About

"‘Chicago' still GLITTERS HYPNOTICALLY." - Ben Brantley, The New York Times

There's never been a better time to experience CHICAGO, Broadway's razzle-dazzle smash. This triumphant hit musical is the recipient of six Tony Awards®, two Olivier Awards, a Grammy® and thousands of standing ovations. A sensational tale of sin, corruption and all that jazz, it's no surprise that CHICAGO has wowed audiences from Mexico City to Moscow, from Sao Paulo to South Africa. And now it's coming to your town!

If you're looking for your first Broadway musical CHICAGO has everything you could want: knockout dancing, an edge-of-your-seat story and one showstopper after another. If you loved the Academy Award®-winning film, nothing beats the live show, and if you are already intimately acquainted with the musical, experience that sizzle again, CHICAGO always delivers.

by tasjma on 9/10/09Fox Theatre Atlanta - Atlanta

I loved it.. all the actors did an outstanding job... I am a huge fan of the movie and I was not sure if I would enjoy the musical as much on stage.. both are different in their own right, but buttom line... the musical onstage was outstanding.

Chicago the Musical - Non Stop Entertainment

by smoakey on 9/9/09Fox Theatre Atlanta - Atlanta

The costumes, the dancers, their movements, the voices - Chicago provides full on high energy entertainment from the moment the house lights dim. The simple set really allowed the actors to shine. Even Jerry Springer wasn't as bad as I expected, (note: I didn't say he was good.) A good investment for your entertainment dollar. A must see.

    Chicago: Unbelievable

by SusieQHow on 9/9/09Fox Theatre Atlanta - Atlanta

This was, hands down, the best ever play I've seen at the Fox. The music was perfect, the actors and dancers were just amazing. It was mesmerizing. The moment we left my daughter stated, " I could go right back in and sit through that again." Not too shabby for a 24 year old and I completely agreed with her opinion. I could go back again tonight if it were possible. Don't hesitate to spend your hard-earned money for this one. You will never regret it.

    Unbelievably great

by FoxyRoxie on 8/5/09Colonial Theatre - Boston

I don't understand the few bad reviews it got. The show was enjoyed by me and my friends who all liked different aspects. But everyone enjoyed The Number "Mister Cellophane" Mind You that we were 16 years old The vaudeville theme was very clear and enjoyable. The cast was amazing Bianca Marroquin was Roxie & Terra C MacLeod was Velma they did an unbelievable job.I've never had so much fun in the theatre than at Chicago. Anyone who doesn't enjoy Chicago doesn't like the theatre because this is one of the best shows And All That Jazz!

A professional, entertaining, and worthwhile time.

A very professional and entertaining evening. The value we received was worth every cent. We are lucky to have such a professional production stop in Ottawa for a few days.

    Chicago

by michb on 7/22/09National Arts Centre - Ottawa

My guest and I really enjoyed the show. We could not understand why the Ottawa critics had been so harsh (maybe they caught them on an off presentation). The Saturday matinee presentation we saw was really great. As any presentation, one can not expect a live performance to belike the film. Thank goodness for that! Over the years, I have had the privilege to see shows on and off Broadway, in London (UK), Toronto, Ottawa and other locations. This cast held its own! I rate this 4 stars... I am a perfectionist! Sorry, nothing to date has rated 5 stars!

    Chicago lacked pizazz

by Renlady on 7/17/09National Arts Centre - Ottawa

The dancing and singing was amazing. We felt it lacked costume and set design. How can you die in one scene and be back in the next scene as someone else? I have imagination but.....

    Chicago missing some razzle-dazzle

by Anemone on 7/16/09National Arts Centre - Ottawa

Chicago is a great show. This production demonstrated that by managing to bring the audience to its feet without ever really getting close to the spectacular show it could have been. So much has been minimized: filling the stage with the orchestra reduces the playing area to a shallow strip at the front, there are no sets and very few props, and some of the choreography was decidedly underwhelming. Still, the script and score manage to shine through, and overall it was an entertaining evening - especially for those who were unfamiliar with the show and thus had no idea how much better it could have been.

    Chicago the Musical

by Wasteofcash on 7/16/09National Arts Centre - Ottawa

Saw Chicago the Musical in Toronto and loved it!! I saw a very different show in Ottawa and was disappointed. I was expecting the same version I had seen in Toronto and instead caught a more boring display. I found the singing was fantastic however the set and costumes were NOT!! Would it have hurt to have a little splash of glitter and colour on stage? Almost everyone wore black and it was just dull and because of that I found myself anxious for it to come to an end. I bought a ticket for my daughter and a good friend and both found it boring as well. One other reason we were not impressed and this has nothing to do with the actors, singers or the production itself, the website indicated the show started at 8 PM, I printed the information and brought it with me. When we got to the theatre at 7:15 we were told all evening performances start at 8 PM except Sunday evening which starts at 7:30. We were glad we had arrived at 7:15 and not after the show started however many did arrive after 7:30 up to and including 8:00 PM. This made it very disturbing when someone had to get to their seats in front of you. Please correct this time difference on the website.

    Chicago--The Musical

by ChevyC on 7/16/09Ziff Ballet Opera House The Arsht Center - Miami

When I think of Chicago the Musical, "WOW!" is the first word that comes to mind. The actors were wonderful and wooed me into the 1950s. WOW!!!!!!!! My fiancé and I always call to mind "Mr. Cellophane." Indeed, he is one of our favorites!!! GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Sassy, sexy and sweet!

by Gnat444 on 7/16/09National Arts Centre - Ottawa

My Mom and I attended Chicago in June in Ottawa and were pleasantly surprised. We loved how the orchestra was actually worked into the entire performance. The leads were so gifted and it was truly worth the money. There is nothing like live theatre, and Chicago delivered an entertaining, sexy and sultry performance with some giggles mixed in. I would recommend this show to anyone!

    Chicago was Fab!

by Vagabond on 7/16/09National Arts Centre - Ottawa

This was one of my favourite musicals of all time - amazing singers and dancers, and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I brought my sister as a treat for her birthday, and we had great seats in a loge which made it even better.

    WOW!

by Robertino on 7/16/09National Arts Centre - Ottawa

Wonderfully performed, including the excellent music! Excellent casting (acknowledging that no one could come close to the original production with Gwen Verdon and Chita Rivera!). It sure heated up Winter in Ottawa!!! WOW!
