About

Christopher Cross made history when his debut self-titled album was released in 1980.  The album featured the international hit songs Sailing, Run Like the Wind and Never Be The Same. It went on to win five Grammy Awards, including—for the first time ever—the four most prestigious awards: Record of the Year (for the single “Sailing”), Album of the Year, Song of the Year (also for “Sailing”), and Best New Artist.  An extraordinary song writer, Cross wrote all these songs and another of the most famous songs of the time - “Arthurs Theme (The best that you can do)” which he co-wrote with Burt Bacharach & Peter Allen and featured in the film Arthur that starred Liza Minelli and Dudley Moore.    Arthur’s Theme won the 1981 Academy Award for Best Original Song.

Christopher Cross has also worked with some music greats and shared the stage with some music icons – from Mike McDonald – who sang backing vocals on Ride Like The Wind through to singing backing vocals with Carl Wilson on David Lee Roth’s version of California Girls.

Early in his career Christopher Cross and his band were the opening band for Led Zeppelin and Jethro Tull whilst in 1970 he subbed in for Ritchie Blackmore from Deep Purple for a show in San Antonio.

Thirty years since his stellar debut into the music business, Cross continues recording and touring across the nation, stopping at venues such as the Depot (Salt Lake City). He has released multiple albums and continued to contribute to film and tv soundtracks – including shows such as 30 Rock (he wrote Lemon’s Theme for the soundtrack).

His most recent album, Secret Ladder was released in 2014. The 13 track album, influenced by the likes of Joni Mitchell and Randy Newman, was written mostly with Rob Meurer and again Cross has worked with the finest musicians including bassist Will Lee (of the Fab Faux and Late Night with David Letterman), drummer Keith Carlock (Steely Dan and Toto), guitarist Eric Johnson, saxophonist David Mann, and vocalists Michael McDonald and Jeff Foskett (Brian Wilson’s musical director.

  • Truly amazing!

by Sandy on 8/13/22The Walker Theatre - ChattanoogaRating: 5 out of 5

You can tell Chris’ voice is not as strong as it once was, but despite the lingering affects of COVID, he and his fellow performers made the night truly amazing! Praying he continues to regain his strength and mobility so he and this super-talented group will be able to continue entertaining others with his unforgettable collection of songs and sounds!

Played everything from his first album and the audience had a blast. GSR was a nice venue for him.

  • Worth the nearly two-year wait!

by Wen on 11/13/21Majestic Theatre Dallas - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

This show was postponed several times due to the pandemic and other issues, but the nearly two-year wait was worth it! Christopher and his band and backup singers put on a fantastic show! We loved it and want to sail away with him again as soon as we can!

Good concert with a little storytelling thrown in. Venue is good and security entry was easy (this concert). No lines for any services. Haven't listened to this music since, well a long time ago.

Great concert. He is still enjoyable to see and hear. Thank you Christopher for continuing to tour.

  • Hoping for more of Christopher Cross.

by MMJ on 11/7/21Grand Sierra Resort and Casino - RenoRating: 2 out of 5

We were so excited to hear Christopher Cross perform and that iconic voice of his. However, most of his performance was his back up singers sashaying to the music as if it was their show, singing for him. The band was great, also drowned out his vocals. It was quite obvious just how talented the 3 men were. Piano, drums and that horn player...wow, he was fantastic! They all left the stage and he sang a song, just him,...we finally could hear that voice we came to hear. Then they all came back on stage and again, drowned him out. I get that he's older and has been ill but, the show was disappointing. Lose the girls and amp up his mic!

  • Still Going Strong!

Amazing performance, Christopher Cross concert in Dallas, TX! Loved his singing, alone on the stage! He is so gifted & loved his personal stories! Dedicated his 40th Tour to Healthcare Essential Workers!

  • It's all about the vocals.

    by T-Mc on 11/5/21Majestic Theatre Dallas - DallasRating: 4 out of 5

The vocals on most of the songs were not loud enough to be heard with the full band playing. The acoustic and encore were great. The response when the microphones all went dead was excellent. Grab an acoustic guitar and have an old fashioned audience sing along.

Wonderful evening with Christopher Cross! He’s so funny! Very grateful he overcame his health issues of 2020! Brought me back to my high school days listening to his soothing voice. And the acoustical set was magical! Great concert!

Great venue. Loved the old school feel of the faux velvet seats and architecture of the theater. Simple set up on stage , great back up singers, musicians were top notch. Christopher was wonderful, his stories were so interesting, he played his heart out. Lovely and talented man!! I had no idea he had been so ill and was just happy to be playing his music. All around great experience!!

  • Wonderful concert, Christopher Cross was as great as ever!

by VikkiRae on 11/5/21Majestic Theatre Dallas - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Beautifully done show, I loved all the little stories he shared and the interaction with the audience. The 3 female backup singers were SUPER TALENTED and were the perfect match up for CC. They also seemed to really be enjoying themselves despite being at work. The sax player was incredible along with all the band. Loved every moment of it! Oh, and CX’s new song that was French was beautiful!

  • Still at It in Fine Form

    by D.R. on 11/5/21Majestic Theatre Dallas - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Christopher Cross was in fine voice and great on guitars. His band played as a professional jazz ensembled mixed with Cross' blend of rock. The background singers helped the show soar to new heights. I enjoyed the bits of storytelling immensely.

  • Chris Cross

by Keith on 11/5/21Majestic Theatre Dallas - DallasRating: 4 out of 5

Venue was outstanding. Sadly, Chris Cross can’t sing powerfully any more. It was sad to see his recent illness robbed him of his “old” voice. However, the band and the backup singers were awesome! With some of his old tales, the show was very enjoyable.

  • A Wonderful Evening!

by STMR on 11/1/21City National Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Such a lovely evening. Christopher Cross played all of the hits and then some. The band sounded fantastic, especially Andy Suzuki!! What a talent!!! He played sax and a few other instruments. Christopher connected with the audience by telling fun stories and experiences he had throughout his journey. The band was on point and backup singers sounded great! So glad I didn't miss this 40th anniversary tour!

I went with my son and we had a great time. The seats in the balcony were perfect. This was on my bucket list to see CC in person. The show didn’t disappoint. Now I can check this off my list.
