After 25 years, CHICAGO is still the one musical with everything that makes Broadway shimmy-shake: a universal tale of fame, fortune, and all that jazz, with one show stopping song after another and the most astonishing dancing you've ever seen. No wonder CHICAGO has been honored with 6 Tony Awards®, 2 Olivier Awards, a Grammy®, and thousands of standing ovations. As we celebrate our 25th anniversary --you've got to come see why the name on everyone's lips is still...CHICAGO.
The final two songs that were duets were pretty underwhelming.
Mom and I enjoyed the matinee performance. Combined with a restaurant brunch and dinner reservation I created a full fun day celebrating my Mom!
Not well casted. Billy and Amos left something to be desired. Did they see the REAL play?
I enjoyed the play, but it did not meet my expectations in terms of choreography and some of the vocals.
Always a fun experience to watch the two girls fight for survival amid super dancing and songs. Velma is someone to see and hear.
I loved every minute of Chicago. It was laugh out loud funny. Every minute had me on edge. Eddie George was awesome. I really loved all the characters. A must see show.
Chicago musical was wonderful. The Chicago Orchestra did a wonderful job! The cast was amazing & would recommend it to everyone and anyone! Go see it!
Compared to the movie, I preferred the movie. The play didn’t change the set. Of course, that would have been difficult. Foxy and Velma were so talented! Their dancing and singing was terrific! So talented! The movie was easier to follow. Hint; avoid seats in row A left loge. View obstructed and seats sunk in. This was at the Cadillac Palace in Broadway in Chicago.
It did not seem well thought out, having the orchestra on the stage took a lot away from the actual play. There was so much showmanship that could have been accomplished but was not. The production gave me the feeling I was watching a small type of production off Broadway. The vocals of Mama Morton and Velma were phenomenal.
Amazing energy on stage and so much talent. Entertaining from beginning till end.
No set designs or scene changes. Singing and dancing subpar. No choreography really.
Awesome! Great seats. The players are sooooooo talented. Eddie George was a surprise talent.
Great musical but disappointed in touring company. Voices just ok...not stellar. Dancing ok...not fabulous. No set design at all (understand only a week) but could have had something.
About 20 into the show I was ready to leave and falling asleep. A co-worker of mine raved about it and so I went out to see it. Apparently this was not the same set she saw. I was disappointed, it felt like a high school production. The band was on the stage and taking up half the space, backup dancers sat in chairs on the side if the stage doing nothing but to tapping at times, costumes never changed, dances didn't make any use of the stage space nor were they jazzy or exciting, and singing was okay. The cell block tango only used chairs, no jail cells like you expect. I love musicals and I had a hard time not comparing it to the movie since that would be unfair, but I would think that if it's the longest running musical then this touring one should be comparable to the one on Broadway.
Well this was my 25th time seeing Chicago the musical and this fabulous cast was one of the best. Every time the tour comes to the Midwest i go see it. And i will definitely go back for more razzle dazzle when Chicago comes around again 😀
Saw the Wednesday matinee, 4th row. Splurged on the suite experience, which was really enjoyable. The show was really good, but we all thought there were some sound issues, sometimes it was difficult to hear dialogue. Velma was outstanding. Amos's solo my favorite song. Eddie George was very good!!!
Opening night and the crowd was a bit sparse, but they had s lot of energy... And it was increased by the great performance of the cast. True to the original book, Velma & Roxie we're shown as past their prime and trying a last gasp to achieve glory. Finale lacked the excitement that I've seen in past performances, but beyond that, Zi could not have been more pleased
Chicago was a wonderful show, I only wish the sound system had been better. The voices sounded somewhat muffled to me. I was also disappointed with Velma’s dancing abilities, she seemed rather stiff. But the other dancers were incredible.
The acting and singing was outstanding. I lighting and music definitely gave an old city of Chicago vibe.
I loved it! It was everything I expected and more. My family and I had a fantastic time dancing and singing in our seats. We are still singing songs from it at home. The theater was beautiful!
