About

CHRIS BOTTI IN CONCERT:

Trumpet virtuoso Chris Botti has made a lasting impression on his audiences ever since his first touring gig with Frank Sinatra in the '80s. The trumpeter's style and grace can't be matched as he fills the room with the sounds of his 1939 Handcraft brass trumpet, spellbinding audiences with the instrument's rich tones. The Grammy Award winner has played with a number of legendary artists including Sting and Andrea Bocelli, captivating audiences with signature hits like "Regroovable" alongside classics like "Ave Maria." Chris Botti never fails to disappoint, and he's sure to take fans on a musical journey they won't soon forget with his string of 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Influenced by his mother's musical background, Chris Botti began playing the trumpet at age nine, but it wasn't until he heard the classic Miles Davis track "My Funny Valentine" several years later that he decided to pursue a career in music. During his senior year at Indiana University, Botti toured with Frank Sinatra, which led to a number of gigs with famous artists like Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin and Natalie Cole. Since then, he's released ten studio albums — seven have reached Top 10 spots on the Billboard Jazz chart — and sold three million records. He's also been the host of the radio show Chill With Chris Botti and performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra alongside John Mayer, Josh Groban, and Yo-Yo Ma. Back on the road in 2014, the trumpet virtuoso is set to captivate fans on his highly anticipated world tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Chris Botti and his group are the best of the best in the arena of ultra-talented musicians. Of course the handsome man with the horn never lets his audience down. Even though he performs 300 days a year, he gives the audience his all as though it's one show just for them."

"Not only does Chris Botti shine with his talents, he has top notch musicians and a singer to make it an overall outstanding, entertaining evening. ...will definitely try to see the next show!"

"Chris Botti was charming in relating to the audience, and put on a spectacular display of musicianship. He's one of, if not the best, at his craft."

We were introduced to Chris Botti recently by our friends in the UK ... and were so pleased that while we were on vacation in LA that we were able to see him live in concert at the Greek Theatre. It was truly a very memorable evening ... and such beautiful music and talent displayed. The trumpet has never sounded so good!! .... added to which other most amazing muscians and endearing personality from Chris himself.

This is the third show in two years the three of us have seen. While we enjoyed the show, CB needs to change his stage patter and his songs. We have essentially seen the same show three times. We want to go again to the Blue Note this December. We hoep to see a new show. CB, are you listening?

  • Chris Botti live at Greek theatre

    by Henry777 on 7/17/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

I saw live performance of Renee Olstead for the first time. She was young and pretty lady, but has incredible voice. After her performance, Leonard Cohen's songs including Chris' favorite " A thousands kisses Deep" had been playing until Chris appeared. That was well directed as a part of the show. It started with " Ave Maria". His trademark of long long note was wonderful as always. I always cannot help listening to Billy Childs' beautiful and dynamic piano solo in " When I fall in love". "Flamenco Skectches" from Kind of Blue reminded me of Miles band. I wish I could have seen playing Chris with Miles Davis. Every time I hear this song, I remember bassist Bob Hunst and miss him. " Emmanuel " and " Cinema Paradiso" were so beatutiful collaboration between trumpet and violine. Though Carolyn Campbell performed these songs instead of Lucia, their tones were a little different. Lucia's tone is clear and Caroyln's is soft. But the peformance was emotional as always. I love airy singer Sy Smith. The combination of her scatting and trumpet's tone was exquisite. "Indian Summer" featuring Billy Kilson was highlight of the latter part of the show. I became caught up in his supernatural stick work. Guitarist Mark Whitfield entertained audience with comical performance playing " Iron man" guitar riff of Ozzy Osbourne. After curtain call Chirs said, " Next song is no introduction". At the moment a tall man appeared on stage and was greeted with wild shrieks. It was John Mayer! He sang " In the wee small hours of the morning". This was my dream duet with Chris and the greatest moment of the show. I cannot take my eyes off this band! Trust me. This is my sister's preview.

  • Chris Botti was not bad.

by bcfury on 7/16/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

I would prefer if Botti performed more of his own material and did not bring out so many guests, especially vocalists. I expect not to hear so many vocals when seeing a trumpeter perform. The show ended on a rather down note when he went accoustic and walked into the audience on the orchestra level which left fans upstairs in the dark as far as seeing and hearing him play. He is extremely talented and entertaining and that is the point; I wanted to hear alot more from him.

  • Exceptional concert

  • Chris Botti and Gang

    by Mimi2009 on 7/15/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

It was very very entertaining. The music was beautiful and he kept the audience entertained. I brought my husband along who really isn't into jazz music and he really enjoyed Chris Botti. We look forward to seeing him again when he is on on tour.

  • Botti and supporting cast awesome

by visionkeeper on 7/15/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Botti's jazz background came to the fore in a big way---bringing me back to early Freddie Hubbard was a special treat---he is talented in so many areas----and his ease and humor captivated his audience

  • I loved it

by winelover on 7/15/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

What a wonderful show. Ms. Olstead is such a powerful performer, I was awed by her vocal talents. Chis Botti is as always terrific to watch and listen to and John Mayer was a fabulous surprise! Loved it all.

  • Botti is the BEST!

by Barbee on 7/15/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

First time seeing Botti in concert, and I was not disappointed. He, and the band are "to die for"! So incredibly talented. I personally love the way he interacts with the audience - really makes for an intimate evening spent with friends. And, did I mention that the Beacon is now beautifully restored? The combination - it dosn't get any better than this! Barbee

  • Beautiful music in an awesome theater...

    by TLB1 on 7/15/09Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Not a bad seat in the beautiful Beacon theater (confusing seat numbering logic aside), great acoustics,.and thoroughly enjoyable performance by Chris Botti and his group of incredibly talented musicians. Was thoroughly impressed by Chris Botti's announcement that he would be available in the lobby following the concert to autograph posters and albums. Was disappointed that in exiting the theater from the upper balcony, we were swept up in a crowd that ended up outside the rear of the theater, and were prohibited from re-entering the lobby to get our CD/DVD album authographed.

  • Chris Botti is amazing!
