    You serious Clark?

by T.P. on 12/23/19Akron Civic Theatre - Akron

It was a great evening ! Chevy was funny, honest and sincere with his responses to questions. He is a comic genius! We had an enjoyable evening with family and friends.

    Horrible

by Jessica on 12/23/19Akron Civic Theatre - Akron

Not sure if Chevy was drunk or what but this was the biggest waste of money. He couldnt answer questions and was slurring. At one point he left the stage to “take a pee” and was gone for 20 mins. People were leaving in a steady stream ten minutes into the q&a. Absolutely horrid. I wish I would have stayed home.

    Just a fun time

by Greg on 12/23/19Akron Civic Theatre - Akron

The movie of course is great. Watching it with 2500 people who share the same love of the movie is quite the experience. Chevy is Chevy. He may be 30 years older, but still remembers a lot of details from filming. Worth it!

Poor accommodations + poor moderator = Terrible Experience

by BuckeyeFan on 12/23/19Akron Civic Theatre - Akron

We arrived a little late because of having to walk an extra block to go around and back to the theater (not the theaters fault but not the best place to have it during construction). After getting to our seats we notices a small screen with terrible blueish color for the movie. After 1/4 of the way thru they finally stopped the showing and put up the big screen with proper color. The seats were extremely tight and by the end I'm pretty sure everybody thought they were in a sauna. When Chevy came out the lighting was so bad that you couldn't even see his face. The camera guy wasn't even ready to show him on the big screen until 1/4 of the way thru the interview. He had a hat on and the lighting was high so his face was shaded the entire time. The camera was shaking the whole time and it was clearly evident that the moderator was way out of her element and had never seen his movies. They read submitted questions to which they clearly hadn't reviewed prior. Chevy had to take a 10 minute pee break in the middle of the Q&A but when you got to go you got to go I guess. We had much higher expectations having spent way more than what it was worth. This was a Christmas present to our parents and frankly we were embarrassed at what they had to witness/experience.

This was an evening to remember, and not fondly

by Carol on 12/23/19Akron Civic Theatre - Akron

The Civic Theater is a beautiful old theater which is now burdened with the construction on Main St. It was muddy and rocky getting in and a wood walkway led us to the door. BUT that really wasn’t the problem. The movie itself had to be restarted part way through - I thought that ended with the demise of movies on reels. And then the interview! The young woman who interviewed apparently didn’t know Chevy Chase and when he announced he had to pee and left the stage, we should have left too.

    An Unfortunate Waste of Time

by TripleThreat42 on 12/23/19Akron Civic Theatre - Akron

We were excited to attend this event, as Christmas Vacation is our favorite Christmas movie ever. Unfortunately, the event didn’t live up to our expectations. The venue was really good, but the preparation and execution was lacking. First, the movie began playing with a green hue. Yes, the entire screen was green color. The staff either did not notice it or did not know how to fix it until the movie was half way over. But from there, it only got worse. The moderator who was selected to do the Q&A with Chevy was horrendous. She was completely unprepared, had a total lack of focus and professionalism, and she made the experience almost unwatchable. From her giggling, to the lack of clarity in asking questions, she was the wrong selection. Then, Chevy himself was also a disappointment. We understand he isn’t a young actor anymore, but what we paid to see left us asking why we even went. He couldn’t hear the questions, he rarely answered the questions being asked, he couldn’t remember the question, was borderline inconsiderate, threw other actors under the bus, and at one point left the stage for 10 minutes to apparently use the bathroom, only to come back and have an asthma attack on stage. We had no idea if it was all an act or if what we were seeing was truly happening. Overall, not a great experience at all.

    So-so

by D on 12/23/19Akron Civic Theatre - Akron

The venue and crowd were amazing. It was cool to see Chevy Chase but we were disappointed with his overall demeanor. Although it was interesting to hear some of his stories, he unfortunately insulted other celebrities and seemed somewhat apathetic.

    Grumpy Old Man

by T. on 12/23/19Akron Civic Theatre - Akron

Chevy Chase should just stay home. He was mean spirited and not happy to be there-just a grumpy old man.

    Chevy not Fun nor Funny

by T. on 12/23/19Akron Civic Theatre - Akron

The theater had technical difficulties that alone could be overlooked. But Chevy Chase shouldn’t be paid to be seen in public. He is a cranky goat who couldn’t/wouldn’t answer the simplest of questions. He appeared to be annoyed being there. Only one explanation for his taking part: cash. At least ACT like you were happy to have a full theater, Chevy! The movie, of course, was awesome. But I could see it 40 times a season on TV.

    Not Worth the Money

by MPB on 12/23/19Akron Civic Theatre - Akron

It was great to see Christmas Vacation on a big screen. Unfortunately, 5 minutes into the movie, the screen became very blue. After 25 minutes or so, someone came out and they pulled down a bigger screen with a new projector. It was perfect once they did this, but I wish they would've at least acknowledged that they we going to fix it. It was very dissapointing. Also, if they had a bigger screen, why didn't they use that from the start? I wish the moderator would've done a better job with Chevy. She should've adjusted her questioning to match his ability to answer the questions at his age. He had a lot of the trouble hearing/understanding be the questions. It was tough to watch at times. This show up as definitely not worth the money we paid.

    Sad

by Irene on 12/23/19Akron Civic Theatre - Akron

We love Chevy Chase but for the $400 our kids spent on this show...very disappointed! The movie was the best part and you could sit at home and watch that! We were supposed to be in meet and greet. The venue people didn't apparently know what was going on...we were supposed to have wristbands...then they sent us to a wall for them..unfortunately there were well over 100 people who got there before us. Ended up forgetting about it and leaving! The girl who sat and interviewed Chevy was a drag!! So boring! He is getting older...maybe hard of hearing...touch dementia? and left the stage to pee for a bit! Akron is going through a construction phase so no roads open to theatre....had trouble finding parking which is not easy in the city without work being done! All in all could watch him being interviewed at home in front of the tv and enjoyed it better...sorry Chevy!

    Better projection equipement

    by K. on 12/20/19Landmark Theatre - Syracuse

I booked 8 seats in anticipation of seeing our favorite family movie, only to be disappointed that the projector blacked out approx. 15 minutes of film. Thank goodness Chevy is worth the wait and a half -A movie reel.

Great Show, Fabulous Interview with Chevy, Landmark Sucks!

by GregC on 12/20/19Landmark Theatre - Syracuse

This should have been a 5 star review, the movie is our family Christmas favorite and the interview with Chevy was outstanding. He is smart, funny, thoughtful and interacted with the crowd. The only downside was the venue, seats that are made for people no taller than 4 feet tall and a totally inadequate vendor service. Chevy and the movie were five stars!

Chevy was great, the host was not.

by Linds on 12/20/19Landmark Theatre - Syracuse

Watching the screening with simultaneous laughter, quoting, and singing was magical. (All but the 3 minutes where the video cut out and all we could hear was audio... And then failing to actually go back to what was missed. Bad form, AV team...). The follow up Q&A was awkward, clunky, and ill-described. Chevy was absolutely great and interesting to listen to, but he wasn’t kept on task or offered any real opportunity for conversation - answered answer question and the host moved on with no follow up or transition. The host/interviewer was absolutely terrible and did not do a man with so many years success the respect he deserved. He didn’t seem like he even wanted to be there. And by the way... who even was he??? I hope other shows there was other hosts who made the evening more pleasant for both Chevy and the fans. I’d give this a 1 if I didn’t feel it would reflect worse on the star of the evening.

    So many issues

by Disappointed on 12/20/19Landmark Theatre - Syracuse

I paid 200 for a vip ticket, movie started out screeching high and we had to plug our ears for at least ten minutes and could not believe it took that long. In the middle of the movie it just stopped went to a blue screen and ask you heard was shuffling and fabric moving against a microphone so loud for a good 3 min then the screen went black. I thought there was about to be a terrorist attack. Then they don't let you use your phone for your photo with Chevy because they have a professional photographer, well my photo was the only photo that was blurry. The professional photographer only took one photo for that once in a lifetime moment. I'm very disappointed. I also had my car locked into a parking lot I paid for money to park in because the attendants never advised me that they lock it at 10pm. That wasn't part of this event but sure adedd to my misery when I had to walk around and find and pay for hotel room. It was a nightmare. I talked to the people who run it and they said they will try to make it right with a signed poster and tickets to a different show next month, we will see. Chevy is my childhood hero and I was going to use that photo on every Christmas card I sent for the rest of my life.

    Not impressed

by Bubba on 12/20/19Landmark Theatre - Syracuse

Night started by watching entire National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation then Chevy came out, which that in itself is awesome, gave some behind the scenes info but besides that just rambled about miscellaneous stuff. He was only given a couple of audience questions to answer. Chevy was onstage for approximately 65 minutes overall.

    Chevy Was Spectacular!

by Heather Wing on 12/20/19Landmark Theatre - Syracuse

I would have given it 5 stars for Chevy Chase. He was more entertaining in person than he is on the big screen. The only downfall was the glitche in the movie where the screen went black for several minutes.
