About

CHRIS BOTTI IN CONCERT:

Trumpet virtuoso Chris Botti has made a lasting impression on his audiences ever since his first touring gig with Frank Sinatra in the '80s. The trumpeter's style and grace can't be matched as he fills the room with the sounds of his 1939 Handcraft brass trumpet, spellbinding audiences with the instrument's rich tones. The Grammy Award winner has played with a number of legendary artists including Sting and Andrea Bocelli, captivating audiences with signature hits like "Regroovable" alongside classics like "Ave Maria." Chris Botti never fails to disappoint, and he's sure to take fans on a musical journey they won't soon forget with his string of 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Influenced by his mother's musical background, Chris Botti began playing the trumpet at age nine, but it wasn't until he heard the classic Miles Davis track "My Funny Valentine" several years later that he decided to pursue a career in music. During his senior year at Indiana University, Botti toured with Frank Sinatra, which led to a number of gigs with famous artists like Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin and Natalie Cole. Since then, he's released ten studio albums — seven have reached Top 10 spots on the Billboard Jazz chart — and sold three million records. He's also been the host of the radio show Chill With Chris Botti and performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra alongside John Mayer, Josh Groban, and Yo-Yo Ma. Back on the road in 2014, the trumpet virtuoso is set to captivate fans on his highly anticipated world tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Chris Botti and his group are the best of the best in the arena of ultra-talented musicians. Of course the handsome man with the horn never lets his audience down. Even though he performs 300 days a year, he gives the audience his all as though it's one show just for them."

"Not only does Chris Botti shine with his talents, he has top notch musicians and a singer to make it an overall outstanding, entertaining evening. ...will definitely try to see the next show!"

"Chris Botti was charming in relating to the audience, and put on a spectacular display of musicianship. He's one of, if not the best, at his craft."

  • Chirs Botti was delicious

    by lady45 on 7/11/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

If the concert can be compared to a meal, it was a full course banquet. The weather was great and the mood matched it. When the violinist played I was so moved that I couldn't help it but the tears came down. I had never seen chirs Botti live but I will definitely see him again.

Chris Botti is an extremely talented musician and so respectful of all other musicians as well. Very refreshing to see. Very charming and a lot of great contact with his audience. One of the best shows I have ever seen.

  • Fantastic evening !!!

    by Rudy2525 on 7/10/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

The music and people were absolutely incredible...Renee is off the charts and Chris is always the greatest....his band is beyound belief...and the Cuz was better than Donna Summers...and then to have John Mayer at the end .....as I said in the title...."Fantastic eventing" My only complaint is with the Greek T. we had to leave our bag of goodies at the gate when we entered.(carmel corn, nuts, and a rasberry tart) I hope the staff enjoyed it as it was gone when we came out !!! Hollywood Bowl lets you bring in food to munch on during the perfromances...get with it Greek T....you may have lost me for future events...

  • Outstanding

by Closetjazzlover on 7/10/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

This was a truly outstanding and classy show. My wife, who usually doesn't enjoy concerts and is not particularly fond of jazz, LOVED it. Highly recommend

  • Chris was perfect and gorgeous as usual

by serena on 7/10/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen Chris several times both with Sting and on his own and he never disappoints. He has loads of character and exudes just as much charisma. Your always sure to get a grade A band playing with him, not to mention special guests at the microphone! If you love jazz see Chris Botti he's the real deal.

  • Botti was awesome!

One of the greatest concerts I have ever seen/heard. The violinist was extraordinary. Definitely a must see.

  • Precious melodies flew LA's nightsky last night!

by LadyMelody on 7/10/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

One word: Illuminating! He is such a powerhouse when it comes to the trumpet! I could literally feel every musical note fly away from his trumpet and into the night sky. From Ms. Renee Olstead's great vocal range to a wonderful surprise visit from John Mayer, it just got better and better! This also includes the funny and charming moments each talented musician demonstrated among their own sets (i.e. the drummer handing his sticks to a fan in the middle of his beats or the violinist's wonderful rendition of Cinema Paradiso). What took me by surprise was his genuine presence. The audience could feel that he was among friends because he was funny, honest and charming as we were discovering his funny anecdotes. I feel bad that I lost my poster waiting to go home but I know the memories of this show will linger for years to come.

  • Chris Botti was outstanding !!!

I had forgotten how beautiful the Greek Theater was but seeing Chris Botti there made it that much better ! He is so much fun to watch and the sound was extraordinary. I've seen him at three venues and feel this was the best and most enjoyable...

Great show. He's an amazing talent. Wonderful evening.

  • Chris Botti delivers!!!

by JerroPerro on 7/10/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

Chris Botti's performace at L.A.'s Greek Theater was an unforgettable experience. His engaging showmanship, talent, and supporting band kept me cheering for the entire set. Opening with Ave Maria lulled the audience into a trance before slamming them with an electrifying jam session that was tempered with ballads, standards, and even classically arranged music. The surprise appearance by John Mayer singing a standard put the audience into a cheering frenzy.

  • Sexy trumpet player

by Estorga on 7/10/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

I always buy tickets when he's in the area (Southern California). Such an amazing and sexy trumpet player. I just get lost in his music and appreciate every note he plays. His band is exceptional and they are truly all cherry picked to be on his tour. Breathtaking.

  • Botti @ the Greek

by Scotty on 7/10/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

Well, he didn't bring the house down but he got us on our feet a couple a times.... And very personally played to the audience as if he were at the Blue Note in NYC....A much smaller venue for sure...but still seem to be able to "touch" the audience.... The Back up band was equally amazing...especially the (2) Billie's...and the violinist Ms. Campbell was terrific despite troubles with the sound system...where on (2) occasions Botti stop the music and had the techies fix it...and then started again. But the Drum solo...Best I've seen...From Sandy Nelson to Phil Collins....WOW!!!

  • Cinema Paradiso and Emmanuel are wonderful

by Cesaria on 7/10/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

Overall I love all the songs Chris played, especially the one coupled with John Mayer...

  • The concert was amazing!!

by JONES on 7/10/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

Not only was Chris Botti amazing but everyone who participated in the concert. From the musicians to the vocalist. Renee Olstead has a surprisingly amazing singing voice.

  • Chris Boti was outstanding

by tbirdfan on 7/10/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

We went to the Chris Boti show because Renee Olstead was going to sing and we were fans of her and knew a little about Chris Boti. Well it turned that we were pleasantly surprised to be thoroughly entertained by Boti and his band. The show was fantastic from start to finish. What was the best, besides his outstanding trumpet playing, was that he connected with the audience, had wonderful guest artists and an amazing band. Loved Chris telling stories about his life and John Majors surprise appearance at the end of the show was great. The venue was great except for the stacked parking. That needs improvement. While Renee Olstead did not get too much time she is still someone to be watchng. She has a beautiful voice. Maybe someday Chris will have here sing during his show. All in all it was a great experience.

  • Botti - Mesmerizing!

by Zeegy on 7/10/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

Chris Botti at the Greek was a Mesmerizing evening. His wonderful sense of humor brought laughter and smiles from the Audience throughout the evening. Chris, and all of the members of his band are talented musicians that become "one" with their instruments. I saw Chris for the first time last year at the Hollywood Bowl and was blown away. I cannot wait to see him again!

Chris Botti pays a hot Trumpet. He has a great personality. He interacts with the audience. I truly enjoyed his show. His Special Guest was Renee Olstead, she was very good too. I would buy tickets to see his concert again. He had John Meyer as a suprise guest at the end of the show.
