About

From an early age, Clay Aiken was recognized for his wonderful voice and natural ability as a live performer. After singing in the choir and in several musicals, Aiken attained national fame on the popular TV show American Idol. Though Aiken finished second in the competition to Ruben Studdard, Aiken soon had a recording contract and released his first single, the #1 hit "This Is the Night," within weeks of the show's end. This success was followed by the 2003 release of his double-platinum debut album, The Measure of a Man, which featured the hits "I Will Carry You" and "Invisible." Later that same year, Aiken won the Fan's Choice Award at the American Music Awards, proving millions of fans held the singer close to their hearts. 2004 saw the release of another smash hit for Aiken, the holiday album Merry Christmas with Love.

One of the best concerts I've ever attended -- can't wait to see it on TV! Mr. Aiken is a fantastic singer, and the production values were first rate. A great evening of classic songs from the 50s and 60s, performed impeccably with a 17-piece band and special guests Linda Eder, Ruben Studdard, Quiana Parler, and some wonderful dancers.

  • Clay Aiken - Upcoming PBS Special

by Dinobear on 3/14/10Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Tried & True was the theme. Clay sang songs from the 50's & 60's...classic hits. His rendition of them were sung vocally beautiful. His vioice lends itself to these memorable songs and he soared with Moon River, It's Impossible, Mack the Knife, Look At Me, ' Can't Take My Eyes Off of You, I'll Take Romance, Suspicious Minds and many many more. The concert was not exclusively for Clay fans, anyone with an "ear" for a great voice, that can transcend many ranges would have enjoyed the show. Lighting, production and selection of songs were amazing. 2 hours of nonstop music, banter was riveting.

If anyone has not seen Clay Aiken live, do not miss a tour this year or next when announced. This young man not only can sing like no other but in addition to that, he is an all around entertainer with his spontaneous wit, his interaction with his audience and his all-around charm. I have never seen an entertainer who can react to and involve his audience in his show like this young man does - he's a natural. And do not be afraid to take your young ones as his shows are family oriented. Both young as well as old thoroughly enjoy his shows - leaving everyone feeling happy and wanting more in the end. That is what keeps my husband and I going to his shows.

  • Clay Aiken PBS show was wonderful!

by MsDocB on 3/14/10Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

I have never been to a show that was being taped for TV so this was a new experience for me. I was concerned that cameras and technical personal would be a distraction. That was not the case at all. The show was riveting from start to finish. From the opening curtain, with the beautiful play of the stage lights, the music was full and rich. Wonderful new arrangements of classic, timeless songs, and some I really didn't expect, like the duet of "Crying" with the fabulous Linda Eder. The medley piece with Ruben Studdard and Quiana Parlor was both funny and so good! Who would have expected a big band version of "Poker Face" and "I like Big Butts" to actually sound so good! The only complaint I had was that the whole evening went by too fast. I could have listened all night. The venue was so beautiful and comfortable, the staff were very friendly and helpful. I never even noticed the technical people when the show started because they worked so well and did not intrude on at all.

Without a doubt, the best show I've had the privilege to see. Better than I expected, and far too short.

  • Clay Aiken was OMG amazing!

by Angelcat on 3/13/10Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

OMG .. I really am at a loss for words ... I've been sitting with my concert friends and we've been trying to think of ways to describe tonight .. and all we can say is OMG. It was amazing .. I've never heard clay sing this way. .. lower register .. high register .. the confidence .. and OMG, he just looked so cool .. and so good .. he commanded the stage. For me, it's the best concert I've ever been to .. it's difficult to describe, but I'm trying. It was not only Clay singing the best I have ever heard .. it was also the love that the audience showed .. not only to Clay .. but to each other, we just seemed to become a unit showing Clay love and appreciation and amazement. .. and after it was over it was difficult to describe what had just happened. I wish everyone had been here to see it .. and I'm so glad that it will be on PBS.

This was an amazing, spectacular show, and Clay Aiken is an amazing and incredible singer. I was expecting a fantastic show from him but this show was way beyond my expectations. He blew me away with these new versions of old songs more than once and the new 'big band' sound was better than I could have ever expected. I want more, more, and more from this amazing man with such incredible talent.

I have been following Clay's career since his audition on American Idol. He was wonderful then and definitely unforgettable. This show, however, was the best that I have ever seen. It was beautifully done, he looked gorgeous, and he sang better than I have ever heard him. I cannot wait to see this on tv and replay it over and over.

Every aspect of this concert was outstanding! The theater was lovely, the lighting was gorgeous, the setlist was beautifully varied, and the musicians were topnotch. As for the star of the show, words simply cannot describe how excellent he was. Clay Aiken has never sounded better! Be sure to catch this performance when it's broadcast as a PBS special this summer. This was a sophisticated, classy show that you won't want to miss!

My voice Instructor suggested that I listen to Clay as a voice student and Im glad I did!!! I feel privledged to have had the opportunity to hear Clay launch the songs from his new album. He is a great talent. He was able to take familiar favorites from decades past and make the listener feel like they were hearing the songs for the very first time. That is true artistry!!!! Way to go Clay!!!

by jltydb on 3/13/10Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

After a long absence from live performances Clay returned in great form. He has chosen triied and true songs and preformed them in his original style bringing them up to date. I would recommend his show and his soon to be released CD to anyone who enjoys great music preformed in a unique way by an extraordinary performer.

  • Clay was the best he's ever been!!

by LLClay on 3/13/10Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

I have been a Clay fan for a long time and knew he would put on a great show, but I was totally blown away! His voice was like I have never heard it. He went from high note to low note and seemed to do it with ease. I took my sister-in-law who had seen him on "Idol" and thought he was good on that show. At this show, from the time he sang "Mack the Knife" til the end her face was in awe. She said, "I had no idea he could sing like this. He is the best singer I have ever heard in my life!" She can't wait for us to go to his next concert at Biltmore Estates in July. Clay can sing any song better than the person who first recorded it. (My sister-in-law agrees.)
