D.C. United History

D.C. United dominated the early days of MLS. They appeared in the league’s first four championship games, winning three of them, and added a fourth title in 2004, all before the league was even a decade old. Between 1997 and 2007, the United earned four Supporters’ Shields for best regular season record and claimed three U.S. Open Cup trophies in 1996, 2008 and 2013.

The United’s alumni include a league-best four MVP recipients: Marco Etcheverry in 1998, Christian Gomez in 2006, Luciano Emilio in 2007 and Dwayne De Rosario in 2011. Emilio and Rosario became the first two of three D.C. Golden Boot recipients in 2007 and 2011, respectively, followed by Christian Benteke in 2024.

unreally enjoyed the seats and the game. DC United is a good team and as a fan it made sense to sit in these seats. Great atmosphere.

Great experience for my teen boys to experience. Merchandise could've been better priced. Seating was optimal. Facilities were clean and staff was very friendly.

  • Not Bad for First Game

    by JBar4987 on 3/31/15RFK Stadium - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

It was my first time attending a DC United game with friends. While the cold weather didn't exactly make for the most comfortable game to watch, it was pretty cool to watch the game live and the match-up was entertaining, to say the least. The overall atmosphere of the stadium was not the most pleasant, but the fan base helped made up for it. Highly recommend going to the game when the weather warms up!

Stadium was one of worst we've seen. Food, comfort, enjoyment very low marks. Would not do it, again, especially at those prices.

  • Great soccer

Even though the temps didn't agree, the game was great. Can't go wrong at a United game!

What is not to like?! DC United won, with their newest player scoring the winning goal.

  • Great game. RFK in bad shape.

Good soccer match. DC United supporter groups a little too profane for my taste. Detracted from the overall atmosphere, especially for those who had children there.

This was my first DC United game. I also had my nephew with me too for his first United game. I was very pleased with the whole experience. Starting from the arriving at the parking lot to food and souvenir stands I would say that it was better than I expected. I would recommend a game to everyone. The fan support and atmosphere were great. I wish the other DC teams were like this.

Although we ultimately ended the season at this event, it was a great atmosphere and a great effort by DC United! My wife and I love going to DC United games and the seats we had were incredible.

  • Great game for DC United

It was a great play-off game at RFK Stadium. DC United won the game but not the series.

The seats were great! The game was great! It is to bad DC United lost.

  • An exciting game with a disappointing result

by Belgaboy on 11/11/14RFK Stadium - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

The local team pushed hard for most of the game and managed to score in the first half. The equalizer by New York in the second half almost killed the game and the suspense. DC United lacked creativity in the midfield and accuracy in front of the goal. The crowd was still into it to the end, though. It hailed the last minute-DC United second goal as it was a real winner.
