About

Chicago, at first dubbed The Chicago Transit Authority, immediately stood out due to their unique, horn-driven instrumentation and top-notch songwriting, a combination that quickly found a home on  free-form FM radio in the late '60s. After 45-plus years in business, Chicago's music has never left the airwaves and the band remains on tour more often than not, playing concerts in every corner of North America. With a catalog of hits  including "Saturday in the Park," "Beginnings," "If You Leave Me Now," "Baby What a Big Surprise," "You're the Inspiration," and "Hard Habit To Break," fans are always eager to snap up tickets to catch one of the most successful American rock bands in history. Four members of the group's current lineup -- vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist Robert Lamm and horn section members Lee Loughnane, James Pankow and Walter Parazaider -- date back to Chicago's formation in 1967. Even today, the band isn't just about nostalgia; Chicago continues to record new singles and albums regularly.

  • Great Experience

by Tater on 9/13/25The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

I took my dad to see Chicago at the Rady Shell in San Diego. It was also my first time using e-tickets. All went extremely well! The venue and the views down at the harbor were great - with a beautiful sunset adding it's touch. Not to chilly for my dad, and to listen to familiar songs ranging over the past 50 years were a bonding experience between my dad and I. These guys, in thier 70s are Still Belting It Out. What breath control! An inspiration. And, you know, with 58 albums out there, none of them need to be touring. It's for the love of the music, and it shows.

  • This was an amazing show

by Tammy on 9/13/25The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

This was so much better than I even anticipated. The night was beautiful, the musicians tight, and the vocals stunning. I was very impressed. I will definitely see Chicago again.

  • Great show!

We enjoyed this show very much. The band sounded great. The retro images were fun.

  • Fantastic band, venue and food

by MarJar on 9/13/25The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Opted to meet and greet the Band and the staff was fantastic. Had tableside service from the menu of top Chef Richard Blaise and it did not disappoint. Plus you cannot beat the backdrop on the marina at sunset.

  • Chicago - oldie but goodie

by Victoria on 9/13/25The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Always wonderful to go to Rady’s Shell to see a concert! The band is 58 years young and still going! Instrumental playing and voices were still wonderful to listen to to!

  • INCREDIBLE

by Bonnerita on 9/13/25The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

While I was not familiar with all of the songs, they were performed beyond my expectations. The ones I knew, the 60's and 70's songs, sounded like they were coming from a CD...but I knew they were being sung. If the Shell had no time limit on performances, they might have performed for a lot longer than over 2 hours. Looking forward to their next time here.

  • Hit after hit

by Nancy on 9/13/25The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

A memorable evening with the best of vocals, keyboard, trombone, trumpet, guitar and drums blended together to form the unique sound that makes Chicago a musical icon.

  • A great nostalgic time at an amazing venue!

by Budgold on 9/13/25The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

We have seen Chicago about 10 times over the years. But seeing them at The Rady Shell was one of the best shows. We weren't going to go initially, but our teenage son was insistent that he wanted to see them for his second time. We were glad he persisted. At first we were a little disappointed that only one original member was there for this show, our disappointment quickly waned after the first song. It was a great night of music and family memories at one of San Diego's best venues.

  • Can still play, just wish it were the Hits

by SDROB on 9/13/25The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San DiegoRating: 2 out of 5

We'd never seen Chicago perform before and were really excited to see them play and they started right on time, we had great seats at the Rady Shell in San Diego and then they even said they plan to play everyone's favorites.... I'll admit that the only Chicago I ever listened to is there Greatest Hits album which I grew up playing repeatedly over and over and know like the back of my hand.... that said, after 10-12 song, they had only played 1 we both knew and then they took a 20 min break. Was not a great start. After the break, 10 songs later (nearly 2 hours later), they had only played 2-3 more we knew and then a very very long musical jam session. At that point the wife and I were tired of waiting for songs we knew and just left early. Next day ran into others we knew who also went to event and found out they also left early for exact same reason (they had been to other Chicago concerts before and said this one was nothing like those and they just weren't playing the hits). So overall, spent alot on the evening (tickets, parking, dinners, food at the event) and left early and disappointed in the entire event. Personally would not recommend for any fan of Chicago music that grew up just listening to Greatest Hits album.

  • Old Days... It did bring back good times I remember

by Lisa on 9/13/25The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Great venue seating was excellent and big screen monitors made more personal

  • Great Concert . . . Bad Concession Experience

by Scott on 9/13/25The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

The music was fantastic, vocals were amazing. Good memories from college days in the 70's. Will definitely not be utilizing the Rady Shell concession again. The food and drinks are extremely over priced but the worst was not letting us know when our order was ready. After 30 minutes, I complained and received our order. You enter your phone number when you order to be notified when the order is ready. However, they were so overwhelmed they forgot to call some (or many) of the orders. Very poor organization and understaffing with this process.

  • Chicago concert!

by Mary Ann on 9/13/25The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

I really enjoyed the Chicago performance, especially at the Rady Shell amphitheater. It’s beautiful by the water. We have attended several Chicago concerts in the past years and I love their music, the horns and the singing voices of the singers. Takes me back to my youth!

  • FABULOUS

  • Chicago at Vina Robles

by Mark on 9/12/25Vina Robles Amphitheatre - Paso RoblesRating: 4 out of 5

Show started slow, songs not very familiar, but great band. After the 20 minute break they played all the hits. Amazing!

  • Great concert, great venue

by Nanclev on 9/12/25Vina Robles Amphitheatre - Paso RoblesRating: 5 out of 5

We saw Chicago at the Vina Robles Amphitheater in Paso Robles, CA. The venue is a great place for a concert. It is small enough that every seat is good. There are several places to get food or drinks as you enter. The sound system is very good. Chicago had a varied set list, playing most of their hits. The graphics were bright & colorful. The only drawback was the exit from the parking was chaotic. Entering the lot, there were many people showing you where to park. Exiting, there was only people directing traffic at the street, so it was a free for all in the lot. We literally sat without moving for 15 minutes, then had to aggressively merge into line. Having someone to direct at each row would have sped up the process. We were then directed to go out through the vineyard, along a private, dark windy dirt road. If possible, purchase preferred parking so you can be closer & are allowed to exit on a paved lighted road.

  • Great concert!

by JunQueen on 9/12/25Vina Robles Amphitheatre - Paso RoblesRating: 5 out of 5

the venue was easy to get to and beautiful. parking was easy and even though there was a looonnnnng line of people, it moved quickly. not a bad seat in the place - nice variety of food and drink. the band Chicago was awesome! the horn section showed up and def showed out and the vocals were so classic and on point. oh and the drummer!!! and the acoustic guitar - man, so many good hits and a lot of nostalgic memories.

  • Best Chicago concert out of three I have attended.

by Third time is a charm... on 9/12/25Vina Robles Amphitheatre - Paso RoblesRating: 5 out of 5

Fabulous encore finish with the famous 25 or 6 to 4!!

  • Chicago 9/25

by CB on 9/12/25Vina Robles Amphitheatre - Paso RoblesRating: 5 out of 5

The Vina Robles ampatheater is a great venue. All the seats have a good view as there are no big screens. The show started slow but the energy continued to build throughout the show. The 20 minute intermission seemed long. The show was energetic with almost all of their great hits. I thought the sound mix was off, as I would have enjoyed a stronger horn section.

  • Outstanding!

by Joblu on 9/12/25Vina Robles Amphitheatre - Paso RoblesRating: 5 out of 5

We just loved the show....amazing performers after all these years! Great night to be there, pleasant temperature, full moon. We did wish they had the big screens on either side of the stage to see the band better. Staff handles the flow of the crowd well.
