five years without playoff action until this year. I thought that the game was going to end in a draw, but in the last 2 min they stepped up and scored the winning goal. Pandemonium.
I had never been to RFK and won't go back. It was filthy. No security, people were smoking inside. Each time DC United scored, unruly fans doused everyone with beer as they threw it up into the air. Not an event for kids given the behavior that is allowed. The incessant drums beating throughout the game was obnoxious and I had to stand the entire game since everyone stands. I paid for a SEAT, not the opportunity to stand the entire night.
