CHRIS BOTTI IN CONCERT:

Trumpet virtuoso Chris Botti has made a lasting impression on his audiences ever since his first touring gig with Frank Sinatra in the '80s. The trumpeter's style and grace can't be matched as he fills the room with the sounds of his 1939 Handcraft brass trumpet, spellbinding audiences with the instrument's rich tones. The Grammy Award winner has played with a number of legendary artists including Sting and Andrea Bocelli, captivating audiences with signature hits like "Regroovable" alongside classics like "Ave Maria." Chris Botti never fails to disappoint, and he's sure to take fans on a musical journey they won't soon forget with his string of 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Influenced by his mother's musical background, Chris Botti began playing the trumpet at age nine, but it wasn't until he heard the classic Miles Davis track "My Funny Valentine" several years later that he decided to pursue a career in music. During his senior year at Indiana University, Botti toured with Frank Sinatra, which led to a number of gigs with famous artists like Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin and Natalie Cole. Since then, he's released ten studio albums — seven have reached Top 10 spots on the Billboard Jazz chart — and sold three million records. He's also been the host of the radio show Chill With Chris Botti and performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra alongside John Mayer, Josh Groban, and Yo-Yo Ma. Back on the road in 2014, the trumpet virtuoso is set to captivate fans on his highly anticipated world tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Chris Botti and his group are the best of the best in the arena of ultra-talented musicians. Of course the handsome man with the horn never lets his audience down. Even though he performs 300 days a year, he gives the audience his all as though it's one show just for them."

"Not only does Chris Botti shine with his talents, he has top notch musicians and a singer to make it an overall outstanding, entertaining evening. ...will definitely try to see the next show!"

"Chris Botti was charming in relating to the audience, and put on a spectacular display of musicianship. He's one of, if not the best, at his craft."

This is the second show I've seen, the first one was at Blue Note. Chris Botti and his band is amazing!

It was a great night of music! They are some of the finest musicians in America today. Botti combined a true jazz respect for it being about the musician-the instrument-and the music, with a non-hardcore jazz fan program. Trumpeteer, pianist and drummer have talent like the all-time jazz greats had talent. They have a gig at the BlueNote in mid-December that I'm recommending to friends like it's a chance to see Miles Davis and Bill Evans going at it.

  • What a night of beautiful music!

I have seen Chris Botti many times before and never fail to enjoy a show. He is a superb communicator with the audience and you can tell from the minute he talks that he is so happy to do what he does each and every show. The band is amazing. From the piano player to bass, drummer, guitarist and keyboard. Some of the best musicians ever heard. They truly know how to play and work together. The special guests were also so talented and did a wonderful job. I play the violin so I was especially pleased to see that one of the special guests was Susie Park who played the violin beautifully. The Hershey Theatre is beautiful and the sound was breathtaking. Perfect for the Chris Botti concert. I left still hearing the melodious sounds of the trumpet in my head. What a wonderful evening!

  • Chris and his band were fabulous!

Chris and his band were fabulous Saturday night (Nov.21) at the Hershey Theater!!! They played for 2 hours and I could have listened to them for another 2 hours. Chris is truly an outstanding ambassador for jazz music. Cy Smith (vocals) and Suzie Park (violin) were great as well. Hope Chris returns to Central PA again soon!

show was very entertaining....Chris Botti is the centerpiece but still shares the stage with his fantastic band. They are extremely talented. The show was much like the Boston DVD....I wanted to hear more music from other CDs that I would be compelled to buy. fun to watch that drummer!

The concert was good, however I really expected to hear MORE of Chris Botti exclusively with that pure sound that he possesses so well, rather than his friends play their own instruments.

Second time seeing him. Always enjoyable. Nice to see a performer who is down to earth, personable and enjoys his audience, besides his ability to perform.

  • Chris Botti was terrific

by Rassam on 11/22/09Hershey Theatre - HersheyRating: 5 out of 5

This show was terrific! It was great that he conversed with the audience, it made it seem more intimate. The icing on the cake, he took the time after words to sign autographs for everyone that wanted one. He is an amazing trumpet player, everything sounded beautiful. We enjoyed the special guests he had, he is not afraid of the focus taken off of him.

  • Chris Botti + his band = AMAZINGNESS

    by tinkerbell9428 on 11/22/09Hershey Theatre - HersheyRating: 5 out of 5

Best show! So much talent on one stage! Kept me entertained! I felt like I had only been there 30 minutes, but it was actually 2 hours! If you get a chance to see him, go! You will NOT be disappointed!

CB was awesome... Suzie Clark, the pianno player. the whole act...

  • Botti concert loud and proud!

by chambersbros on 11/22/09Hershey Theatre - HersheyRating: 4 out of 5

Those expecting mellow, cool jazz were treated to strong sounds of some old school jazz and rock-n-roll. Stampeeding drum and base solos were great, if some what strong. I missed the mute, as it was only used sparingly in one song. One must conceed that all the talent on stage must be given some of the spot light.

  • Botti was absolutely AMAZING

Plain & simple - Chris Botti is at his best when he plays to a live audience...

  • Disappointed

by kenmar on 11/22/09Hershey Theatre - HersheyRating: 1 out of 5

A few years ago, we saw Chris Botti and David Sanborn at the Whittaker Center in Harrisburg, PA. It was an outstanding and well-performed concert. Last night, the concert at the Hershey Theater in Hershey, PA was basically loud noise from his band with little melodic sounds from him. In my estimation, he has strayed from the type of performance that has made him famous. He has one of the most beautiful sounding trumpets around today. I also believe that the public will not tolerate nor support the type of music that was displayed Saturday night.

  • Chris Botti

Chris Botti and band was absolutely, positively amazing! We have seen him about 7 times now and each show is ALWAYS better than the last. He and his fellow musicians are incredible and by far the best! Thanks for a great show!
