An Unfortunate Waste of Time
by TripleThreat42 on 12/23/19Akron Civic Theatre - AkronRating: 2 out of 5We were excited to attend this event, as Christmas Vacation is our favorite Christmas movie ever. Unfortunately, the event didn’t live up to our expectations. The venue was really good, but the preparation and execution was lacking. First, the movie began playing with a green hue. Yes, the entire screen was green color. The staff either did not notice it or did not know how to fix it until the movie was half way over. But from there, it only got worse. The moderator who was selected to do the Q&A with Chevy was horrendous. She was completely unprepared, had a total lack of focus and professionalism, and she made the experience almost unwatchable. From her giggling, to the lack of clarity in asking questions, she was the wrong selection. Then, Chevy himself was also a disappointment. We understand he isn’t a young actor anymore, but what we paid to see left us asking why we even went. He couldn’t hear the questions, he rarely answered the questions being asked, he couldn’t remember the question, was borderline inconsiderate, threw other actors under the bus, and at one point left the stage for 10 minutes to apparently use the bathroom, only to come back and have an asthma attack on stage. We had no idea if it was all an act or if what we were seeing was truly happening. Overall, not a great experience at all.
