About

From an early age, Clay Aiken was recognized for his wonderful voice and natural ability as a live performer. After singing in the choir and in several musicals, Aiken attained national fame on the popular TV show American Idol. Though Aiken finished second in the competition to Ruben Studdard, Aiken soon had a recording contract and released his first single, the #1 hit "This Is the Night," within weeks of the show's end. This success was followed by the 2003 release of his double-platinum debut album, The Measure of a Man, which featured the hits "I Will Carry You" and "Invisible." Later that same year, Aiken won the Fan's Choice Award at the American Music Awards, proving millions of fans held the singer close to their hearts. 2004 saw the release of another smash hit for Aiken, the holiday album Merry Christmas with Love.

    Clay Aiken Vocal Perfection

by Reilly1 on 3/13/10Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - Raleigh

Clay Aiken previewed his upcoming album Tried and True to a packed house as part of a television taping for a future PBS special. The genre was 50's and 60's music but with all new jazzy and big band arrangements by Chris Walden. Beginning with an ultra cool version of Mack the Knife and including a specially arranged version of Unchained Melody written just for Clay, the night was a wall of sound and spectacular production. Guests included long time friend Ruben Studdard who performed an interesting medley of today's more popular dance and hiphop songs but in a big band format. Don't miss this when it comes on PBS sometime in early to mid-summer.

    Clay Aiken -- Fantastic!

by macmom66 on 3/13/10Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - Raleigh

Clay Aiken was amazing last night at his PBS Special at Memorial Auditorium. The band was great, the lighting was also one of the best I've seen. His Unchained Melody was fantastic and uniquely Clay! What a voice this man has -- truly a gift! Mr. Aiken is witty and funny and his vocal talent is the best! It was an incredible evening! I hope to be seeing him on tour this summer and on TV promoting his new CD "Tried and True" coming out possibly 6/1. Please have him back at the Memorial Auditorium. This man can sing anything! Thank you.

    Clay Aiken was awesome!

by RNCmusicfan on 3/13/10Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - Raleigh

Clay is no longer a cute guy from AI singing pop songs, but a mature man singing the songs he loves to sing. His voice has mellowed, and he sings with so much feeling. My husband and I were blown away with the song selection and the shear beauty of his voice.

Clay has proved, once again, what an amazing entertainer he is. Until you experience him live, you could never get the concept of Clay. He has enduring stage presence, wit and an amazing voice, unlike none other! It is no wonder his crowds come from all over the US, Canada and other foreign countries to see him. He is always a joy to see and gives his fans an outstanding performance. These are the reasons why he is still regularly performing after his American Idol days. Yes , 7 years!

There are no words to express how thrilled I was to see this one-night-only performance. The entire production was amazing and I cannot wait to see it again on all five of my PBS stations! (Who knew that someday those multiple channels would be worth their weight in gold?)

    Clay's Back with a Passion

by cah003 on 3/13/10Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - Raleigh

GREAT show! I've seen him concert a few times and have enjoyed his past shows. But this show left all the others in the dust! Putting his touch on classic songs and made them definitely "his own". I wish I could watch it again... especially his new version of Unchained Melody and Build Me Up Buttercup! The bit with Ruben Studdard and Quianna Parlor was really cute too!

    Clay was HOT !

by NCGranny on 3/13/10Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - Raleigh

What a great show! Clay was at his best, doing music he loves and having a great time, so all of us there had a great time as well. His voice was strong and powerful and the lighting and effects were awesome. There will be some who aren't happy with this direction for him, but he honestly fits this genre wonderfully and it's obvious he really enjoys doing this music. I hope he does really well with this new direction.

    Clay's still got it!!!

by snarkylicious on 3/13/10Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - Raleigh

Clay Aiken's show last night was polished, professional and amazing. His songs all has that jazzy feeling to them He had a great mix of slow and fast songs and every one of them was interesting with lighting and a tight sound from the orchestra and the band. But the most wonderful thing was his voice. Clay sounded absolutely outstanding. The best I have heard him sing. The entire production was well thought out. All in all, I cannot wait to see this show on PBS.
