CHRIS BOTTI IN CONCERT:

Trumpet virtuoso Chris Botti has made a lasting impression on his audiences ever since his first touring gig with Frank Sinatra in the '80s. The trumpeter's style and grace can't be matched as he fills the room with the sounds of his 1939 Handcraft brass trumpet, spellbinding audiences with the instrument's rich tones. The Grammy Award winner has played with a number of legendary artists including Sting and Andrea Bocelli, captivating audiences with signature hits like "Regroovable" alongside classics like "Ave Maria." Chris Botti never fails to disappoint, and he's sure to take fans on a musical journey they won't soon forget with his string of 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Influenced by his mother's musical background, Chris Botti began playing the trumpet at age nine, but it wasn't until he heard the classic Miles Davis track "My Funny Valentine" several years later that he decided to pursue a career in music. During his senior year at Indiana University, Botti toured with Frank Sinatra, which led to a number of gigs with famous artists like Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin and Natalie Cole. Since then, he's released ten studio albums — seven have reached Top 10 spots on the Billboard Jazz chart — and sold three million records. He's also been the host of the radio show Chill With Chris Botti and performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra alongside John Mayer, Josh Groban, and Yo-Yo Ma. Back on the road in 2014, the trumpet virtuoso is set to captivate fans on his highly anticipated world tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Chris Botti and his group are the best of the best in the arena of ultra-talented musicians. Of course the handsome man with the horn never lets his audience down. Even though he performs 300 days a year, he gives the audience his all as though it's one show just for them."

"Not only does Chris Botti shine with his talents, he has top notch musicians and a singer to make it an overall outstanding, entertaining evening. ...will definitely try to see the next show!"

"Chris Botti was charming in relating to the audience, and put on a spectacular display of musicianship. He's one of, if not the best, at his craft."

  • Botti comes home to praise and applause

by skipton on 2/10/10Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

One of the best, if not the best in the world for his trumpet playing accomplishments, and being grown and raised in Portland and Corvallis is even more reasons to be proud of this trumpet magician. His guests are wonderful as well, such as his pianist, his guitarist, his base player, and his drummer. The night unfortunately ended too soon. The performance lasted a little over two hours. I was hoping for an encore, but it did not happen. Chris was gracious to stay after the performance and meet with his guests and sign their CD'S, as were his drummer, and pianist. I can't wait to see and hear him again, playing at the Schnitzer, and hopefully with the Portland symphony. I love you Chris Botti.

  • Chris Botti and his band were amazing

by NewCBFan on 2/8/10Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

I have been a fan of Chris Botti since seeing his OPB special, Chris Botti in Boston, I was absolutely spell bound from the first note he played to the last. Chris has the most amazing sound I have ever heard. This was by far the best concert I have ever experienced, a lot of entertainers perform at you, Chris and his amazing band perform for you pulling you into the interaction with each song. They enjoy what they do and it shows, even more important they enjoy sharing their music with the audience. I can't get enough of his music, I hope returns to Portland often.

  • Chris Botti's performance was an absolute thrill!

by CorvallisFan on 2/8/10Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

Chris Botti's concert last Friday in Portland was an absolute thrill. He was relaxed, playful, and, as one of People Magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People," fun to watch. That goes for each of his five band members and his two special guests, too. All were captivating and oh so very talented. I was in the fourth row with a great view. It felt as if we were all in one of Chris' jam sessions many years ago.

  • Chris Botti. . . Awesome for all ages!

by jennib1986 on 2/8/10Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen him before and he is just amazing. What is really great is that his band members are truly talented musicians. . .as much as he is. You feel like you are watching a bunch of musicians who absolutely love to play . . .hangin out and jammin in their garage. All ages will enjoy him!

  • Chris Botti and the entire band ......just perfect

by Boracay on 2/8/10Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was exceptional....even far exceeded my expectations. Seats on the 4th were great. It was a perfect evening and I'm not easy to please.

  • Botti delivers!

by Doctor2 on 2/8/10Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

I seldom attend live concerts anymore, due in part to the cost and size of venue. However, I have not seen a concert of this caliber in many years....say, 30 or more! Talent and excellent management of the sound is what made this phenomenal. I was really hoping to see Kathryn McPhee, but, the other guests were incredible! The violinist literally brought me to tears, and, being a musician, myself, for 48 years, I can appreciate the level of expertise she portrayed. I remember seeing Chris at Delevans in Portland, with the Ron Steen Trio in the early 80's. He has developed into one of, if not the best, trumpet player of our time. His band is first class, and I would not hesitate to see him again.

Chris Botti and his band were spectacular! Flawless music that filled my heart and soul and sent me over the moon.

  • Great Show!

by MarathonJessica262 on 2/7/10Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

The Chris Botti show at the Arlene Schnitzer on Feb 5, 2010 lasted a total of 1 hour 45 minutes. During the performance, Mr. Botti spent time introducing his band members, and telling the audience about their amazing talents and successes. The drummer was especially notable and incredible. Two special guests came for this performance, violin player and singer (who is a cousin of the guitar player). After the performance, Mr. Botti had an autograph session. Performance value was exceptional, my husband and I recently went to the Santana concert in Las Vegas and had fourth row tickets; Santana was definitely not in the same league (entertainment value) as this concert was.

  • SERIOUSLY

by Daiber on 2/7/10Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

I had high expectations of this concert, having seen the OPB special from Boston, but truly, this event exceeded my hopes. Every moment was captivating. Even my friend (self-proclaimed ADHD) sat spellbound for the entire concert. We both had tears running down our cheeks more than once. Simply amazing. The evening was topped off by Chris joining his fans in the lobby to sign CD's and posters. Not something you see every day anymore. He signed my poster and seemed genuinely friendly. Very cool. I had great tickets, not expensive, but good. Orchestra level. Next time he's in town, I'm forking out for tickets near the stage. Music always communicates something. This music awakens your soul and has an intimate conversation with you. It is very moving.

Every time I hear Chris it is brand new again. Same songs , different arrangements. He was in home territory and Portland loves him.....and the band. They knocked themselves out.

All I can say is that no matter what type of music you are in to, the next time Chris Botti is in your town...go see him...he's worth the money. Top musicians backs his performance, this is a 5 star show. Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall...yeah she's been around for a while...but the acoustics is excellent.

  • Chris Botti A National Treasure!

by bennierussell on 2/6/10Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

We drove down from Astoria and then back after the concert. It was more than worth it. We particularly loved the violinist! We also appreciated Chris's way with the audience and the way he shares the stage with the other artists. I really can't say enough! Thanks. We will be back next time.

  • Great Concert!

by Bejazzed on 2/6/10Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

Talented musicians who obviously enjoy playing together made this concert a great event. Besides being a talented musician himself (an nice looking to boot) Chris Botti has an ear for picking perfection in his band. I highly recommend going to this concert. Chris Botti is very engaging and funny which added to the performance.

  • The Concert Was Stunning !

by Moolene on 2/6/10Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

What an evening of sheer talent! Botti was a gentleman, good announcer, the drummer was way over the top, the best I've probably seen...the pianist was so technical and supportive, and the female talent was amazing. The show was put together well and I liked how Botti staggered the introducing of the band. What a nice touch to invite travelling guests from San Fran to sit down in front. A very emotional evening for me.

  • Chris Botti has it all
