About

CHRIS BOTTI IN CONCERT:

Trumpet virtuoso Chris Botti has made a lasting impression on his audiences ever since his first touring gig with Frank Sinatra in the '80s. The trumpeter's style and grace can't be matched as he fills the room with the sounds of his 1939 Handcraft brass trumpet, spellbinding audiences with the instrument's rich tones. The Grammy Award winner has played with a number of legendary artists including Sting and Andrea Bocelli, captivating audiences with signature hits like "Regroovable" alongside classics like "Ave Maria." Chris Botti never fails to disappoint, and he's sure to take fans on a musical journey they won't soon forget with his string of 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Influenced by his mother's musical background, Chris Botti began playing the trumpet at age nine, but it wasn't until he heard the classic Miles Davis track "My Funny Valentine" several years later that he decided to pursue a career in music. During his senior year at Indiana University, Botti toured with Frank Sinatra, which led to a number of gigs with famous artists like Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin and Natalie Cole. Since then, he's released ten studio albums — seven have reached Top 10 spots on the Billboard Jazz chart — and sold three million records. He's also been the host of the radio show Chill With Chris Botti and performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra alongside John Mayer, Josh Groban, and Yo-Yo Ma. Back on the road in 2014, the trumpet virtuoso is set to captivate fans on his highly anticipated world tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Chris Botti and his group are the best of the best in the arena of ultra-talented musicians. Of course the handsome man with the horn never lets his audience down. Even though he performs 300 days a year, he gives the audience his all as though it's one show just for them."

"Not only does Chris Botti shine with his talents, he has top notch musicians and a singer to make it an overall outstanding, entertaining evening. ...will definitely try to see the next show!"

"Chris Botti was charming in relating to the audience, and put on a spectacular display of musicianship. He's one of, if not the best, at his craft."

  • Thank God for Good Girlfriends

    by jordan2240 on 11/22/09Hershey Theatre - HersheyRating: 5 out of 5

My girlfriend is a Chris Botti fan (pronounced with the long 'o' by the way), and she's the one who suggested this concert. I grew up a band geek, so have no qualms about attending such events, but didn't know that it would be her thing too. Thank God it is. From the two guest performers to every musician in the group, you will find no better talent anywhere. Be warned that this is jazz and it it loud, so if you are expecting something with set melodies (though there are some of those) and serene sounds (there are some of those as well), it might not be to your liking. But if you appreciate talent and amazing musicianship, you'll get that in abundance. I am most amazed at the ability of the group to seemingly play all over the place, but pull together perfectly at just the right time. But I guess that's jazz for you. I sat through this event with a smile on my face and my head bopping nearly the entire time. Incredible stuff.

An excellent concert! Not only was Chris Botti phenomenal but the singer and violin player was fantastic. In addition his ensemble cast of musicians was terrific. Chris was very personable and told some great stories. Very enjoyable. Each person who was part of the entertainment were excellent in themselves. Chris part together a great show!

  • Chris Botti was a musically stunning show.

by eightyeightkeys on 10/23/09Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen Miles Davis, Jeff Beck, Joe Satriani and numerousother shows at Massey Hall, and I have to say that the Chris Botti concert topped them all. Musicianship, the variety within the show was a big factor, the dynamics. Just outstanding. Being a professional musician, usually I get particularly glued to one or two players, but, the musicians performing with Chris Botti were so incredible, I was riveted by them all. Chris obviously put quite a bit of thought into the variety within the set and it was really appreciated. It was like a gourmet chef that put together the perfect multi-course meal. And thanks to the crew for the great sound and overall volume. Just perfect.

Had high expectations and he exceeded them. What an amazing performer. Don't miss a chance to see him!

  • One of the best Chris Botti concerts I've attended

by LAJJ on 10/19/09Montalvo - SaratogaRating: 4 out of 5

Chris opened with several of his popular songs and played them masterfully, as usual. But he really seemed more 'into' this performance as I've sometimes seen him play 'mechanically' without much emotion. Chris connected with the audience, even venturing into the seating area to be close to his fans. I really enjoyed the way he allows each member of his band to demonstrate their skills as each is an accomplished musician. I also enjoyed the guest performers, and David Benoit was an greatly appreciated treat. This was an extremely entertaining performance and I will continue to be a fan at his future performances!

I simply loved it. The venue, the ambiance and the show were all magnificent. The violinist and the vocalist were excellent. The only thing my fiance complained about was that the seats were to hard.

  • Cris botti

What a show. Cris Botti is a brilliant performer . He dredge the cold weather that nite and signed autographs for a long line of people, talking ,signing and letting others take pictures. Took time to talk to children too. Listening and watching him perform will mesmerize you . He is a down to earth performer.

  • Chris Botti was incredible

The show was phenomenal. I brought my two 11-year olds and they loved it as well. Great mix of playing and introducing the different songs. The guest artists were amazing.

  • The most beautiful & memorable concert ever!!!!!!!

by SanJoseChrisLover on 10/6/09Montalvo - SaratogaRating: 5 out of 5

Although it was freezing cold at night for outdoor performance, it was so amazing and beautiful. I was so glad that I could attend his performance at such an intimate setting at Villa Montalvo. Everything was so beautiful, and Chris and his band were the greatest! A violinist, Chris Campbell, was also amazing and I never knew the violin could be that beautiful. Overall, it was a magical night.

  • Botti's Hot!

by sneetches on 10/6/09Montalvo - SaratogaRating: 5 out of 5

He's a great entertainer, plays the trumpet and amazes me everytime! I think he's also great because he picks exceptional talent to surround himself - (piano player was my favorite) and lets them shine as well. I would like to see a little more from Botti himself, but loved his band and the pieces they chose as well. And what a treat to be able to see David Benoit on top of it all! I was in awe the whole night. Also, had never seen Caroline Campbell before and loved her performances. Nice to know that she's local as well - may have more opportunities to see her. Would see Botti and his band every year if he'd come back again.

  • Chris' Concert was beautiful!!

by MissEwe on 10/6/09Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San DiegoRating: 4 out of 5

The music was beautiful. The weather held and the acoustics were great. I was looking forward to hearing Lucia Micarelli but the Violinist who accompanied Chris Botti was wonderful too!! My only complaint is that it was a little short timewise compared to other Chris Botti concerts I have heard in the past.

  • Chris Botti

Chris Botti was amazing! everything about the event, from his talent, how charmingly handsome he is with the audience and his guest stars were amazing as well! Chris, you need to make it to Sacramento one of these days. If Phantom can make there, you certainly can too.....

  • Chris Botti... WOW!

by padd on 10/5/09Montalvo - SaratogaRating: 5 out of 5

I loved this concert. My second time seeing Chiris Botti in about a year, and I would go again tomorrow! All the musicians are great! And even the parking situation worked out really well at Montalvo wth the shuttle bus.

  • Unrestrained performance!

by Gotgoldens on 10/5/09Montalvo - SaratogaRating: 5 out of 5

This is the fourth time in 2 years that I have seen Chris Botti live. This by far was his best performance yet. His performance was unrestrained!!! He really showed his skill as a jazz trumpeter; Miles would be proud.. The surprise visit of David Benoit was such a special treat...how does he come up with this special guests? Chris Botti and his band could really bring it on and this was one outstanding performance.!!

Chris Botti was fantastic! His band was fantastic! We were thoroughly entertained and would see Chris again in a heartbeat.

  • Fantastic Music

    by harley122260 on 10/5/09Montalvo - SaratogaRating: 5 out of 5

Music was fantastic. Musicians are top entertainers. Disappointed that he didn't acknowledge the audience in the general seating area. The main focus was on the audience in front and center. Understand that he has to be center stage and perform there. But at some point he could give the general admission audience a quick "shout out" just to acknowledge that we were there and part of the audience. Guitar player did face and scan our area on several occassions.

  • Outstanding

by CollyJ on 10/5/09Montalvo - SaratogaRating: 5 out of 5

Outstanding venue and outstanding performer...each and everyone of Botti's band is a superstar.

Chris Botti put on one of best shows, and I've seen many of his shows. I was extremely pleased with his special guests and how they jammed.
