  • Talented but disappointed

by Be prepared for a set list that is only her new songs, no covers, nothing familiar on 9/29/23Orpheum Theater - New OrleansRating: 4 out of 5

Great venue for an intimate concert. The cool underground bar is not open on Tuesdays even if it is a show night.

  • She’s like a fine wine - gets even better as the years go on

by Michael on 9/29/23Orpheum Theater - New OrleansRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve been following Corinne Bailey Rae’s music for years and this was my first time seeing her live. She was an incredible performer and so intentional in her music. While I wish she played more of her classics her latest album was steeped in history, culture, and she did a great job explaining her discovery process as she was writing her music. Highly recommend!

  • Disappointment in Musical Selections

    by Nannicnad5 on 9/29/23Orpheum Theater - New OrleansRating: 3 out of 5

I have loved Corrine Bailey Rae since the beginning of her musical career. Corinne has a beautiful and soulful voice. I was so excited when I saw that she was having a concert. I continuously listen to Corrine on Pandora. I attended a concert at a venue in New Orleans, La. She sang many songs from her recent recordings and only one song, “Breathless” from the beginning of her 2006 career. I was pumped and ready to hear songs from “Put Your Records On”. Even though I didn’t hear many of her older songs I would still attend her concerts in a heartbeat!!!

  • Disappointed

by Lene on 9/29/23Orpheum Theater - New OrleansRating: 3 out of 5

I expected to see/hear her perform my favorite songs and she sung new material. I think it’s a complete disregard for her fans to deprive us of hearing the songs that we paid to hear and to promote new material instead. She finally sung ONE of her popular tunes at the very end. I felt robbed.

  • Weirdest performance ever!

by LisaM on 9/23/23The Charleston Music Hall - CharlestonRating: 1 out of 5

Artist did not sing any songs from her old album(s) but had a mostly older crowd with more familiarity with her dated music. People were leaving the venue in droves after each song. Place virtually empty at the end of the show. No one was familiar with her new songs and entirely too much talking and descriptions of how she came up with the song in between songs. Songs were weird.

  • She didn’t “put her records on”!!!

by Disappointed mermaid on 9/22/23The Charleston Music Hall - CharlestonRating: 1 out of 5

I don’t know anyone that enjoys a concert, where the artist is presenting a completely different genre, and all new songs, and play nothing that made them famous. We walked out after an hour – very disappointed as she had such great songs in the past!

  • Do better

by agee on 9/22/23The Charleston Music Hall - CharlestonRating: 2 out of 5

I really like CBR and was stoked to see her live. However, the sound was terrible and I couldn’t enjoy any of her songs. The stories she shared between were very clear and well-woven. Once she started playing and singing, the instruments drowned her out and were way too strong. I left early….something I never do.

  • Different from her another shows

by Jay on 9/22/23The Charleston Music Hall - CharlestonRating: 4 out of 5

I really a lot of people were looking for her to sing her older songs. And not just the latest album. I really enjoyed the show myself; however, I truly believe a great deal of people was disappointed. I came prepared to hear her latest album.

  • It’s an experience

by 9.19 Charleston, SC on 9/22/23Rating: 5 out of 5

I was surprised with tickets for her concert for my birthday. I got there expecting to hear her old stuff because I was unaware of her new album. While she only played one old song, her show was an experience. From start to finish she was amazing. She’s definitely one of the best live performers I’ve seen. Her voice is absolutely beautiful. He will follow you with his eyes has been on repeat since the concert! THATS MY BLACK GIRL BOP. I appreciated the stories before the songs. I felt Like this album was for the black gworls and I loved every second of it! Would love to hear more old Corinne songs but overall I was entertained!

  • Awesome Concert

by Farfalla on 9/21/23Rating: 5 out of 5

This was an opportunity to go inside her creative process in making Black Rainbows. To hear the stories behind each song, see the instruments being used and of course her beautiful voice. The different genres covered werw beautiful!!

  • Disappointed

by Mskflo on 9/20/23Rating: 1 out of 5

Saw CBR in Charleston SC. I guess I didn’t read the fine print that she would be performing songs only from her new album. Although I like to hear new music, she did not use her beautiful voice very much. Instead there were lots of percussion instruments and loud guitar and drums. My sister and I were so very disappointed and left early.

  • No oldies or goodies played

by Zu on 9/14/23Lincoln Theatre - WashingtonRating: 1 out of 5

Save your money. I went thinking I could have some sing a longs with my friends to her older songs. Her and the band only played a new album I believe thwy were trying to promote. I was very disappointed. Most likely won't go to any of her future concerts because of this.

  • Just left the venue

    by Y. S. on 9/13/23Rating: 4 out of 5

I was very excited for this show going in and because I follow Corinne on social media I knew about her new album. I gave it a fair chance and decided it was a 'once in a blue moon' type of listen. Around July I came upon the tour announcement on instagram and the caption CLEARLY stating that this was a "special EXCLUSIVE performance of Black Rainbows" I immediately understood what that meant, and when the time came I still decided to purchase a ticket. The show itself was wonderfully put together, from the opener to the live band to the Star herself. She looked amazing and sounded even better. I can only describe the experience as a spiritual and historical journey. She played several of the instruments on stage and sang from the new album. In between each song she explained her inspirations. They are very concise and particular. This wasn't a vague and general album. And the concert felt like going to the musical equivalent of a history museum. I took a star off because we couldn't quite hear the words she was singing it was too blended with the instruments. Otherwise it was a cool, trippy, educational show. This is not the old Corinne and don't go expecting that. I know her old music has had a resurgence since the cover of Put Your Records On went viral on tiktok, but please people do your research before putting expectations on a artist. She's allowed to take her art in any direction. Looking up a setlist takes 10 seconds. I could sense the boomers and midwesterners/ suburbanites start to walk out after they realized they weren't getting what they expected. But those who got it got it *insert shrug* She must have sensed the crowd's disappointment because she sang two extra hit songs during the encore at the end. Anyway I gained perspective that I wouldn't have otherwise had if I hadn't gone so I'm grateful. Thank you Corinne and co.

  • Not What I Was Expecting

by Candy on 9/12/23Lincoln Theatre - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

Not a dire hard fan of Corine Bailey Rae, but there are some songs of hers that I really like e.g., Put Your Records On, Like A Star, and Green Afrodisac. I really was looking forward to hearing those songs. I also don't think the sound quality was good. It was loud enough, just not clear and crisp.

  • No old songs, just new stuff~ DISAPPOINTING

by Te on 9/11/23Theatre of Living Arts - PhiladelphiaRating: 1 out of 5

The show started on time, everyone seemed so excited! After an hour, not one song from any of the previous albums. We all clapped politely, Another 30 minutes, they walked off, we cheered, they came back and she sang Like A Star. One song we knew, at the end! We left feeling sad and disappointed. I hope her people read these reviews and make some changes going forward, soon! Sad in Philly! 9/8/23 TLA

  • Save us

by Davis on 9/11/23Theatre of Living Arts - PhiladelphiaRating: 2 out of 5

A lot of talking/reminiscing for at least one minute in between each rock and roll hit after another. Not a soulful r&b artist at all. Not the Corrine I know. Very disappointed

  • A tiny bit disappointed

by Luandinha on 9/11/23Theatre of Living Arts - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

I knew this was about the new album, but I feel like when an artist releases it (which she hadn’t quite done yet), they will do maybe like 40/50% of the concert about the new songs. I felt a bit misled, as on the other tours she always sang oldies. Not to complain too much, she sang Like a Star. After every song on Black Rainbow (which I’m not exactly in love with tbh) Corinne is one of my favorites, if not the one. But I expected something else… still giving her 5 stars because I do love her so much!

  • Come Journey With Me!

by CarMystrey on 9/11/23Theatre of Living Arts - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

Fantastic concert as always. Corinne voice is unmatched, er songs continues to take you on a journey without leaving your seat! Corinne's voice accompanied with the instruments she plays leaves you breathless!

  • Not what I expected!

by Mali on 9/11/23Theatre of Living Arts - PhiladelphiaRating: 1 out of 5

I was really confused during this concert. The genre was nothing like what I paid to hear. It was some new pandemic out music that nobody knew. Only one song was sung from old & latest album. Stage presence good but, I was so lost.

  • Corinne is unique!

Great performance and overall music experience with a special artist!
