This was a fun night. All of the groups put on a great show. The unannounce appearance of Shirley Murdock singing "Computer Love" with Zapp, was icing on the cake. Even the breaks between acts were fun. The DJ played music that made you get up off of your feet and jam. In fact for most of the night nearly everyone stayed on their feet. Good time had by all!!!
The show was great, all of the acts were fabulous. It was my first time seeing Zapp and I was truely impressed.
ConFunkShun was unbelievable - awesome show. Every group was amazing. I took my 14 yr old to hear some real live funk in your ear music. He loved it.
A big fan of old school funk! This show was well worth the wait!! All three bands put on a great show! The packed house was on its feet for must of the evening. Please bring more shows like this the Carter Barron, it was built with this kind of show in mind. Though the first band (Slave) was short changed on their time, the put on a good show and it only got better from the beginning. On a negative note, the lines and entrance could have been much better managed. The ticket takers didn't even take a second to make sure that the tickets were for this event we gave our home printed tickets to the guard, the never even looked at them, just waved us through.
I so enjoyed yesterday's concert. What great time we had athe show! 2 Thumbs up!
Loved it! Loved it! Loved it! Took me back to my high school and college days. This is real music, when people could "really" sing! ConFunkShun sang all my favorites but Zapp gave the show of the night. And, the praises they gave to God were genuine, not just rote words! Thank God for the talent he blessed each group with. When they come back again I will be there!
I thought the concert was top notch from beginning to end. The price was right for such a venue. I am glad to see such cultural offerings from the DC Government and US Park Service. The bands delivered as expected with energy and a "sermon" to boot. If you missed this concert, you may want to review the schedule of the Carter Barron for other gems that will come this way (DC).
Best concert I've seen there in a long time. Keep them coming!!
All three groups really took us back in the day! They were ALL fantastic!!! Slave sounded great, an awesome start to the show (Slide)!!! Zapp amazed the crowd in dazzling lavender suits and multiple wardrobe changes and of course, their amazing sound (Computer Love). ConFunkShun took the show with their big band, smooth singing, and groovy moves (Fun Fun Fun)!!! The crowd was standing room only and really showed their appreciation. The Carter Barron in DC was rocking. The night was simply FANTASTIC!!! I had a ball and pretty much danced during the whole show!!! Unforgettable!!!
I enjoyed everything about the Carter Baron last night. All three groups were really good especially ZAPP.
The show was off the chain! It was everything we hoprd for and more!
I didn't know what to expect from Slave, Zapp and Confunkshun after so many years. But I was pleasantly surprised with their performances. They kept the D.C. audience on their feet with their funky sounds. Confunkshun's lead singer still has his voice. Best of all the group's were real and engaging. Thanks for the great performances.
The event was great, weather was favorable and the atmosphere was funky!!! Music brought back memories of good times where sound was what you heard and not profanity. The drums created a heart beating rapture of wonder.
Slave started on time and was on point! Wish they could have played longer. Zapp came out and showed they butts! It was hard at first with Roger not being there, but they payed homage and did their thang! True peformers from the jump! Con Funk Shun was all dat!!! Still sounding great and moved on the stage like they were still in their 20s! The entire show was great!
Alsome show When they hit Computer love they did there thing on it. I know im young only 33 but this kind of music hit my souldmusic i feel
This was an absolutely GREAT show from start to finish. The bass players from Slave and Confunkshun were two of the best I've ever seen. I've seen Slave and Zapp several times in their haydays, and they haven't lost a step (taking into consideration Roger is not there. His presence would have made the show better). The only disappointment of the show is the lack of time given to Slave -- they should have given them at least another 30 minutes. Whomever gave them 15 minutes should be FIRED!!
This was a perfect line up; all old skool and to finish it up with Confunkshun was the ultimate. Slave came out and just started the party with their jams. Zapp - we will always miss Roger but they were so full of energy and just one big house party. I did not expect Confunkshun to be a party party band but MAN, THEY ROCKED! Confunkshun started a little slow and recognized it and said they were going to start all over again and start again they did! Their bass player was off the hook! He definitely came to party and his stage presence was great! When they started singing the slow songs they are known for, it just blew my mind. Michael Cooper has not lost a beat! I can't remember the other members name who does the high notes but he was simply amazing! All three groups can get my money any time they come in town!
