Chicago Fire FC History

The Chicago Fire became one of Major League Soccer’s first expansion teams when it joined ahead of the 1998 season. The Fire pulled off one of the most impressive inaugural seasons across American professional sports when the new squad, coached under Bob Bradley, secured an 11-game winning streak and made a surprise playoff run that culminated in an MLS Cup Final win against the two-time defending champions, D.C. United (where Bradley previously worked as an assistant). One week later, Chicago completed the double-header with their first U.S. Open Cup championship.

The Fire found further success in the early aughts with Bradley and his successor Dave Sarachan, who helped the team secure three more U.S. Open Cup victories in 2000, 2003 and 2006. In addition, the Fire earned the Supporters’ Shield in 2003. All-Star forward Mike Magee became the first player to win the MLS MVP Award while representing Chicago in 2013.

Chicago Fire FC at Soldier Field

The Fire play their home games at Soldier Field, also home to the NFL's Chicago Bears. Opened in 1924, the stadium is the oldest active venue in American football. If you're in attendance, be sure to keep an eye out for the rowdy Section 8 Chicago supporters. With their tifos and chanting, they'll be hard to miss.

Galaxy vs Fire game was great, parking is TERRIBLE

by Ibrafan on 4/19/18TOYOTA PARK - Bridgeview

Game was Great! Stadium is nice but lines for food and bathrooms are extremely long at times. Parking is absolutely horrendous. Its slow getting in and 100 times worse getting out. We left the game in the 75th minute and it took us 1 hour to get out of the lot. Absolute nightmare, not sure if I would go again based on the parking experience.

    Zlatan!!

by ChaosIsBack on 4/17/18TOYOTA PARK - Bridgeview

Purchased a ticket when I was drunk, and three days before Zlatan Ibrahimovic signed with the Galaxy. The weather was cold, and the game was decent. Zlatan scored and the Chicago Fire looked horrible.

    Great game, KC Win

by SXXX on 3/15/18TOYOTA PARK - Bridgeview

We were from KC first visit to Chicago (not just flying through or outside of the city). Had a great time at P!nk and the Chicago Fire vs Sporting KC game. Would recommend. Just wish it was warmer that day. But it was a KC win!

    Decent Overall Experience

by CentralIllinoisSoccerFan on 3/13/18TOYOTA PARK - Bridgeview

Went to first ever MLS game on home opener for Chicago Fire. The atmosphere was fun. The venue was decent, but was a little challenge getting into. Way too many intoxicated, I mean alcohol poisoning drunk, fans screaming obscenities. Totally inappropriate for young fans.

The team is far better than in recent years, but has some distance to go.

    Good facility with good crowd

by headcaseracer on 10/19/17TOYOTA PARK - Bridgeview

We had a good time at Toyota Park to watch the Fire play soccer. Parking was a bit of an issue. I think there should have been a little better directions for where to park according to where you need to enter, but other than that, it was a great experience. I recommend it to anyone.

    Nice experience

by matXIV on 10/4/17TOYOTA PARK - Bridgeview

As European and "soccer" lover, I was curious to experience an MLS game. The stadium wasnt big but clean and from every seat there were a great view. The atmosphere was great with stadium packed, chants, drums, trumpts... quality of the game very average, but still good time and fun.

    Good game

by HaflaGirl on 10/4/17TOYOTA PARK - Bridgeview

Excellent defense and pressing from both teams. My team, NYCFC, won. Toyota Park is easy to access (meaning good location, if you drive); clean; concessions are pricey but tasty; good quality pitch; and they seemed to cut back on the on-pitch fireworks which was appreciated as I hate it when the smoke interferes with play and with fans' view of the game.

by FutbolEnthusiast on 9/12/17TOYOTA PARK - Bridgeview

I attended my first Chicago Fire Game at Toyota Park, and I had a blast! The stadium is beautiful, the crowd was lively and the players were kind and appreciative of the fans after the game.

    Soccer Game

by GKRULE on 8/29/17TOYOTA PARK - Bridgeview

Toyota park was very clean, easy to find seats, and friendly staff. The only negative would be the parking. They have staff to direct you when you get there but not when the game is over. If they collect $20 for parking they should have the money from all the cars they park to pave the gravel parking lot.

    Everything was great, except parking

    by Troutmask23 on 8/22/17TOYOTA PARK - Bridgeview

The facility, the people, the team, the weather, the food service, even the rest rooms were great, but getting into and out of the parking sucks. It is so bad, I may never go back. How do they sell season tickets?

    Revolution Torched!

    by gabigol14 on 8/14/17TOYOTA PARK - Bridgeview

My wife and I attended this soccer match and had an amazing time. We took the supporters bus, from Fado's Irish Pub to and from the game, which added to the feel of the home supporters. We arrived early and walked around and participated in the fan fest. Although small, we did notice and appreciate the event was catered to children and providing free samples to fans. The game itself was amazing. Our seats were just behind the goal near the Sector Latino (opposite the Harlem End) and we were up close to the action, especially with the Fire's two first half goals. The fans and crowd chanted the whole game and made for a wonderful experience. We would definitely recommend going to a Fire match.

Took my 17-year old goalkeeper grandson to this game (we are East Coasters) and he enjoyed the game and seats immensely. Concessions were disappointing, however.
