About

Christopher Cross made history when his debut self-titled album was released in 1980.  The album featured the international hit songs Sailing, Run Like the Wind and Never Be The Same. It went on to win five Grammy Awards, including—for the first time ever—the four most prestigious awards: Record of the Year (for the single “Sailing”), Album of the Year, Song of the Year (also for “Sailing”), and Best New Artist.  An extraordinary song writer, Cross wrote all these songs and another of the most famous songs of the time - “Arthurs Theme (The best that you can do)” which he co-wrote with Burt Bacharach & Peter Allen and featured in the film Arthur that starred Liza Minelli and Dudley Moore.    Arthur’s Theme won the 1981 Academy Award for Best Original Song.

Christopher Cross has also worked with some music greats and shared the stage with some music icons – from Mike McDonald – who sang backing vocals on Ride Like The Wind through to singing backing vocals with Carl Wilson on David Lee Roth’s version of California Girls.

Early in his career Christopher Cross and his band were the opening band for Led Zeppelin and Jethro Tull whilst in 1970 he subbed in for Ritchie Blackmore from Deep Purple for a show in San Antonio.

Thirty years since his stellar debut into the music business, Cross continues recording and touring across the nation, stopping at venues such as the Depot (Salt Lake City). He has released multiple albums and continued to contribute to film and tv soundtracks – including shows such as 30 Rock (he wrote Lemon’s Theme for the soundtrack).

His most recent album, Secret Ladder was released in 2014. The 13 track album, influenced by the likes of Joni Mitchell and Randy Newman, was written mostly with Rob Meurer and again Cross has worked with the finest musicians including bassist Will Lee (of the Fab Faux and Late Night with David Letterman), drummer Keith Carlock (Steely Dan and Toto), guitarist Eric Johnson, saxophonist David Mann, and vocalists Michael McDonald and Jeff Foskett (Brian Wilson’s musical director.

  • Magnificent Concert!

by Pammy on 6/3/19Island View Casino - GulfportRating: 5 out of 5

The Christopher Cross Concert was nothing short of excellent. His music transcends many generations of fans young and old. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience and will attend again the next time he plays on the coast. The venue was a bit disappointing and did not do his music justice, the video screens were very small. The concert venue at the Beau Rivage with their large back drop would have been perfect to view the videos accompanying his music. I would gladly pay two or three times the amount to see him on a grander stage. Love his music!

  • Disappointed

  • Enjoyed the Concert

    by J. H. on 4/17/19Deadwood Mountain Grand - DeadwoodRating: 3 out of 5

Seats were terrific. I was very surprised that he did some of his top hits right away. It has been my experience that the first couple of songs is where the sound is fine tuned. I did enjoy the concert as Christopher Cross has always been a favorite artist of mine and his musicians were very talented.

  • Great Concert

by RichandGin on 4/17/19Deadwood Mountain Grand - DeadwoodRating: 4 out of 5

Overall we both enjoyed the experience. Christopher Cross and his crew gave a great performance. I really enjoyed listening to his live performance that brought back memories from my teen years. Also enjoyed listening to some of the newer music that I had never heard. I'll be going out to purchase some of those albums now. The only thing that made me mark this down a bit is during some of the lyrics it seemed like he was chopping down the words. Maybe it was just inflection during a live concert or the mic levels. With that said, I do understand there's a difference between a studio performance and live. Overall, Great Job by the whole crew and I would definitely recommend to others.

  • What a great experience...the whole band was exceptional.

  • Christopher Cross Concert at the Majestic Theater Dallas

by Eachann Her on 4/13/19Majestic Theatre Dallas - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Very good concert. Christopher Cross played all his hits as well as a variety of songs from all of his published material. He gave insight into the development of each song and meaning of lyrics and album covers that were used. The concert was at the Majestic Theater in downtown Dallas. The theater was built in 1921 and is listed as a National Historical Landmark. The theater really needs a restoration. If you want to see a fully restored theater of that era see the Plaza Theater in downtown El Paso, Texas.

  • A bit disappointing

    by A. D. on 4/13/19Majestic Theatre Dallas - DallasRating: 3 out of 5

The venue was great however his old hits were few and far between. Didn’t care from some of the newer stuff but overall it was enjoyable just not amazing like I had anticipated.

I was a little skeptical not being very familiar with his entire body of work. I was so surprised, pleasantly so! He is a master storyteller and we had a delightful evening.

    1. Start on time! 2. The sound was terrible. We've seen shows in the venue in the past that had great sound. It's not the venue. 3. Start on time!

Great group of musicians. Enjoyed the storytelling behind some of the songs . Christopher Cross didn't have the voice he had back in the day but still sounded good.

Christopher Cross, has a very quiet and easy going concert. His Band members are extremely talented, and well versed in their performance. The two women, he had with him, were fantastic singers and enjoyed listening to them. All-in-All, would attend another concert by Christopher cross anytime.
