About

From an early age, Clay Aiken was recognized for his wonderful voice and natural ability as a live performer. After singing in the choir and in several musicals, Aiken attained national fame on the popular TV show American Idol. Though Aiken finished second in the competition to Ruben Studdard, Aiken soon had a recording contract and released his first single, the #1 hit "This Is the Night," within weeks of the show's end. This success was followed by the 2003 release of his double-platinum debut album, The Measure of a Man, which featured the hits "I Will Carry You" and "Invisible." Later that same year, Aiken won the Fan's Choice Award at the American Music Awards, proving millions of fans held the singer close to their hearts. 2004 saw the release of another smash hit for Aiken, the holiday album Merry Christmas with Love.

  • Not what I was expecting

by Crappieconcert on 3/29/10Progress Energy Center - RaleighRating: 1 out of 5

I bought tickets to see Clay Aiken doing his hit songs, instead I listened to a new album he was making of all classics. They moved the crowd around to make the autorium look full, the concert started late and when he spoke he was rude. The classics he chose were awful ( Mack the knife? come on)

I have been waiting a long time to hear some ccurrent arrangements for classic popular music and I heard it on Friday night with Clay Aiken singing them with that glorious voice of his! . From the first notes of the evening to the very last, I was mesmerized and thrilled!! Thank goodness I have the chance to see and hear it again when it appears on PBS!!

  • Clay is better than ever!

by cruz12 on 3/20/10Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

I don't know any singer out there who can sing like Clay Aiken. His voice is amazing! He made me love every song in his upcoming album, Tried and True. There was a variety of tempos, the arrangements were fresh and jazzy, and the music outstanding. The overall production was top-notch. I'm really looking forward to the album and his PBS special this summer. I hope this is the show he's taking on the road because I'm there in a heartbeat.

The sound of this man's voice is pure magic. He is unique and intriguing. He is a natural on stage and naturally funny. He has a warmth which wraps around the audience and hugs it close. I always love being part of his audience.

  • Clay Aiken's PBS concert was spectacular

by February2nd on 3/18/10Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

If you thought Clay Aiken was good before you ain't seen nothing yet. Expect the unexpected. The set list included all the songs from his new album, Tried and True, along with a few extras that are not on the album. Filmed for a PBS special set to air this summer, his voice, his jazz band, his musical arrangements, the lighting, the sound - all were beyond spectacular. A perfect mix of uptempo classic songs and ballads from the 50s and 60s, all given new life by Clay's voice and new jazzy, big band style arrangements. Opening with Mack the Knife set the tone for the whole show. What he did with "Unchained Melody" had the whole audience on their feet. I had heard that Moon River would be on the album and I did not think that Clay could out do the Andy Williams version. I was so wrong. He could and he did. Kudos to Clay, Decca and PBS.

  • An O.h M.y G.osh concert

    by 5230fan on 3/18/10Progress Energy Center - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

This was absolutely an O.M.G. concert! Incredible, amazing, and I can go on and on with the adjectives. His rendition of Unchained Melody was a "wow" surprise; simply loved Build Me Up Buttercup. It made taking the looong and arduous trip to Raleigh (while being sick!) so well worth it.

  • Simply incredible!

This was the most amazing Clay concert I've ever attended and I've been to quite a few! His voice was out of this world and he had the crowd on their feet! Can't wait to see him again.

  • Magical

    by Smile24 on 3/17/10Progress Energy Center - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

I've had the opportunity to attend several Clay Aiken concerts over the years. This was his best performance to date. What that man can do with his voice, his humor and audience participation is amazing. He's the total package. Unchained Melody alone was worth the price of admission. I can't wait to see him in concert again. His new album Tried and True comes out this summer.

  • Clay Aiken was simply MAGNIFICENT

by SmokeyEyes on 3/17/10Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

From the moment the stage curtain rose until the last note was sung and he said goodnight, I just kept shaking my head and repeating OMG. His voice was the best I have ever heard it and he hit every note perfectly. The songs were amazing and I simply cannot wait until his new CD is available for purchasing. This show was taped for airing on TV on PBS for sometime in June. Everyone really needs to watch this show. You will be simply blown away by his powerful voice and emotions he puts into every song.

  • Aiken Knows How to Put on a Show!!!

by LissyLynn on 3/17/10Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

This concert was unbelievable! Clay Aiken can sing circles around most other vocalists today, and is hilarious to boot. You won't catch him lip syncing or using Auto tune. He's always been a great entertainer, but as he's matured, he's become very polished and ultra-professional. The show has some old favorites performed on American Idol, but you've NEVER seen the songs like this...not even from Clay! This was a one night only performance. Can't wait to see it again on PBS.

A truly magical night. What a voice!!! I wouldn't miss a chance to see Clay in concert again!

  • Clay Aiken ROCKED!!!!

by Iseeme on 3/17/10Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Clay's back! Or actually, he never left! The show on 3/12 was phenomenol. Clay's song choices, the orchestration, the lighting, everything was wonderful. Singing songs of the 50's and 60's including Mack the Knife, Moon River, Unchained Melody, It's Impossible, Crying (duet with Linda Eder) and others made for an unforgettable evening of complete music pleasure. Clay is so obviously in his element. He was comfortable and relaxed and just let that voice take over the stage and the auditorium and every person in it. His voice ran the gamut from soft and mellow to pure and soaring. This is no pop star! This is a bonafide voice for the ages.

  • by Iluvnerds on 3/17/10Progress Center - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

I went to this concert not knowing what to expect. The songs are older and I thought it might be boring but was there ever about to change. I have been to a lot of concerts in my lifetime seeing some of the greats...Eagles, Rolling Stones, Elvis, Paul McCartney, Bon Jovi, Blue October, Inxs (the original ones), but I have to say this one ranks up as there as one of my favorites. This guy's voice is unbelievable and he is engaging and entertaining. I would go see him again in a heartbeat. He puts on an amazing show.

  • Clay has Arrived!

by SilverJean on 3/17/10Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

This highly anticipated performance was absolutely beyond my wildest dreams. That voice can make any song glow and he didn't disappoint. The production was spectacular, and Clay displayed his maturity, his range and his fantastic talent in these classic songs from the 50's and 60's. It is so wonderful to see him performing the kind of music that he wants to and his showmanship shows his delight in doing so. This will be a PBS special this summer followed by the release of his new CD. There is something for everyone on this CD and some arrangements that will just blow you away. Be sure to check TV listings to see when this airs. I can't wait to buy the DVD.

One of the very best concerts I have been to. There was something for everyone. Upbeat, slow and crooning, great orchestra, great interaction with the audience.
