CHRIS BOTTI IN CONCERT:

Trumpet virtuoso Chris Botti has made a lasting impression on his audiences ever since his first touring gig with Frank Sinatra in the '80s. The trumpeter's style and grace can't be matched as he fills the room with the sounds of his 1939 Handcraft brass trumpet, spellbinding audiences with the instrument's rich tones. The Grammy Award winner has played with a number of legendary artists including Sting and Andrea Bocelli, captivating audiences with signature hits like "Regroovable" alongside classics like "Ave Maria." Chris Botti never fails to disappoint, and he's sure to take fans on a musical journey they won't soon forget with his string of 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Influenced by his mother's musical background, Chris Botti began playing the trumpet at age nine, but it wasn't until he heard the classic Miles Davis track "My Funny Valentine" several years later that he decided to pursue a career in music. During his senior year at Indiana University, Botti toured with Frank Sinatra, which led to a number of gigs with famous artists like Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin and Natalie Cole. Since then, he's released ten studio albums — seven have reached Top 10 spots on the Billboard Jazz chart — and sold three million records. He's also been the host of the radio show Chill With Chris Botti and performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra alongside John Mayer, Josh Groban, and Yo-Yo Ma. Back on the road in 2014, the trumpet virtuoso is set to captivate fans on his highly anticipated world tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Chris Botti and his group are the best of the best in the arena of ultra-talented musicians. Of course the handsome man with the horn never lets his audience down. Even though he performs 300 days a year, he gives the audience his all as though it's one show just for them."

"Not only does Chris Botti shine with his talents, he has top notch musicians and a singer to make it an overall outstanding, entertaining evening. ...will definitely try to see the next show!"

"Chris Botti was charming in relating to the audience, and put on a spectacular display of musicianship. He's one of, if not the best, at his craft."

by Jazzlovertrumpetboy on 9/26/09The Midland by AMC - Kansas CityRating: 4 out of 5

The band the Chris has put together is absolutely incredible! They are all fantastic musicians...I just wish they would stay away from the little commercial "pop" jazz (I know it pays the bills - but it also put me to sleep) Overall the concert was very well done (lighting sucked!...they need to fire the lighting tech.) Sound was decent..probably could use a new sound board man too. But the musicianship, incredible. EVERYONE in the band is at the top of their game! But I would recommend the concert to others.. Chris...less talk more playing! Have you ever been to a Metheny concert? He says it all with his guitar.

  • Chris Botti was exceptional!

  • Chris Botti Rules

by KirkH on 9/26/09The Midland by AMC - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

Chris Botti's show at the Midland in Kansas City was unforgetable. He and the band became one with the audience and the acoutics of the venue were simply perfect. What a great time merging both music and stories of the road. The group left me in awe as they have everytime I've seen them. I enjoyed the change in tempo on a couple of his favorites too.

  • Botti can blow!!!

by WinnebagoBob on 9/26/09The Midland by AMC - Kansas CityRating: 4 out of 5

Wow! what a great show in a neat setting. The renovation of the Midland is really cool. Having worked there way back in '68, it was neat to see the old place looking good. What a great venue for concerts like Chris Botti. As for the music and the show, it was everything we had hoped. Botti is a great talent. He is supported by some fantastic musicians, especially the drummer. That guy is truely like the front end of a rocket ship. I would highly recommend Chris Botti to anyone who has never seen one of his shows. Also, find someone you want to see who is playing at the Midland and GO!

  • Chris Botti is one of a kind

by PhllyBoss48 on 9/26/09The Midland by AMC - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

The show was absolutely amazing! Chris Botti is an exceptional artist. Blending the trumpet with different genres of music is not an easy task. He blends it with jazz, classical, and even some rock. He not only is a great musician, but a charming a witty person. The show along with the venue was very intimate. He can literally make the trumpet talk! He is one of a kind.

  • Chris Botti was awesome!

by saintkim on 9/26/09The Midland by AMC - Kansas CityRating: 4 out of 5

Chris Botti was awesome - he surrounds himself with amazing talent. The singer (cousin of the guitar player) was mediocre at best. Violinist was very talented but waaaay too dramatic for me. Bottom line > I would have liked to hear more of Chris and less of the others.

  • What a nite!!

  • Phenomenal Showman

by Hunter98 on 9/26/09The Midland by AMC - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

Chris Botti is the quintessential showman on stage. Not only does he prove to be an instrumentalists for the ages, he also embraces his audience like family. Part of the enjoyment of seeing Chris is enjoying the bountiful stories that he shares with his audience. Chris invites his audience to laugh(and cry) about the trials and tribulations of being on the road for 6 years. Though the Midland Theater was a beautiful setting for the concert, the light show put on (behind the scenes) was terrible. Chris has surrounded himself with amazing musicians on stage, yet the supporting cast of technical "gurus" left them on stage with no cloths on. I'm sure Chris wants his audience to leave his shows thinking, "Wow, that was an amazing show." However, that's not what I took away from the show at all. Yes, Chris and his posse were amazing musicians. The lighting was amatuer'ish' at best. I think everyone should see Chris Botti if they ever get the chance, just don't expect his supporting cast to be quite as amazing!

  • Chris Botti's sound is what Heaven Must sound like

by PattyKansasCity on 9/26/09The Midland by AMC - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

Chris will literally "blow" you away. Such a pure sound, like nothing I've ever heard. His Style and range is seriously off the charts! I love how Chris engages with his audience and between songs, tells a story connecting his life to the song. He's smart, sexy, funny and a sweetie...with an incredible talent, a true gift from God. You will be glued to your seat, energized, moved to tears and be better from having been his presence and having this experience. He has attracted the greatest contemporary jazz artists to back him up as his band. Chris highlights each band member and at the end of the show they each take 5 to showcase their individual talents. Truly REMARKABLE. His drummer, Billy Kilson steals the show with his amazing solo. You don't want to miss this. 4 standing ovations throughout the show!

  • What an amazing group of musicians!!

by suz09 on 9/26/09The Midland by AMC - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

I love Chris Botti, but what I didn't realize was how incredible each member of his band is. His drummer is absolutely amazing! They had a guest violinist that gave me goose bumps. Absolutely an incredible evening with exceptionally talented musicians. To top it all off it was at my favorite venue the Midland.

  • Chris Botti is remarkable

by BlueSpringsBBQ on 9/26/09The Midland by AMC - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

Chris Botti did not disappoint. He and his band are all remarkable musicians. This is my third time to see him in Kansas City, and I would go again. Caroline Campbell (?) replaced Lucia Micarelli and was awesome. Go see Chris Botti if you love great music. I am diasappointed in the Midland. The theater is beautiful and the sound was fantastic - but folding chairs? I wish the person who thought folding chairs had my seat last night with the stocky, antsy man next to him/her.

  • Chris Botti was fabulous

Not only was Chris Botti as fabulous as I expected him to be, but he has surrounded himself with some of the most amazing talent I have ever seen in a group. He selflessly shares the spotlight with all these amazing musicians to put on a most entertaining show. Bravo!!

The Midland rennovations were amazing. What a beutiful restoration! Chris Botti and the band filled it with heart & soul. So nice that Chris took the time to sign CD's and posters. He was very gracious. Glad I went.
