We sat in the loge section. The vantage point was surprisingly nice to watch a movie from. I had only ever watched a movie from the floor seats before. The sound system was perfection. The staff were very nice. Keep track of their screenings and you might find a movie you love but missed in theaters and get a chance to see it at The Balboa.
I am a huge movie guy and visit many of the theaters in San Diego County. The seats here are not bad from a comfortability stand point but they are cramped with no cup holders. It was such a pain every time someone had to leave to get up and move everything on the floor so it doesn't get stepped on or knocked over. The concessions are horrible and pricey. A very small thing of popcorn was $10. It makes regular movie theaters look like a bargain. They also serve Pepsi products which is not the popular choice in SD but it is what it is. If this is the only way to watch an older movie again, I guess it is ok. Other than that....hard pass.
They showed the entire film before starting comedy. It was a bit of a long wait therefore before the comedy portion. The people behind me were yelling and cackling the whole time - as well as kicking my chair. It was okay - but not great given my audience neighbors.
We all had a wonderful time at the event. The whole crowd was so into the experience.
Great nostalgia with lots of laughs. Family friendly.
I've never been to a movie sing a long before. The theater that this was at went all out to make this an awesome event. Had so much fun
The movie is awesome as always! And after not seeing it for over 20 years I forgot how much I truly loved the movie. Then add a packed Balboa Theatre which is awesome and wonderful audience participation, it is easy to smile, laugh and sing every song we memorized years ago! There were cow bells, poppers and other participating items. A great event. Will make this annually from now on. Park at Horton plaza and take ticket to get it validated for a $10 parking.
For my first experience in a sing-a-long, it was fantastic. My daughter and I enjoyed the preshow which was helpful in preparing you for the audience participation using the items in the goody bag. And the costumes were great and added a lot of fun to the event. I would do it again in the future!
I enjoyed the costume contest and the little bag of goodies help to make it fun.
We really enjoyed this movie sing a long... my 10 year old Granddaughter had a blast! Thank you
