  • C.S. Lewis @ The Lyric

    by Lady-ers on 12/24/24The Lyric Theatre - BirminghamRating: 5 out of 5

I first have to start with the venue, The Lyric Theatre, Bham, AL, since the events I attend are only at about 5 locations. The Lyric is amazing! From the ambience of a revived grand theater to the volunteers who are always smiling and helpful to the refreshment area and finally to the comfortable seating where you can actually see over the person in front of you, (I am short), the Lyric is highly recommended. The performance of C.S. Lewis was a delight! I have read books and watched performances about this great man and I think this actor did a very good job of representing him to this audience.

  • Great from start to finish...

by Gwendolyn on 12/24/24The Lyric Theatre - BirminghamRating: 5 out of 5

I love all things C. S. Lewis, so when I saw the play was coming to town, I immediately bought tickets. I must confess I had no idea what the play would actually be about. However, my husband and I were quite surprised and very pleased. It was a history lesson and the personal life of C. S. Lewis woven into one wonderful mesmerizing story. We loved every minute of it.

Wonderful, insightful, full of humor, reflections, sad moments and more, all superbly performed. Bravo.

  • Ok, but below expectation

by Charles on 12/21/24Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 2 out of 5

Not the lead performer that I was expecting. It was ok, but not great.

  • Entertaining show!

by Lewis Fan on 12/20/24Hoyt Sherman Place - Des MoinesRating: 4 out of 5

The performance was well-done - just rarely mentioned the relationship to Tolkein. We really wanted to learn more about his influence on Lewis' faith.

  • Touching

    by Charlie on 12/17/24Shea's 710 Theatre - BuffaloRating: 5 out of 5

I was very familiar with C. S.Lewis’ story, having read most of how works and portraying him in the stage version of Shadowlands. This performance captured the character’s essence and brought alive his story and most important relationships. The script was spot on and the acting was spectacular.

  • Insightful Look at C.S. Lewis

by KarenCupid on 12/10/24Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft LauderdaleRating: 4 out of 5

My husband and I have seen two other C.S. Lewis plays. We enjoyed getting to know more about this author. His stories about several Christmas events from long ago were heartwarming and insightful. We felt the second act drifted away from the Christmas theme. We enjoyed the show but not as much as his other two shows. The theater seating was comfortable, affordable, and provided a close up experience with the actor. The production was good, just not our favorite.

  • Fantastic Performance!

by Judy I. on 12/10/24Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed this event - loved every minute of it. If the Churchill performance by the same actor comes to the Center, we will be first in line to get tickets. As for this C.S. Lewis performance, it was a great way to kick off the holiday season!

  • Sweet Evening of Memorie

by Jude on 12/8/24Montgomery Performing Arts Centre - MontgomeryRating: 5 out of 5

The actor’s portrayal of CSLewis was so real, so thoughtful and relaxed that I had to convince the lady seated to me that he was not actually CS Lewis! I highly recommend spending the evening with CS Lewis plus reading his amazing writings. .

  • Wonderful!!

    by BARM3 on 11/27/24Gas South Theater - DuluthRating: 5 out of 5

Wasn't quite sure what to expect with this type of "one man show"format, but we were definitely pleasantly surprised. It was a great experience, we had 8 tickets, and everyone really enjoyed it! Would definitely do this again.

  • A wonderful evening out

    by E V on 11/23/24Gas South Theater - DuluthRating: 4 out of 5

I really enjoyed getting to know C.S.Lewis! I got to know him in a personal way, as a very talented and dedicated writer, close friend to a number of equally talented writers of the time, a kind and generous man who was open to falling in love at an older age and, although he suffered much grief from the death of Joy, he did not regret loving her and felt a desire to share that love (and grief) with others. I wish he would have shared more about Christmas and his renewed understanding of this very special event, especially after his conversion to Christianity, since this was Christmas with C.S.Lewis! I thought the actor was very good and he even looked like C.S.Lewis! I had recommended this event to friends from Church. There were 9 of us who attended and everyone enjoyed the show. The chairs that we sat in (the pit) were not very comfortable but the location and theater were great. All in all a very nice evening.

  • Christmas with CS Lewis

by Glaze on 12/21/23Howard L. Schrott Center for the Arts - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Interesting one man show with audience participation at times. Learned a lot about his life and that he wrote The Lion, Witch and Wardrobe for his goddaughter. Really liked this play!

  • Excellent Event

by It was very impactful and thought inspiring on 12/20/23Howard L. Schrott Center for the Arts - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

David was very good in his “channeling” his inner C. S. Lewis and giving the audience an opportunity to see what life can be.

  • Riveting

We are so pleased that we purchased our tickets and attended this fantastic one man show! We cannot say enough good things about the performance and the content. We highly recommend everyone seeing this show when the opportunity arises next year!! You will not be disappointed! Rich and fulfilling!

  • Great venue and actor

by Diane on 12/19/23Howard L. Schrott Center for the Arts - IndianapolisRating: 4 out of 5

Very good rapport with the audience and nice blend of story with funny anecdotes. I was hoping for more presentation of his Christian beliefs as opposed to more of a life story. Relating his relationship with Joy was very poignant, heartwarming and interesting.
