About

CHRIS BOTTI IN CONCERT:

Trumpet virtuoso Chris Botti has made a lasting impression on his audiences ever since his first touring gig with Frank Sinatra in the '80s. The trumpeter's style and grace can't be matched as he fills the room with the sounds of his 1939 Handcraft brass trumpet, spellbinding audiences with the instrument's rich tones. The Grammy Award winner has played with a number of legendary artists including Sting and Andrea Bocelli, captivating audiences with signature hits like "Regroovable" alongside classics like "Ave Maria." Chris Botti never fails to disappoint, and he's sure to take fans on a musical journey they won't soon forget with his string of 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Influenced by his mother's musical background, Chris Botti began playing the trumpet at age nine, but it wasn't until he heard the classic Miles Davis track "My Funny Valentine" several years later that he decided to pursue a career in music. During his senior year at Indiana University, Botti toured with Frank Sinatra, which led to a number of gigs with famous artists like Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin and Natalie Cole. Since then, he's released ten studio albums — seven have reached Top 10 spots on the Billboard Jazz chart — and sold three million records. He's also been the host of the radio show Chill With Chris Botti and performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra alongside John Mayer, Josh Groban, and Yo-Yo Ma. Back on the road in 2014, the trumpet virtuoso is set to captivate fans on his highly anticipated world tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Chris Botti and his group are the best of the best in the arena of ultra-talented musicians. Of course the handsome man with the horn never lets his audience down. Even though he performs 300 days a year, he gives the audience his all as though it's one show just for them."

"Not only does Chris Botti shine with his talents, he has top notch musicians and a singer to make it an overall outstanding, entertaining evening. ...will definitely try to see the next show!"

"Chris Botti was charming in relating to the audience, and put on a spectacular display of musicianship. He's one of, if not the best, at his craft."

  • Chris is going to be the Paul Mc Cartney of Jazz!

by phototaz on 8/10/09Cape Cod Melody Tent - HyannisRating: 5 out of 5

If you were lucky enough to go see the Chris Boti show at the Melody tent on August 8th you saw a variety of soft soothing Jazz sounds mixed with exciting bass solos of Ozzy Ozbournes ironman! Chris played alot of popular tunes and as usual he made it look like playing the trumpet was like making a sandwich-Always the same on the outside but you never know whats going to come out of it. Then the violinist amazed the entire audience with her mello sounds and grace. To top things off Sy Smith also made an appearance and her voice rang out to the angels. It was my first time seeing Chris live and I was speachless! I predict he is going to be the Paul Mc Cartney of Jazz! A legend in the making!

  • Chris and the band members were unbelievable!!

by Jamie1 on 8/10/09Cape Cod Melody Tent - HyannisRating: 5 out of 5

I found Chris to be a very down to earth guy and the band members were outstanding. I plan on attending one of his concerts if he ever goes to Foxwoods or Mohican sun. He was outstanding.

  • An Unforgettable Evening of Music

by Leyna on 8/10/09Cape Cod Melody Tent - HyannisRating: 5 out of 5

After discovering Chris Botti through his PBS specials, my husband and I became fans of both his incredible talent, his special guests and the talent that he surrounded himself with in his band. The music and the arrangements took our breath away on the evening of August 8. Incredibly talented special guests and the personality of Chris Botti made the night magical. Whether he is spiraling to the screeching high notes or just being that trumpet player behind the singer or the violinist, he is the consumate musician and horn player. The diversity of his music appealed to all ages in the audience. His banter between songs added to the evening by really bringing us into his world and how he came to be who he is now as a performer. Thank you, Chris.

  • The entire evening was phenominal

by Ruda on 8/10/09Cape Cod Melody Tent - HyannisRating: 5 out of 5

Each of the musicians brought something special to the program. Carolyn was awesome, Ms. Sly was fabulous, and the drummer was amazing. The piano player/ program coordinator was wonderful. NOW CHRIS BOTTI!! I could just keep adding adjectives. He was spectacular. I also loved how he worked the audience and also highlighted each one in the band and the guests and gave them their own time to shine. ONE OF THE BEST CONCERTS I HAVE BEEN TO.

  • Chris Botti puts on a good show

by Haske001 on 8/10/09Cape Cod Melody Tent - HyannisRating: 4 out of 5

This is my second time seeing him in concert. I really like most of the songs. I'm not a fan of "way out" impovising, so that would be my only criticism. Most songs were not in that vain. All the musicians are very talented and I like the way Chris Botti acknowledges each one and actually removes himself from the spotlight when they're playing their solos. He seems very humble. He's also very entertaining during the segments of his show when he's talking to the audience. Well worth the price of admission.

  • Chris Botti and Band were unbelievable!

Chris Botti and Band were terrific! This was truly the best concert I have ever attended! Awesome and unbelievable!!

  • Chris Botti Amazing Musician

by SeatSnob1 on 8/9/09Cape Cod Melody Tent - HyannisRating: 5 out of 5

Great show with extremely talented musicians, Billy Childs(piano) and Bill Kilson(drume) were outstanding. The arrangements and technical expertise of these musicians was smooth and practically flowless. Chris' talent, style, charm and ability to relate to his audiences is second to none....a very fine musician...keep the music coming! Go to see him at the Blue Note in New York this winter! Hope Paula Cole is available to join the band next time.

  • Chris Botti at Melody Tent Cape Cod

by Lukey on 8/9/09Cape Cod Melody Tent - HyannisRating: 5 out of 5

Chris Botti was his usual magical self, playing with such purity of sound and talking with the audience in such an affable way. His accompanying piano player, Billy Childs is phenomenal as were his drummer and other band members. He brought on special guests including Sy Smith (sp?), the fabulous singer that you may have seen with him before. His regular violinist had an accident injuring her hand. Her replacement, Carolyn Campbell played the violin as I have never heard it before. Her performance was a masterpiece.

  • Chris Botti Magical Evening

by bottifan on 8/9/09Cape Cod Melody Tent - HyannisRating: 5 out of 5

Myself, my wife and our daughter (her first concert) went to the Melody Tent in Hyannis, MA on the evening of 8/8/2009 to witness a truly magical evening with Chris Botti and his amazing band. Mr. Botti, or can I be so bold as to call him Chris, has a sincere love of what he does and it just pours out from him in many different levels. The music was as wonderful as the numerous CD's we have and the DVD from Boston but being at a live show adds a whole new dimension that I highly recommend to anyone reading this review. He allowed his band members to display their amazing talents and seemed to be truly appreciative of the quality of musicians with him on stage. Aside from the wonderful music Chris seems to be the REAL DEAL as all his fortune and fame have not clouded his judgement or sincerity in dealing with his fans. He was kind enough to sign autographs and talk to people for quite some time after the show especially taking time to walk over to a few handicapped fans in wheelchairs to take picture and sit and talk for a while with them showing his true down to earth nature.

  • Chris Botti

by NWG3148 on 8/9/09Cape Cod Melody Tent - HyannisRating: 5 out of 5

I became a Chris Botti fan last night. Before last night my wife had bought a CD or two and and I enjoyed listening. However, seeing him perform with the other great musicians on stage was a real treat. Watching jazz happen like that is exciting. At times, it was almost as if the combination of instrumental sounds joining with Chris' trumpet as the lead, seemed to create a level of vocal quality that just seemed to sweep you into the moment. Chris' style on stage in how he engages the other players and the audience is very inclusive. He has an unselfish approach to the music which seems to draw the best out of everyone on stage. His invited quests seemed to just flow into the arrangements without effort and bring the music to a different place. I was rooting for the violin who was simply a wow! After playing under such pressure, it was like she was embraced by all the musicians on stage. All and all, a wonderful evening that I did not expect....

  • Chris Botti, Breathtaking!

by yayababy on 8/9/09Cape Cod Melody Tent - HyannisRating: 5 out of 5

I am his biggest Fan! He is the most talented and beautiful artist that I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. His band totally rocks!!!!!

  • Botti was Hot!

by littleone4571 on 8/9/09Cape Cod Melody Tent - HyannisRating: 4 out of 5

I loved the fact that you were so close to the stage. I didn't like the fact that you can't bring a camera because I missed out at the end of the show when he was signing autographs and taking pictures. I loved him in Boston and he was great in cape cod too.

  • Chris Botti was awesome!!

by Capecodder on 8/9/09Cape Cod Melody Tent - HyannisRating: 4 out of 5

Chris Botti was a great performance. From the start to the finish he had amazing energy. He kept the crowd completely engaged!! He spotlighted all of his band and his special guests as well. They all performed so well together. His piano player certainly deserved the 2009 award he received. He tied all of the performers together perfectly. The final encore was a wonderful touch to end on. Back to the basics with only the piano.

  • Chris Botti was spellbinding

by hammered on 8/9/09Cape Cod Melody Tent - HyannisRating: 5 out of 5

Then night before lat I saw Derek Trucks at the Cape Cod Melody tend and rated him 5 stars but the acoustics were awful for this kind of music. Chris Botti was another matter. His performance was mesmerizing, the band was great, and the acoustics were fine for such a quietly tasteful program. In many respects the evening was a repeat of Chris Botti in Boston. The audience was on its feet after the first song and there was never a letdown the entire evening. His band was, as always, extraordinary. And he had two special guests, a female singer from his Boston show, and a substitute violinist who both received standing ovations. This was more than a musical event, it was a night to never forget. Once you've experienced Botti in person you're ready to travel anywhere to see him again.

  • Botti and the band was outstanding

  • CHRIS BOTTI

by KAREY on 8/9/09Cape Cod Melody Tent - HyannisRating: 5 out of 5

Their were many a moments when I just leaned forward with my hands holding up my head and not believing I was realy seeing Chris. I didn't realize how great he sounds under the tent. I have all his CD's but nothing sounds the way it did tonight.

  • Opinion

by Sylvia41 on 8/9/09Cape Cod Melody Tent - HyannisRating: 3 out of 5

Botti was his usual wonderful self. I did not like to sit through one half hour of guitar and a 20 minute intermission to get to him. Also when I saw him at Symphony Hall the sound system was not as loud I found this too much for the tent. To top it off the blockded in parking was not acceptable. Again Botti was wounderful
