About

CHRIS BOTTI IN CONCERT:

Trumpet virtuoso Chris Botti has made a lasting impression on his audiences ever since his first touring gig with Frank Sinatra in the '80s. The trumpeter's style and grace can't be matched as he fills the room with the sounds of his 1939 Handcraft brass trumpet, spellbinding audiences with the instrument's rich tones. The Grammy Award winner has played with a number of legendary artists including Sting and Andrea Bocelli, captivating audiences with signature hits like "Regroovable" alongside classics like "Ave Maria." Chris Botti never fails to disappoint, and he's sure to take fans on a musical journey they won't soon forget with his string of 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Influenced by his mother's musical background, Chris Botti began playing the trumpet at age nine, but it wasn't until he heard the classic Miles Davis track "My Funny Valentine" several years later that he decided to pursue a career in music. During his senior year at Indiana University, Botti toured with Frank Sinatra, which led to a number of gigs with famous artists like Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin and Natalie Cole. Since then, he's released ten studio albums — seven have reached Top 10 spots on the Billboard Jazz chart — and sold three million records. He's also been the host of the radio show Chill With Chris Botti and performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra alongside John Mayer, Josh Groban, and Yo-Yo Ma. Back on the road in 2014, the trumpet virtuoso is set to captivate fans on his highly anticipated world tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Chris Botti and his group are the best of the best in the arena of ultra-talented musicians. Of course the handsome man with the horn never lets his audience down. Even though he performs 300 days a year, he gives the audience his all as though it's one show just for them."

"Not only does Chris Botti shine with his talents, he has top notch musicians and a singer to make it an overall outstanding, entertaining evening. ...will definitely try to see the next show!"

"Chris Botti was charming in relating to the audience, and put on a spectacular display of musicianship. He's one of, if not the best, at his craft."

  • Incredible Show

by jazzneophyte on 7/14/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Stunningly beautiful renovated theater - amazing band - Mark Whitfield, Billy Childs, Geoffrey Keezer, Tim Lefebvre and Billy Kilson - brilliant and lovely vocalist Sy Smith and the immensely talented violinst Lucia Micarelli. What a night - never forget it!

  • excellent as usual!!

    by flirt725 on 7/14/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This is the first time I saw Chris Botti at the Beacon, I usually see him at the Blue Note, which is of course a smaller venue so I was definitely spoiled and a little skeptical to see him in a larger venue, but I was not disappointed, the sound was incredible as well as my seats and comfort.

  • Botti Is Best!

by JGraz on 7/14/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Great concert from start to finish! Great band as well. Loved all the in-between Botti chats about the songs and his influences during the concert! Also, a meet & greet before and after the show! That's bang for the buck! I'm a High School teacher from N.J. who's been making records since 1979! I plan on another Botti show soon in November !

  • CHRIS SENDS ME.................

by MESIUMAI on 7/14/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I have been to many of his concerts and sets, he never disappoints. His selecton of co-performers harmonize perfectly with the music he chooses for his audience. I close my eyes and I listen to the beauty of his music. The cares and problems of the day ( OF THE WEEK!) disappear. His music sends me somewhere else, somewhere soft and wonderful. Thanks Chris for sharing your gift with us.

The Beacon Theatre is a great venue to see a concert, everyone can see and hear no matter where you sit. Chris Botti always puts on a fabulous show, with surprises and great music.

What an amazing concert, at every level. Chris Botti on trumpet was magical and he is such a great host. So gracious. His ease and comfort on stage made it feel so intimate. I would go see him again and again and again.

  • Chris Botti in Concert at the Beacon Theatre

by Oddity on 7/14/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Chris' performance was simply spectacular! The same is to be said about his band and its members. The audience was in awe listening to their music and showed their appreciation by listening intently and being quiet. I was just very happy to have taken my husband for his birthday at this special event. We both love Chris' music. It was a great event.

  • Disappointing

by Sonnycuel on 7/14/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 2 out of 5

No opening act!!!!!! , which was very surprising especially in NYC. Are you kidding? With the traffic coming into the city? Started promptly at 8pm, many people still trying to get to their seats, very distracting. He did not play any of his Italia songs, EXTREMELY disappointing. He seemed rushed..... I was looking forward to this event, even invited and talked him up to friends with little knowledge of Botti.....it was just ok.

First time seeing Chris Botti and we had a terrific time. He gave an incredible performance and his band was wonderful as well.

  • needs some new material!

by sweetmusic on 7/14/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

He's great -- charming, talented - has fabulous band and guests...HOWEVER, he keeps repeating same 'shtick' stories and anecdotes -- he needs to get some new 'material' - and maybe some new tunes too! We follow him to other venues - Blue Note, Carnegie Hall, and buy his CD's -- but he's getting very repetitive and it's starting to annoy me.

  • Great performance!

by RichUpstateNY on 7/13/09STANLEY CENTER FOR THE ARTS - UticaRating: 5 out of 5

Botti makes each concert personal. He walks up the isle playing his horn and tells personal stories throughout the concert. His talent is incontrovertible and his presentation in concert makes it that much better. I would see his show again and again.

  • Can't Beat Botti at the Greek!

by BigDD on 7/13/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

We saw Chris Botti two years ago at the Santa Barbara Bowl when he opened for Diana Krall. While we were already familiar with him and his music, we did not anticipate that his performance would eclipse that of Diana Krall. He and his band were simply awesome. Here it is 2009 and he's headlining at the Greek, preceded by his protege, Renee Olstead---we're there! Great combo of talents... unbeatable venue..perfect evening, made even more special with the surprise appearance of John Mayer. Botti's trumpet playing is very exciting, and his very natural style of interacting with the audience via personal and fun/ny anecdotes adds an intimate dimension to the concert experience that is unexpected and enjoyable. He is extremely generous with his band, too, giving them tons of individual showcase time.

  • Chris Botti give you it all to you!! Great show

by LovelyLiz on 7/13/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

Fabulous show!!! Loved that Chris Botti showed his humor and the way he connected with the audience. I loved that he is so connected with his band and gave them each a moment to shine, and they really were great! He had a wonderful woman who sang, and the violinist was wonderful. Chris was great, there was some mic problems on the violinist and he stopped the song each time so that we got a perfect performance!!!

  • Chris is Wonderful

by mlopez on 7/13/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 4 out of 5

The concert was great and the venue was awesome. I wish he would have had more singing guests. But having John Mayer was a treat - although he does not have the best voice.
