CHRIS BOTTI IN CONCERT:
Trumpet virtuoso Chris Botti has made a lasting impression on his audiences ever since his first touring gig with Frank Sinatra in the '80s. The trumpeter's style and grace can't be matched as he fills the room with the sounds of his 1939 Handcraft brass trumpet, spellbinding audiences with the instrument's rich tones. The Grammy Award winner has played with a number of legendary artists including Sting and Andrea Bocelli, captivating audiences with signature hits like "Regroovable" alongside classics like "Ave Maria." Chris Botti never fails to disappoint, and he's sure to take fans on a musical journey they won't soon forget with his string of 2014 tour dates.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Influenced by his mother's musical background, Chris Botti began playing the trumpet at age nine, but it wasn't until he heard the classic Miles Davis track "My Funny Valentine" several years later that he decided to pursue a career in music. During his senior year at Indiana University, Botti toured with Frank Sinatra, which led to a number of gigs with famous artists like Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin and Natalie Cole. Since then, he's released ten studio albums — seven have reached Top 10 spots on the Billboard Jazz chart — and sold three million records. He's also been the host of the radio show Chill With Chris Botti and performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra alongside John Mayer, Josh Groban, and Yo-Yo Ma. Back on the road in 2014, the trumpet virtuoso is set to captivate fans on his highly anticipated world tour.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"Chris Botti and his group are the best of the best in the arena of ultra-talented musicians. Of course the handsome man with the horn never lets his audience down. Even though he performs 300 days a year, he gives the audience his all as though it's one show just for them."
"Not only does Chris Botti shine with his talents, he has top notch musicians and a singer to make it an overall outstanding, entertaining evening. ...will definitely try to see the next show!"
"Chris Botti was charming in relating to the audience, and put on a spectacular display of musicianship. He's one of, if not the best, at his craft."

It was truly a lovely evening! Chris Botti's talent and wide spectrum was unbelievable.
I have now seen Chris Botti twice in Kansas City. He never ceases to deliver an amazing performance. He is so much more than a trumpeteer, the man and his band are fabulous performers. Their collective chemistry is electrifying. I will continue to attend his performances again, and again.
We saw him last year with the Symphony and was really looking forward to seeing him again. He didn't disappoint - I love that he tells us little stories about him and the band to help you get to know them all better. I also like that he took time to sign autographs afterwards. We would see him again.
We had never seen him in concert before and were very impressed. An extremely talented group of people made the music excellent and Botti's excellent personality and narrative added to the whole experience.
Surprised and disappointed at the rock-and-roll element of the concert Too short Reserved seating is horrible unless you're very close or sitting at a rail Center section very difficult to see over heads of those in front of you!
Chris Boti is a fine trumpet player who has assembled an amazing group of musicians. The show was certainly more than I expected and proved to be a very enjoyable evening. The crowd had obviously come for the music and were rewarded with a performance from very talented individuals.
The performance was incredible. Chris Botti is a class act all the way. His band was fantastic, and so were his guest artist. I love the Midland theater, I prefer it way more over Sprint or the other large venue's. My only complaint is that while our seats were pretty good in that they were center stage, we were right behind the control booth which was very distracting. I think when you request tickets, you should be informed if you are that close to the control booth so that you can make an informed choice. Whoever was doing the lighting did a poor job I thought. Overall, because of the talented Mr. Botti and his crew, I would do it again, they were sensational.
One of the best shows I have ever seen. His group of musicians are the most talented group I have ever seen. Period!
We have been to a few concerts of Chris Botti & have never been disappointed. His tonality is super. The additional instrumentalists are top notch.
I first saw chris botti on oprah and then caught his boston pops concert on the local pbs channel and was quickly hooked. I took my dad to the concert and we both loved it! i enjoyed chris botti's ad lib commentary between sets. his band was awesome - as were the special guests (violinist & singer). It was a great show that would appeal to various age groups. I would highly recommend it. He even visits with guests after the show which is rare these days.
Chris Botti and the musicians that accompany him are all so extremely talented. And the Midland was the best venue he has played in here in Kansas City.
Truly amazing performance by some incredibly talented musicians who obviously LOVED what they were doing. As someone said, a little less quartet and a little more Chris may even be in order -- at times the headliner was very nearly overshadowed by the band! Although Sy Smith was entertaining and very good vocally, the gain on her mic was waaaay too high and it nearly ruined her performance. All-in-all a *very* memorable evening. The duet with violinist Caroline Campbell and Billy Kilson's solo (drummer) were high points. The venue was fantastic for this concert, as it is for so many. The renovation was well done, save a few details (worn curtain swags, etc.), and -- would it be too much to ask for the light bulbs to be changed?!?! I'd swear the same bulbs that were out in May were still out in September! Stage lighting was fraught with errors and the sound waaaay too loud at times. Get the lighting techs some coffee so they can keep up and good lord -- do some sound checks!!
Chris has created a wonderful evening of music showcasing not only his amazing talent but that of an equally talented group of musicians. He was charming... sharing personal insights to the selections he performed. He was humble....stepping to the side of the stage and giving the spotlight to the other talented musicians he shared the stage with. He was impressive.....hitting and holding notes I haven't heard before. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
This is the 3rd time I've seen Chris Botti in Concert. The venue (AMC Midland theatre) was perfect. Had great seats. Dead center 23rd row orchestra level. Great acoustics, and the renovation was amazing. The only disappointment was that he didn't perform as much as previous engagments. He shared the performance more with his guests. He is very charismatic, and enjoys autographing items after the perfomance. He'll even take his picture with you if you're willing to wait.
Not only did we have great seats, but we felt a part of the entire show. Mr. Botti and his band performed an unforgettable concert. The MidLand Theatre in Kansas City, was a perfect vehicle for their performance. The entire band was awesome! It would be fabulous if Mr. Botti could make Kansas City an annual stop. We'd be there for sure. Looking forward to buying his Italian cd.
Loved the talent of all members on stage. Very enjoyable. Thank you for a great evening of great musical talent. Especially loved the violinist (sorry not good with names) and Chris playing together - Emmanuel and the other piece - love sonnet. As you can see I am not musically inclined but I do know excellent qualtiy when I see it. Billy Chiles and Drummer where incredible. Thank you!
Really enjoyed the concert as well as the renovations! The set was just the right length, but you can never get enough of Botti. His drummer was sick...which is a good term! Just wicked good. And loved the banter with his guitar player. The bassist was phenomenal and the keyboardist is a distinguished better-than-Grammy award winner? This was an amazing quintet. Add Sy Smith's vocals and the violinist (Kari? Katherine? Can't remember her name but remember her being barefoot) and this was the ultimate gathering this past Friday in Kansas City! I'm a violinist and jazz singer myself (my grandfather played with Basie at 18th & Vine) so do get a moment in your life to meet and greet with Chris Botti!
Chris is a great trumpet player with a superior band. We went to both the Edmond, Oklahoma and the Kansas City events. Ave Maria, Emmanuel, Caruso, and Time to Say Goodbye were my favorites. Billy Kilson - the drummer, was a show in himself! I thought a few in the crowd in Kansas city were rude at times. To much moving around and late arrivals although the audience appeared to like the show, Check out Chris Botti's Emmanuel on You Tube and you will be a Botti fan for sure.
Second time I've seen him live and would see him again in a heartbeat. The whole group and the interaction make you realize how talented people can be in music. Bring him back anytime.
