About

Cyndi Lauper is a pop singer and activist from Queens, New York. Upon the release of her 1983 debut album, She’s So Unusual, Lauper became a pop sensation, thanks to the success of Top 5 singles including “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” “Time After Time,” “She Bop” and “All Through the Night.” Lauper also won Best New Artist at the 1985 Grammys. Her second and third albums, True Colors (1986) and A Night to Remember (1989), added more hit singles like “True Colors” and “I Drove All Night” to her oeuvre and by the end the decade, Lauper had become synonymous with the ’80s new wave movement and synthpop sound. In addition to her twelve solo albums, Lauper also wrote the music and lyrics for the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Kinky Boots, for which she became the first solo woman to ever win the Tony for Best Original Score. In the fall of 2024, the singer embarked on her Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour in conjunction with her documentary film LET THE CANARY SING.

as always, cyndi was fabulous. but if you're looking for a show filled with greatest hits this one isn't for you. the first set was all off her new album and was really wonderful. she did a great job with the blues. the second set was oldies reinterpreted, something i always appreciate. as for the venue -- that's the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. it is a wonderful venue however there was constant problems with the sound for cyndi (those of us in the audience weren't affected) and it's just way too hot in that theater.

  • Cyndi "Flauper"

by RickB200 on 6/28/10House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 1 out of 5

Good day - Thank you for the opportunity to write a comment or two.....I saw Cyndi at the HoB in Boston and her opener was at best "horrid" and she was not much better. This is probably the worst concert I have been to. And, I was still floating on Cloud 9 after seeing Hole that Wednesday at HoB and Courtney was amazing! Cyndi was very monotone and the music was awful. I found myself more eneterained by people in the audience instead of the main act. I met two ladies that travelled to Boston from other New England states and they were disappointed as well. She looked like she had a dead flamingo on her head! I facebooked non-stop as to how bad the show was...... My next shows are Tears for Fears, Pat and REO, Donna Summer, Billy Idol and Blondie. Sorry - Cyndi was a bust - can I get my money back?

  • Cyndi does not disappoint!

  • Lauper rocked it!

Cyndi's voice was amazing! She had some technical difficulties with the equipment in the beginning of the show but the band was in fine form and loved her new blues music.

  • Still has it!

Cyndi put on a great show. Amazing to see so many young people there idolizing her like she was a twenty something. She certainly has the energy of a youngster and her voice was terrific! BRAVO CYNDI LAUPER!

  • The blues left me shouting with joy

by NJJEFF on 6/28/10BERGEN PERFORMING ARTS CENTER - EnglewoodRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen Cyndi Lauper 7 or 8 times over the years but she was never better than Sunday night at Bergen PAC. Her band was fantastic and cCyndi sang the blues the way they were meant to be sent. I had not yet listened to her latest CD but I sat entranced from the opening chords- she is that soulfull singer and performer that can touch your heartstrings. Cyndi live is magnificent, the energy, the love of the music, the total control over the sound, the band, she is clearly in charge and the audience is the beneficiary. She closed her set with 5 of my favorite classic songs , from Who Let in the rain through True Coplors with a rousing lengthy Girl Just want to have fun thrown in. Just a truly memorable performance, the power of live artistry, I salute Ms. Lauper

If you are looking for a high energy Cyndi Lauper concert--don't go. You will be disappointed. Cyndi did not seem to connect with the audience.

  • Cyndi was disappointing

Took my wife to see Cyndi for 50th birthday. Seen Cyndi before and love her. Wife did not like Cyndi's new sound, and we were both disappointed that she didn't play the songs & hits that people go to hear her sing - Money ChangesEverything, Drove all night, etc. The opening act was horrible! So horrible about 1/2 the audience got up & went into the lobby. Too loud & distorted. No talent. No lyrics. I hope he doesn't travel around with her.

  • Cindy was awesome!

I saw Cindy Lauper in concert 21 years ago and now again in 2010. Both time she gave me a great show and her singing voice is incredible. Totally worth it!!!

The woman can SING! Incredible show, I'd totally recommend it-- but kinda disappointed there was no old school stuff. Again, it was AMAZING, but I did expect at least ONE oldie.

  • Cyndi was amazing and real!

Took my girlfriend to see Cyndi for her birthday. While the opening act was awful (repetitive lyrics and several songs that sounded identical...) and the wait for Cyndi to reach the stage was loooooooooong.... she was an amazing talent to watch! Her energy and down to earth personality lit up the stage. She completely revamped several classics (girls just wanna have fun, time after time, and true colors) to fit the blues style of the entire show - without losing the original songs. Very cool. She also took time to talk to the audience, work with them, all while being a true artist as a part of the band (instead of a solo act) and a musician working with the music. Take the time to see her in concert! She was incredible! Her performance made us both lover her even more than we did through the eighties and nineties.
