Chicago, at first dubbed The Chicago Transit Authority, immediately stood out due to their unique, horn-driven instrumentation and top-notch songwriting, a combination that quickly found a home on free-form FM radio in the late '60s. After 45-plus years in business, Chicago's music has never left the airwaves and the band remains on tour more often than not, playing concerts in every corner of North America. With a catalog of hits including "Saturday in the Park," "Beginnings," "If You Leave Me Now," "Baby What a Big Surprise," "You're the Inspiration," and "Hard Habit To Break," fans are always eager to snap up tickets to catch one of the most successful American rock bands in history. Four members of the group's current lineup -- vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist Robert Lamm and horn section members Lee Loughnane, James Pankow and Walter Parazaider -- date back to Chicago's formation in 1967. Even today, the band isn't just about nostalgia; Chicago continues to record new singles and albums regularly.

Comfortable, friendly location on a glorious Maine summer evening. Smooth entry and exit to venue and Chicago was amazing. Can I go again tomorrow?
Chicago/Bangor was fantastic! Seats were great! Food and beverage on the other hand out of sight! Need to lower those prices $32 for a vodka tonic yikes! I could buy a bottle of Grey Goose for that!! So no drinks for us, except seltzer, which was $6 a can, worst than Disney prices on the beverages. We had a great time but couldn’t spending $64 plus tax on 2 drinks.
Chicago still sounds great and we always enjoy the venue at Maine Savings Amphitheater in Bangor.
I sang and danced the entire time. So many hits. So many memories. Absolutely loved it!!
At first I was disappointed with so much instrumental. I guess I didn't realize they were strongest in the 70s. I grew up in the 80s. I however enjoyed the life review with the videos from days gone by. I really enjoyed seeing a band that has been playing for 50 years, still doing what they love in their 70s! Loved the performance!
The guys were good, sound was on key. I was disappointed they didn’t play many of their hits. Felt a little like watching Van Morrison not playing his hits.
Chicago sounded great! Even though only 3 original members are still around, the overall sound was still amazing and the horn section blew us away. Maine Savings Amphitheater was very nice. Would definitely go back again. Parking is not the greatest, at least where we paid to park. There were a lot of homeless sitting around and panhandling. No police presence whatsoever. I would think the venue would station a cop or two when you have to walk almost a 1/2 mile from a parking garage. Bottled water is $10. The wine was reasonable for a bottle and they give you a great plastic carafe. I beleive if you bring an empty water bottle, they have stations where you can fill it. Overall it was a lovely night and will definitely be back some day.
Getting into the venue was quite stressful the venue and performers were excellent I was told no tickets required with vip package which proved to be not accurate
Chicago was very good - excellent musicians, very tight, played pretty much all the songs you would expect. Very professional. Robert Lamm (original member) was not there, that happens with older bands but no mention beforehand or by the band. The 80's song set (4 songs?) in the middle was just as corporate schlock as it was in the 80's which to me was painful filler but the ladies were all in on that so took a break and got popcorn ($12 but it's a big bag, still have some). Lead singer - Neil Donell - was very very good, hitting those super high notes clearly, consistently and not straining. He's awkward on stage but he can sing. He can sing. I said that twice on purpose. Horns - as expected, tight, on the mark, they still define the band. Keys - mostly background but still good in the mix. Bass - excellent electric bass player, in the pocket but also could rip it up. Solid. Drums/percussion - Solid also, percussion solo was a highlight for many, entertaining fun but also sharp. Guitar - very good guitarist but even when supposed to at the front (25 or 6 to 4) he laid back and was mixed back. Overall, top of the line professional band with a huge catalog of hits that they played extremely well. Bangor venue is easily best in Maine and one of the best in New England. Sound was excellent - not too loud (peak at 95 dB) - but loud enough to enjoy without having to yell.
Some differences between venue rules and vip package rules
Excellent show; vocals were so terrific! Spectacular concert!
The band was right on! Beautiful night for a show! Left feeling full!
It is hard to believe that this band has been touring since it was formed in the late 60’s. They still have 3 original members and their lead singer can still belt out those high pitched songs! I would highly recommend this awesome 2 hours of classic songs that we grew up with in the 70’s and 80’s
They were great and engaged the audience and played all the hits and their voices are still great after all these years, will be seeing them again if they come back.
Probably one of the best venues for outdoor shows. The band musicians where just amazing. Very happy to have been there.
I realize that the band is older but, the concert was definitely dated and low energy. Additionally, it was not until more than an hour in that they played songs that people even knew. Bottom line, it was disappointing!
Vocals sounded spot on and they did all hits. Brass was excellent, percussion spot on.
. . . to July 29, 2025 at Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater (Bridgeport Amp to us CT locals). Chicago gave their music, heart and soul in 100 degree heat. So honored to be rocked by this incredible band. Beautifully mysterious thing. Hearts hearts and more hearts.
Sounded great. Lively show. All the old favorites played great crowd very well run
After years of listening to Chicago on the Radio, I finally decided to listen to them in a Live Performance! I got this chance when the band came to a Local Music Venue. The seating was good and I got what I consider to be the best view of the band! If they were to come around again, I would love to see them again!
