Loved it from beginning to end!!Worth every penny!
I loved Corinne. She truly was a star. Her voice was impeccable. The band was memorable. The House of Blues as a venue, I can live without. Although the acoustics were nice in the hall, the bartenders over-served many guests who then became increasingly annoying, distracting, and troublesome throughout the entire show. People were really drunk. Should Corinne come back to Boston, I hope she plays somewhere a little more civilized, like the Opera House, the Paradise, the Orpheum... Anywhere but there.
I am not one to go to concerts often. But I would go see Corrine often. The venue, though lacking in seating was able to accomodate my wife and I in a very large venue that somehow managed to feel intimate simultaneously. The show was amazingly well produced. Rae was very gracious the whole way through even with a curtain call. The sound was not overpowering and the bar was very close. I suppose $8 isn't too bad for mixed drinks when a single watery beer is the same across the street at Fenway. :-/ I didn't love the new The Sea album of Corrines, but the concert made me reconsider. Her live presentations of the songs brought a certain life and energy to the songs that I thought was absent. I hope that a live album of this tour is released.
so enjoyed Corinne Bailey Rae! Her music was beautiful and so was she! Highly recommend seeing her live.
What an amazing show. Even though HOB is much bigger a venue than I prefer, Corinne still put on an amazing show and reached everybody in the whole place! She's amazing live. Also, I had never heard of Daniel Merriweather, but he has a GREAT voice.
This was an amazing show. Two great bands that sounded fantastic! Daniel Merriweather stole the show.
David Meriweather: This was the first time I heard of him and actually saw him I thought he did a great job. Very raspy voice, and enjoyable. Would like to hear more music from him. Corinne Bailey Rae: Was so PURE, sounded just like the CD. I was in AWE!!! It is amazing she can sing such beautiful music, but be so shy. I could sit in a seat in listen to her all night. I was mesmerized. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I would do it all over again. Best concert I have every been to. Thank you Corinne. Keep your head up things will get better one day at a time, but you never forget.
The show was so amazing and entertaining. The opening act was Australian singer Daniel Merriweather. He performed alongside an acoustic guitarist. He gave the audience a 30-minute "stripped-down" version of some of his songs. Corinne Bailey Rae performed all of her songs from her new album, "The Sea" with the exception of "Little Wing". She also performed a few songs from her previous album including "Like A Star", "Breathless", and "Til It Happens To You." She treated us with one of her favorite songs, a cover of "I Only Have Eyes For You" by the Flamingos.
It was an amazing show. Her voice is incredible, so soulful. She is playful, her band was great. Really tight show.
This concert was so real! Real music, real talent. Corrine's performance was stellar and she even blessed us with 2 encore performances. The band could have done their own set, vocals and all! AMAZING! Now let's talk about Mr. Merriweather. Where the hell has he been?!? I swear my eyes were closed half the time because I was taken away to that place where only souls speak. Yeah. It was that good.
Amazing artist, fantastic music Plus: She went on less than half-hour after her opening act, played nearly 2hours and then came back to do two more songs. More than worth the price
I thought she did a great job of showing her talent. She played jazz, reggae & pop. Her voice is amazing. Definitely go see her live. Her band is also great especially the guitar player that also had a nice blues voice.
beyond amazing, great to see someone that sounds better than a CD.
It was amazing! The opening act was great and we loved Corinne!
her voice was impecable, great sound, her band was great good performer, fun to watch I love the House of Blues - at the end we stood in the very back and it was still great
'This was an amazing performance...it actually started on time was essentially nonstop with energy and ended at a decent hour. Corrine recieved some of the loudest ovations from her fans that i have witness at any show of the last 5 years. People forget about the magic of the early 1900's when Chicago was the movie palace capital of the world. To see this show at the Vic Theatre with a fanbase that seemingly covers every walk of life was the perfect way to end the week. We stood on the corner of Belmont & Sheffield and admired how beautiful and unique her fans were...if we could only have a restaraunt with this level of diversity we would make a mint lol. But her voice, her 7 piece band and made this a memorable show she was so sweet and gracious after every ovation and really made it a point to be interactive between songs. I personally appreciated how each song had its own unique feel..i respect artists that go out of there way to make sure their songs dont all sound alike...more importantly that they execute them in the live format. This show reminded me of a different era in music..one that im glad is still alive.. $20 ticket for a evening with an internationally known artist who puts on a killer show for a crowd that knew how special it was a showered her with appreciation for 2 hours. Great Performance
ok...so I "found" Corinne Bailey Rae's music at Tower Records in Chicago well before her music even hit a radio station in the U.S. (I found it under International Music) So I was delighted when I came across her concert here in Chicago! She was amazing, soulful, humble, bluesy, raw, amazing, funny, shy, expressive, and yes did I say amazing? When she sings you can tell she loves what she does....and she is so expressive with her hands! Beautiful! Can't wait to see her again!!!
This concert was excellent! Corinne delivered big time. Sang all of her hits and songs from her latest album as well as a couple of surprise songs. She was definitely in good voice. The place was packed and in tune with Corinne. My wife and I loved her. Downside; waiting so long to hear her. Concert tickets had a start time of 7:00 pm with no opening act listed. Show began around 8:30 with opening act which was okay but not great. Corinne didn't come on stage until after 9:00 pm Just too long a wait.
I've never seen Corrine Bailey Rae in concert, but I'm a huge fan! The concert was just incredible! She was at small, standing room only venue in Detroit and we showed her all the love we could offer! Her encore was Sly and the Family Stone Kaysira! Every song was amazing! It was actually one of the best concerts I've been to in a long time!
LOVED the show...the music was fantastic and Corinne rocked the house. Loved the encore...what a great ending to an amazing show!
