About

Christopher Cross made history when his debut self-titled album was released in 1980.  The album featured the international hit songs Sailing, Run Like the Wind and Never Be The Same. It went on to win five Grammy Awards, including—for the first time ever—the four most prestigious awards: Record of the Year (for the single “Sailing”), Album of the Year, Song of the Year (also for “Sailing”), and Best New Artist.  An extraordinary song writer, Cross wrote all these songs and another of the most famous songs of the time - “Arthurs Theme (The best that you can do)” which he co-wrote with Burt Bacharach & Peter Allen and featured in the film Arthur that starred Liza Minelli and Dudley Moore.    Arthur’s Theme won the 1981 Academy Award for Best Original Song.

Christopher Cross has also worked with some music greats and shared the stage with some music icons – from Mike McDonald – who sang backing vocals on Ride Like The Wind through to singing backing vocals with Carl Wilson on David Lee Roth’s version of California Girls.

Early in his career Christopher Cross and his band were the opening band for Led Zeppelin and Jethro Tull whilst in 1970 he subbed in for Ritchie Blackmore from Deep Purple for a show in San Antonio.

Thirty years since his stellar debut into the music business, Cross continues recording and touring across the nation, stopping at venues such as the Depot (Salt Lake City). He has released multiple albums and continued to contribute to film and tv soundtracks – including shows such as 30 Rock (he wrote Lemon’s Theme for the soundtrack).

His most recent album, Secret Ladder was released in 2014. The 13 track album, influenced by the likes of Joni Mitchell and Randy Newman, was written mostly with Rob Meurer and again Cross has worked with the finest musicians including bassist Will Lee (of the Fab Faux and Late Night with David Letterman), drummer Keith Carlock (Steely Dan and Toto), guitarist Eric Johnson, saxophonist David Mann, and vocalists Michael McDonald and Jeff Foskett (Brian Wilson’s musical director.

  • Great time

by Carly B on 11/1/21Grand Sierra Resort and Casino - RenoRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was great! Christopher Cross preformed all his first album songs and his voice was good as it was when I saw his concert decades ago. The venue at Grand Sierra Resort in Reno was very nice.

  • Pretty dismal

by Lisa on 11/1/21Grand Sierra Resort and Casino - RenoRating: 1 out of 5

The artist relied on his backup singers to carry the show, so the performance was a disappointment. Also, advertising of the event led me to believe there would be a small string orchestra which was sadly not the case and would have improved the performance immensely. In regard to the venue, a extremely intoxicated man who had just peed himself was allowed to enter the event and I feel greatly for the individuals that he had to squeeze past to get to his seat. Also, I will think twice about booking again at the venue as I doubt anyone knew to throroughly clean his seat.

  • Smiles

by Jc on 11/1/21Grand Sierra Resort and Casino - RenoRating: 5 out of 5

Cross not only is an original but has not lost a year on his voice. His sax etc player is very talented and the background singers added more fun and full harmony. I thought the volume on the background singers was a bit high when Cross was singing but a great night. Love the song Laura - but I wish he had ended on an up beat song-absolutely great stuff, quality performance from beginning to end. Go see him I could see them over and over and always go home with a smile!

  • Great I enjoyed every minute.

by J. K. on 10/30/21City National Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

We were a little late, so we were glad he got started late. We didn't miss a thing. The seat we had in the back which were fine. Not a bad seat in the house. It was good seeing an artist perform who we had been listening to for year.

Christopher Cross is EXCELLENT. Thank you. The venue was incredible and so accommodating. I recently had my left knee replaced and they treated me like a queen. Your fancy on the phone tickets DO NOT WORK WITH ANDROIDE PHONES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by B Dawg on 10/30/21City National Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Fun concert. Love the venue. Easy in, easy out. Very convenient. The atmosphere and ambiance was nice. Staff was friendly. Christopher Cross still has it. It was fun singing and dancing to his songs. Good times.

  • Christoper Cross Concert

by Blessie on 10/30/21City National Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 4 out of 5

Overall it was a good performance. However, the concert did not start until 8:20, which is disappointing. The backup singers also sang the majority of Alright, which is not cool.

  • Brilliant show. Brilliant venue

by Ray on 10/30/21City National Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

The show was fantastic but the real star was the service I got from the venue. I recently had an accident and have to be in a wheelchair. The folks at the Grove of Anaheim made sure I was set from ticket office to seat to me ride home. Kindness goes a long way. Seems this is what they teach their staff. Hats off to the Grove!

  • Not the Best

by RAnde on 10/26/21Showroom at Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 3 out of 5

Sound Mix? Instruments and back-up singers were well heard, even loud. Christopher Cross...You could hardly hear. I thought it was me, but I got the same feedback from others attending the show. He is an amazing guitar player, but his singing is quiet anyway. His mic needs to be turned up!

  • You don't know what you don't know

by Still Buzzing on 10/25/21Showroom at Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 5 out of 5

This is one of the most stellar shows I have ever attended (and I go to A LOT of shows). From the pianist, to the backup singers, to the saxophonist (INCREDIBLE), to the drummer, to the bassist, to Mr. Christopher Cross himself (WOW CAN HE SHRED!), the entire performance demonstrated absolutely stellar and impeccable (maybe even jaw-dropping?!?) musicianship. The venue was intimate and comfortable with top-notch acoustics. Some (maybe just me..har har) may say "Ride Like the Wind" brings all the Karens to the yard, and it certainly did, but honestly, I LOVED the whole thing. Go! You will thank me.

  • Chris Cross is the best!

by Dave on 10/25/21Showroom at Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 5 out of 5

The TalkingStick Showroom is a great venue to watch a concert. Small and intimate not a bad seat. I sat on the first row of the balcony and could see everything and the acoustics were great. Christopher Cross is just the nicest guy and just love his music. I hope he returns. I would love to see him again!

  • Great concert mediocre venue

by Seattlefan on 10/25/21Showroom at Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 4 out of 5

It was really heartwarming to see Christopher Cross back on stage. He performed all of his hits off the first album and more. He had a great accompanying group that complimented him. His voice range wasn't what it used to be, but got better as the night went on. Great rapport with the audience and a really feel good night. Unfortunately it was somewhat ruined by two obnoxious table mates, who talked throughout the concert, including the big rowdy guy who talked loudly on his cell phone during the next to last number and then swore threatening f bombs at us when we asked him to step outside for the call.. Also, people were supposed to wear masks, but they quickly came off for about half the audience, who seemed. compelled to talk throughout the show. Ironically, Chris almost died from Covid, but some of the fans didn't observe basic protocols. The venue's sound system is also mediocre, although video screens helped you see the performers.

  • CC 2021

by Bo on 10/25/21Showroom at Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 3 out of 5

We understand he CC had Covid and have sympathy for that however he really has a lot of trouble singing and that made the show a bit disappointing. Not sure if we'd see him again.

  • Good Performance

by Mags on 10/25/21Showroom at Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 5 out of 5

Listening to him sing you couldn't tell if he was 70 or 30. His voice was perfect. After what he went thru with COVID I'm shock on how well he performed. His back up singers and band were top notch. I'm really glad I was able to see the show and thoroughly enjoyed listening to his hits.

  • Venue was intimate, the performer was phenominal!

by Suzanne on 10/25/21Showroom at Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 5 out of 5

After the all the isolation and distancing measures we have endured the past 18 months of our lives, Christopher Cross was the best medicine that could come along! An inspirational and personal musician.

  • Great Venue, Great Music, Great Backup Singers

by Loved it! on 10/25/21Showroom at Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 4 out of 5

This was a fun concert. The venue was perfect with the exception of having to wear masks. The sound was great and of course, the music brought me back. Chris' back up singers were wonderful.

  • Reminder would have been nice

by Mike on 10/22/21Treasure Island Resort & Casino - WelchRating: 1 out of 5

This had been rescheduled in covid multiple times and last reminder was in June. Forgot about it and missed the concert.

  • Kudos to Christopher Cross and band

by Kolffan on 10/20/21Brown County Music Center - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Played a string of hits (but oddly left out Alright') and was funny too. His ccovid recovery you could tell drained his energy a bit (maybe disappointed not a sell-out concert) but really enjoyed the show plus the band's energy. These all were smooth musicians! Only one encore song (Laura unplugged version) left mecwanting more. But dlad I came. He sounds the same, have his debut vinyl album.
