About

From an early age, Clay Aiken was recognized for his wonderful voice and natural ability as a live performer. After singing in the choir and in several musicals, Aiken attained national fame on the popular TV show American Idol. Though Aiken finished second in the competition to Ruben Studdard, Aiken soon had a recording contract and released his first single, the #1 hit "This Is the Night," within weeks of the show's end. This success was followed by the 2003 release of his double-platinum debut album, The Measure of a Man, which featured the hits "I Will Carry You" and "Invisible." Later that same year, Aiken won the Fan's Choice Award at the American Music Awards, proving millions of fans held the singer close to their hearts. 2004 saw the release of another smash hit for Aiken, the holiday album Merry Christmas with Love.

  • AMERICAN IDOLS EARN THIER TITLES

by BARDOT on 7/26/10King Center for the Performing Arts - MelbourneRating: 4 out of 5

Ruben looked great. He's lost some weight and sounded better than I remembered from the 2003 IDOLS shows. Both were entertaining with their dancing and banter and of course their voices. The lines about Clay's sexual preferences, e. g., "coming out first", etc. were unnecessary., as well as stressing their differences. They performed for 2 1/2 hours non-stop and it was their voices and what they had in common as former idols that had the audience enthralled.

  • Clay and Ruben were AMAZING!!!

by aclayfanforlife on 7/26/10King Center for the Performing Arts - MelbourneRating: 5 out of 5

From the opening number, Clay and Ruben grabbed our attention and had us laughing and smiling for the whole show. My daughter and I have seen Clay in concert 12 times before this show and were not disappointed after years of waiting for his return. The guys are as funny as they are talented. The show flowed as they performed numbers from the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's, some solos, some duets, many medleys and lots of fun! It was so enjoyable to see my daughter, who saw Clay at her first concert when she was 9 years old, now at 16 enjoying herself as much as she does at her alternative rock concerts. He will always be her first love and the reason she enjoys music as much as she does today. Thank you Clay, and Ruben, for a wonderful trip down memory lane <3

  • Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard

by Bobbit on 7/26/10King Center for the Performing Arts - MelbourneRating: 5 out of 5

Just awesome.....they entertained for 2 hours and 15 minute straight! Lots of humor between Clay and Ruben to make the show more entertaining! Best show I have seen at the King Center! The girls that back up both singers did solos and they were excellent, too! Highly recommend seeing the show for just pure entertainment.

This show was fantastic. High energy, comedy, great walk down memory lane with the song selections, great musicians, and exceptionally good singing. Clay and Ruben are great entertainment together. And Clay proved once again that he's one of the best voices in the music industry today. A must-see, fun concert.

Clay and Ruben not only entertained with their wonderful voices, but were funny. Reminded me of Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis!

  • Great Show

Clay and Ruben were both in excellent voice. They sang through the decades starting with the 60's. I can't believe how many songs (made into medleys) they fit in. Solos, duets, 3 and 4 part harmonies, they did it all. Lots of fun!

Very Nice Variety show with good music. Would have like to see Clay sing some of his famous songs like Solitaire, but the show was entertaining. A few more solo's by the stars would have been good.

Reuben Studdard & Clay Aiken were amazing together. I have a new appreciation for Reuben. In this performance he was the star of the show. My 1 & only complaint was that the band was too loud and overpowered the performers, who at times had to strain to be heard. Clay's voice was not in top form.

  • Awesome vocals and great humor!

by crazyookie on 7/26/10King Center for the Performing Arts - MelbourneRating: 5 out of 5

My mother and I went to the concert and had a blast. I never realized how funny Clay and Ruben were. Lots of good clean fun and incredible vocals. More songs than you can imagine from the 60, 70, 80, and 90's. If you are a fan of either singer, this is your ticket.

This concert was amazing. It is probably one of the most enjoyable concerts that I have seen at the King Center or any of the other places that I have attented concerts, including Orlando, New York, etc. I hope that Ruben and Clay come out with a CD, I would certainly purchase one.

All 5 performers were amazing. It was great music and great comedy. I could have stayed and listened all night!!!! The show stoppers were Those Magic Changes by Clay Aiken and I’m Telling You I’m not Going by Quiana Parler.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this show last night. All of the singers performed very well. We enjoyed the casual atmosphere and the stories that each singer shared. Lauren Kennedy was a joy to watch and listen too. Clay was just as good as always. Terrance Mann was amazing. Sharon was pleasant and did a great job as MC. Quiana was enjoyable. It was a good variety of music and you can tell that the performers put some thought into the choice of songs.

Enjoyed this show immensely. I didn't want it to end.

  • by TG75 on 6/22/10Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

The entire evening was a genuine delight. I was the informal format which made the performance more intimate and personal for the audience, as well as the fact that these performers are locally bred. Although Quiana Parler is a South Carolinian, she has such a close relationship with the other performers, so she blended in magnificently. Clay Aiken was superb; Lauren Kennedy is simply a special talent; Terrence Mann added class and was justifiably recognized for the many years he has selflessly given to the North Carolina Theatre; Sharen Lawrence seemed to have epitomized perpetual youth--she looks fabulous and has not lost any of her talented artistry. Accolades must be given to Edward G. Robinson and the superb orchestra which was simply fantastic. Quiana was the "Show Stopper" with her rendition of the hit song from "Dream Girls"--she "rocked the house" with a standing ovation and many cheers and whistles. It was simply a great evening and it demonstrated the fact that there is nothing like a live performance on the stage--this is what acting and the theatre is all about.

  • OMG concert

    by justclay12 on 4/5/10Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

I'm not sure why anyone going to this concert expected hits from past cd's since it wasn't advertised as such, but I was amazed by the whole show. The setting was beautiful and the things that Clay did with his voice was out of this world. I didn't think it was possible and I can't wait to see and hear it on PBS to remind myself of what he did. I have been a fan of Clay's since the first time he appeared on AI, and I have followed his career over the past 7 years, and I can say that I have never heard him sing better than he did on this night. I can't wait for others to be able to experience this.
