About

Christopher Cross made history when his debut self-titled album was released in 1980.  The album featured the international hit songs Sailing, Run Like the Wind and Never Be The Same. It went on to win five Grammy Awards, including—for the first time ever—the four most prestigious awards: Record of the Year (for the single “Sailing”), Album of the Year, Song of the Year (also for “Sailing”), and Best New Artist.  An extraordinary song writer, Cross wrote all these songs and another of the most famous songs of the time - “Arthurs Theme (The best that you can do)” which he co-wrote with Burt Bacharach & Peter Allen and featured in the film Arthur that starred Liza Minelli and Dudley Moore.    Arthur’s Theme won the 1981 Academy Award for Best Original Song.

Christopher Cross has also worked with some music greats and shared the stage with some music icons – from Mike McDonald – who sang backing vocals on Ride Like The Wind through to singing backing vocals with Carl Wilson on David Lee Roth’s version of California Girls.

Early in his career Christopher Cross and his band were the opening band for Led Zeppelin and Jethro Tull whilst in 1970 he subbed in for Ritchie Blackmore from Deep Purple for a show in San Antonio.

Thirty years since his stellar debut into the music business, Cross continues recording and touring across the nation, stopping at venues such as the Depot (Salt Lake City). He has released multiple albums and continued to contribute to film and tv soundtracks – including shows such as 30 Rock (he wrote Lemon’s Theme for the soundtrack).

His most recent album, Secret Ladder was released in 2014. The 13 track album, influenced by the likes of Joni Mitchell and Randy Newman, was written mostly with Rob Meurer and again Cross has worked with the finest musicians including bassist Will Lee (of the Fab Faux and Late Night with David Letterman), drummer Keith Carlock (Steely Dan and Toto), guitarist Eric Johnson, saxophonist David Mann, and vocalists Michael McDonald and Jeff Foskett (Brian Wilson’s musical director.

It was a very good concert. He still can do it after 40 years and 71 years young. I forgot how talented he is on the guitar. I am glad he came to our small town of Grand Junction Colorado.I got to check the concert off my bucket list!!

Christopher Cross and his band played straight through. His hits, the audience sang along with him. He talked about Dudley Moore, and about how he recovered from being so ill. The band was very talented. Christopher can still hit the high notes. Great finish with ," Remember Laura!"

by Rach Stone on 9/20/22Ludlow Garage Cincinnati - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

This was my third time seeing Christopher Cross live. This show was the best one yet. It is clear that he is energized after his recent health issues- and his voice and energy are better than ever. He has also surrounded himself with excellent musicians and vocalists, who only enhance his sound. I recommend seeing him live if you can!

Has been on my bucket list for years. Finally, at the age of 48 I was able to see Christopher Cross live AND at The Factory which is a top of the line venue. I truly enjoyed the concert and have been replaying the songs over and over in my head. He still sounds great.

  • Christopher Cross at the Factory

    by Mark_I on 9/19/22The Factory - ChesterfieldRating: 5 out of 5

Christopher Cross and his band put on a great show, full of fun and energy. To see him back on stage after his bout with Covid-19 and Guillain-Barré syndrome is almost a miracle! He played all the familiar songs and even a couple of lesser known, but entertaining, songs from his catalog. It was a great venue to see him perform, just large enough to feel the energy of the audience but still intimate. The acoustics were perfect!

Christopher Cross is truly one of the good guys in the music industry! He is wildy underrated as a musician and his vocals are still really strong at the age of 71. Experiencing "Sailing" live was a bucket list item that I can now check off the list. I was so glad to be able to attend! The Factory is an absolutely wonderful venue as well! Great acoustics and staff! The seats are very roomy and it is a beautiful set up.

  • Christopher Cross in St Louis

    by Jim D on 9/19/22The Factory - ChesterfieldRating: 5 out of 5

We have been fans of Christopher Cross for many years and certainly remember the "Christopher Cross" album that was being celebrated! But it's been a long time since I have heard many of the songs on that album and subsequent ones. Of course we all know the big hits. This tour included many of the songs that I'd forgotten. And you know what? We really enjoyed them all. Usually when I go to a concert and the artist plays something that is a non-hit, it's time for the bathroom for me. Not at this concert. It was jazzy...a lot. It was really fun with the back up singers dancing in form all night. Christopher Cross has lost a few notes but it didn't matter. We loved it! Also a shout out to the venue in West County. The Factory is a great place to watch a concert. I only hope they bring more acts like Cross and that era. Because I really know very few of the bands on the schedule and that's a shame.

  • Wonderful evening

    by MKS98 on 9/19/22The Factory - ChesterfieldRating: 5 out of 5

My husband and I went to the Christopher Cross concert on a much needed evening out. Cross sounds really great, especially considering his recent recovery from COVID and GBS. The musicians accompanying him and the women singing back up were also top notch. If you have an opportunity to see this tour, go! You won’t be disappointed.

  • Excellent very personal concert

Growing Up Christopher Cross was one of my favorite artists that I still listen to many years later. His 40th anniversary tour brought special meaning to him.. Chris shared his pandemic health crisis.. After his stay in the intensive care unit and a wheelchair for 6-months I think he is so grateful to be alive. Very touching to go down memory lane with him.
