CHRIS BOTTI IN CONCERT:

Trumpet virtuoso Chris Botti has made a lasting impression on his audiences ever since his first touring gig with Frank Sinatra in the '80s. The trumpeter's style and grace can't be matched as he fills the room with the sounds of his 1939 Handcraft brass trumpet, spellbinding audiences with the instrument's rich tones. The Grammy Award winner has played with a number of legendary artists including Sting and Andrea Bocelli, captivating audiences with signature hits like "Regroovable" alongside classics like "Ave Maria." Chris Botti never fails to disappoint, and he's sure to take fans on a musical journey they won't soon forget with his string of 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Influenced by his mother's musical background, Chris Botti began playing the trumpet at age nine, but it wasn't until he heard the classic Miles Davis track "My Funny Valentine" several years later that he decided to pursue a career in music. During his senior year at Indiana University, Botti toured with Frank Sinatra, which led to a number of gigs with famous artists like Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin and Natalie Cole. Since then, he's released ten studio albums — seven have reached Top 10 spots on the Billboard Jazz chart — and sold three million records. He's also been the host of the radio show Chill With Chris Botti and performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra alongside John Mayer, Josh Groban, and Yo-Yo Ma. Back on the road in 2014, the trumpet virtuoso is set to captivate fans on his highly anticipated world tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Chris Botti and his group are the best of the best in the arena of ultra-talented musicians. Of course the handsome man with the horn never lets his audience down. Even though he performs 300 days a year, he gives the audience his all as though it's one show just for them."

"Not only does Chris Botti shine with his talents, he has top notch musicians and a singer to make it an overall outstanding, entertaining evening. ...will definitely try to see the next show!"

"Chris Botti was charming in relating to the audience, and put on a spectacular display of musicianship. He's one of, if not the best, at his craft."

Chris Botti is so talented, he is engaging, witty and funny. This was a great evening!

  • Botti was unforgettable!!!

by Galynn on 2/6/10Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

One of the best performances we have ever been to. All the musicians, and especially Botti, were well accomplished and great performers on their own. We especially enjoyed the violist, Caroline Campbell. What a great combination of her skills on the violin and Botti's greatness on the horn. Botti and Caroline played surperb together. We would love to have a recording of them togethere. In addition, Botti is funny and a great MC for his group.

What a perfrmance! Worth every penny I paid for 2nd row tickets. His band is wonderful, singer, and violinist -- what a show! And afterwards, he signed posters and CDs and what a nice person. His fans love him. If you have never seen him in person, you are missing something really great!!! I will definately go again and again. I love his music.

  • Chris Botti was great as usual but....

by Crossoverlover on 2/6/10Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

I realy enjoyed Chris Botti's playing, the duets with the violin player and the vocalist were wonderful and very enjoyable but my enjoyment of the total concert was deminished by too much drummer and bass guitar. Both of the latter were excellent of kind but I paid to hear Botti not a dummer who played so hard that he broke his stick and a bass guitarist . Next time I want to hear hris Botti I will stay home and play my CDs.

Perfection as always. It was good to see him in this venue as it is more intimate than the Keller Auditorium, was last time he was in town. He played all his best romantic favorites like Cinema Paradiso ,Emmanuelle and Halleluiah and many tunes from Boston. He has the same talented band members and Cie singing with variations from their memorable recordings. As always he entertains with long beautiful notes, expressive pacing. Mom was even in the audience! His stories about his career and Oregon make it even better. Can't wait to see him again.

An absolutely outstanding performance and concert. He is engaing with the audience, and he has outstanding musicians with him. Nice mix of songs and arrangments. I would see him again in a heart beat!! I was very impressed and was it a very enjoyable evening experience. Afterwards he took the time to sign any and everyone who had a poster or CD or anything for him to sign. NEVER have seen anybody do that before. I wasn't in the line (long wait) but I got a picture of him at the table signing an autograph, Chris is First Class!

by miskat on 2/6/10Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

Chris Botti and his band gave an excellent performance at the Arlene Schnietzer concert hall Friday night. He played primarily from the Boston live CD with a few extra's mixed in. His band included 2 keyboard artists, bass player, drummer ,lead guitar, violinist and female vocalist. Everyone brought their "A" GAME!

  • What a connection!

Chris Botti's band was the most amazing connected artists with their instruments, their craft and with each other. Most awe inspiring group I have ever seen!

I was disappointed there was so much jazz as I don't appreciate it. I planned on leaving at intermission but there was none. The violinist was the saving grace of the program. I also don't appeciate swearing and avoid entertainment at other venues to avoid that.

  • Chris Botti was AMAZING!

by InternationalOne on 2/6/10Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

He has an incredible restraint when he plays which makes you want to hear more. He also surrounds himself with unbelievably talented muscians contributing to your enjoyment. I don't really understand some of the jazz pieces they all go on with.

  • Incredible

Chris Botti is an amazing musician. He is very gracious and gives credit to other members of his band and his guest musicians. Chris has put together a great band. You can tell they are having fun and play together well. Chris connects with the audience in a very personal way. All the band members were very good musicians. I would see him again in a heartbeat.

  • Chris Botti was very enjoyable!

by kreative on 2/6/10Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

The Chris Botti concert at Arlene Schnitzer Hall in Portland was outstanding! We enjoyed his talented trumpet playing very much and were pleasantly surprised by each of his outstanding band's performances as well as special guest violinist and singer. He has a wonderful connection with the audience, pausing to tell stories about his career, and interact playfully with the front rows. He is a great story teller and was very humorous with his presentation. Overall, one of the best shows we have seen!

  • Chris Botti heading towards greatness

by Tricky16 on 1/30/10Kravis Center - West Palm BeachRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen Chris Botti with Sting on a few occasions and noticed the talent right off. This was the second time that I have seen him solo and his personal brand of music is refreshing to say the least. He is obviously a long time student of music and it shows with his soulful accompaniment on the trumpet. In addition, he has put together an impressive ensemble of accomplished, best in class musicians. His special guest that played the violin at the show was the best that I have ever seen. Billy Kilson on drums is ridiculously good, as evidenced by Sting's comments to Chris, "that is the best drummer I have ever seen." (sorry Stu). He only wants to see his special craft succeed and applauds young musicians. I will see him every chance I get.

  • Unforgettable!!!!!

  • Chris Botti and his band are Fantastic!!!

by ElizabethLovesChris on 1/29/10Kravis Center - West Palm BeachRating: 5 out of 5

Chris is not only amazingly talented, but he is also funny and has a great heart for young musicians. Chris surrounds himself with gifted musicians, they were ALL wonderful, but I was especially impressed with his piano player, drummer and guitar player… That drum solo was fantastic! The icing on the cake was the autograph signing; you don’t see musicians doing that much at all anymore. I hope Chris stays in touch with his adoring fans like he does now; keeping a close relationship makes us fans like him even more. Best of luck to you Chris, God Bless.
