About

CHRIS BOTTI IN CONCERT:

Trumpet virtuoso Chris Botti has made a lasting impression on his audiences ever since his first touring gig with Frank Sinatra in the '80s. The trumpeter's style and grace can't be matched as he fills the room with the sounds of his 1939 Handcraft brass trumpet, spellbinding audiences with the instrument's rich tones. The Grammy Award winner has played with a number of legendary artists including Sting and Andrea Bocelli, captivating audiences with signature hits like "Regroovable" alongside classics like "Ave Maria." Chris Botti never fails to disappoint, and he's sure to take fans on a musical journey they won't soon forget with his string of 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Influenced by his mother's musical background, Chris Botti began playing the trumpet at age nine, but it wasn't until he heard the classic Miles Davis track "My Funny Valentine" several years later that he decided to pursue a career in music. During his senior year at Indiana University, Botti toured with Frank Sinatra, which led to a number of gigs with famous artists like Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin and Natalie Cole. Since then, he's released ten studio albums — seven have reached Top 10 spots on the Billboard Jazz chart — and sold three million records. He's also been the host of the radio show Chill With Chris Botti and performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra alongside John Mayer, Josh Groban, and Yo-Yo Ma. Back on the road in 2014, the trumpet virtuoso is set to captivate fans on his highly anticipated world tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Chris Botti and his group are the best of the best in the arena of ultra-talented musicians. Of course the handsome man with the horn never lets his audience down. Even though he performs 300 days a year, he gives the audience his all as though it's one show just for them."

"Not only does Chris Botti shine with his talents, he has top notch musicians and a singer to make it an overall outstanding, entertaining evening. ...will definitely try to see the next show!"

"Chris Botti was charming in relating to the audience, and put on a spectacular display of musicianship. He's one of, if not the best, at his craft."

My wife and I have been great fans of Chris Botti. What other better venue and romantic way to enjoy a summer evening at Greek Theather watching Chris Botti playing songs such as When I Fall In Love, Cinema Paradiso, Good Morning Heartache and lastly the terrefic performance with John Mayer of InThe Small Wee Hours. Chris Botti has talented muscians playing with him throught out the concert and other guest performers including violinist Caroline Campbell are amazing as well. We're looking forward to his future concerts and CDs.

  • An Amazing Show

by MarlonM on 7/12/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

Chirs Botti is not a one man show ! Botti's piano player along with his drummer, keyboard, and bass musicians put an outstanding show. Great melodies and flawless interpretations of some of the greatest songs ever composed. You will not be disappointed. From the opening act, Renee Olstead wowed the entire crowd with her strong and beautiful voice that is mature beyond her years. Then, Chris Botti was entertaining even between songs as he chatted up the audience and surprised even more with John Mayer joining him on stage. The Greek Theater is an amazing stage.

If you like jazz then you will really like listening to Chris Botti. He has a way of putting a different spin on jazz that makes it more enjoyable. Chris is a great trumphet player and his band make it all complete.

An excellent night at the Greek! We had the picnic basket before the concert an it was very nice and a great way to get ready for some super music! We love the sound system there. And being outdoors makes it fun. Watching the sunset and even the bats flying around having dinner!!!

  • Botti was AWESOME!

by Hattitude on 7/11/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

This was a totally enjoyable experience from start to finish. Chris Botti is a fantastic musician who has surrounded himself with fanstastic musicians. My only complaint was that it was over too soon. I would definitely go and see him again. Loved the impromtu performance by John Mayer.

  • Chris Botti - mindblowing

by bellastar on 7/11/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

I went to this concert fully aware of Botti's musical style, talent and ability to create moods. What i was not prepared for was the power of his musical talent in a live environment. His band was outstanding, the piano player in particular -- gifted. I will go see Chris live at every opportunity. if you get the chance - go .. you will be moved. P.S. Also, he experience some technical glitches with some of the sound. i loved the fact that he was not afraid to stop the performance to correct the sound. handled the pressure very gracefully.

The two best in their respective fields collaborated energy and a unique style that will serve as a standard of great music for a new generation. Please - Chris - bring Renee to San Diego with you this October.

  • An Evening to Remember

    by Musicman13 on 7/11/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 4 out of 5

Chris Botti proved once again how he can carefully blend straight ahead jazz, pop, and smooth jazz into a genre of his own. From the Ave Maria opener to a jazz tune surprisingly sung by John Mayer, Chris left the audience wanting more. The bass was overwhelming for the opening tune or two but the engineers finally got it right. His band were all extremely polished pros, especially pianist Billy Childs. I especially liked Sy Smith's singing especially on the Bacharach tune, The Look of Love. I look forward to hearing her more often in the future whether it be as a guest or on her own. The beautiful young woman violinist, Christine Campbell(?) was sensational with Chris on Emmanuel and Cinema Paraiso. It is hard to believe she was the backup for the girl who was originally scheduled.

  • Nice, Nice

The night was perfect, the sits were comfortable and the service was pleasant.

  • Chris Botti

by Delby on 7/11/09STANLEY CENTER FOR THE ARTS - UticaRating: 5 out of 5

The tickets were easily available through Ticketmaster. The seats were good. The theater was very warm, no evidence of air conditioning. Chris Botti was excellent!! He gave a great performance and his soloists just added to the overall enjoyment of the concert. The spotlighting wasn't always where it should have been. When there was a solo, sometimes Chris pointed to the soloist until the spotlight caught up with him/her. We have been to several performances at the Stanley Theater and thoroughly enoyed ourselves. It is also nice that the performers come out to the lobby later to sign CDs and posters!

  • An enchanting event

    by Nicholas34 on 7/11/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

Botti uses a most unlikely instrument to entice new emotions from a wide range of music genre. As individual musicians his band members are unbelievably accomplished but collectively they deliver not so much a concert as an experience.

  • incredible

    by Roxy444 on 7/11/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

Have you ever been to a concert, when you are being transferred into a different dimension? If the answer is NO, you probably never saw Chris Botti AND his amazing band in action. I have been a big fan of his music for years, and have seen him in concerts several times. And every time the same thing happens - incredible sound of Chris' trumpet, his music genius (AND his band members'), and the jazz genre make such a mix of emotions, feelings, and an experience that you don't ever want to end. I don't. That's why I keep going to see him again and again. And you know what - his shows are never the same. There is always something different, new element, new surprise guest...This time it was John Mayer, singing one of F. Sinatra's classics. There was also Sy Smith singing, and Caroline Campbell on violin (in a place of injured Lucia Micarelli). And last and not least - the band members - all talented musicians - Billy Childs on piano, Billy Kilson on drums, Mark Whitfield on guitar. If you are a jazz fan - you have to see Chris Botti. If you are not a jazz fan - you got to see him too. That's another thing that's great about Botti - the ability to interest anyone, no matter what you music interests are. But that's another story...

  • Chris Botti...beyond the best, a true artist

Chris Botti is a consumate artist in all respects; he communicates totally with his audience in all aspects. His mastery of the trumpet embodies an artistic perfection of orders of magnitude.

  • Botti and his band are all stars

I enjoyed Chris Botti and his band. I typically don't listen to jazz often but they are so good that I'm a changed person. Botti allowed his band members to showcase their talents and I'm glad he did... they were all incredible!

  • LOVED IT!
