  • Great Movie, Sad “Conversation”

by A Disappointed Viewer on 12/20/21Lynn Auditorium - LynnRating: 2 out of 5

Christmas Vacation is the only reason this review is getting 2 stars. After the movie, the moderator came out, introduced Chevy’s wife, then Chevy. Expecting a grand entrance, Chevy came out in a wheelchair. Knowing a little about comedy (any fan of Christmas Vacation does), our group thought it was an act - couldn’t be further from the truth. The commentary and answering of the questions was extraordinarily sad to see. Chevy was stumbling over his words, slurring, not remembering the questions asked. His wife answered more questions than he did. To say we were all disappointed is an understatement. I feel as though we were actively watching an icon’s light going out in front of us. Even though the movie will live forever as a Christmas Classic, this show needs to not happen again, not just for the lack of quality of the show, but for the dignity of a comedic icon.

  • Super fun

by SB on 12/19/21The Palace Theatre Albany - AlbanyRating: 5 out of 5

Imagine your favorite holdiay movie with hundreds of others who share your enthusiasm for the movie. Saying the lines outloud laughing and singing along. Then to see Chevy Chase in real life. Really was a dream come true!!

  • Underwhelmed

by Big Speciale on 12/19/21The Palace Theatre Albany - AlbanyRating: 3 out of 5

Chevy fan who LOVES this movie - but unable to hear Chevy at all (muffled, bad sound system). And most discussion led by his wife. Sad to see, but prob should not be touring at this point.

  • It was "o.k."

by NYEMT89 on 12/18/21The Palace Theatre Albany - AlbanyRating: 3 out of 5

It was the first time I've been to the Palace theater. It's pretty but needs a seating upgrade. The seats are way too narrow as everyone was basically sitting on top of each other . (I'm small...5' and 120# so, it wasn’t my stature.) Also, people were tripping up the steps so lighting on steps or aisle seats should be installed. The ladies bathroom had several stalls but only one working sink that we had to line up to wash our hands. The movie started a little late and we couldn't hear Chevy very well when they were doing the Q & A. Even after, he was given a microphone when someone in the audience actually had to yell out that they couldn't hear either. It was disappointing and people were leaving early. We ended up leaving during it too.

  • Elder abuse?

by Jim J on 12/18/21The Palace Theatre Albany - AlbanyRating: 2 out of 5

I thought about walking out but then Chevy would start telling an anecdote that sounded interesting. By the end of it he had either forgotten what he was talking about and had to be reminded by his wife or just burst out in inappropriate laughter and in the end I think I would rather have not gone to this.

  • An evening with chevy chase

by FJB on 12/18/21The Palace Theatre Albany - AlbanyRating: 2 out of 5

Only word that I have for this is Disappointing. He was hard to understand and couldn't remember anything it seemed

  • Fun but…

by SL on 12/18/21The Palace Theatre Albany - AlbanyRating: 4 out of 5

Enjoyed the event but I thought it was silly that we couldn’t remove our masks for the 2-second photo shoot during the Meet & Greet. Chevy was easily 6-8 feet away from each person and there’s no reason we all had to have our faces covered for the 2 second picture shoot. But overall, was an enjoyable evening.

  • Fun night

by Lorrie on 12/16/21The Stanley - UticaRating: 4 out of 5

Watching the movie with people who love the movie as much as you, is a blast!! Chevy still has a great sense of humor. It was alittle shocking to see him come out in a wheelchair. You kinda forget how old he is and im sure all those stunts and falls take their toll! Awesome night!

  • Great

by Toni on 12/16/21The Stanley - UticaRating: 4 out of 5

This was a great experience my husband and I enjoyed very much. How much better can it get than to watch a the classic Christmas Vacation movie with the man himself! He told great stories after, I could have listened for hours. I wish we could have taken our masks off for the picture, but still happy to get it!

  • Sad performance

by Virge on 12/16/21The Stanley - UticaRating: 1 out of 5

We were looking forward to a laughable night out with Chevy Chase, and instead watched what was a sad performance. He seemed super forgetful, so much so, his wife answered most of questions or would need to prod him along the way. Many around us left the event before it finished. Disappointed!

  • Worst show ever! Chevy Chase was out of it!

by CC on 12/16/21The Stanley - UticaRating: 1 out of 5

The live portion of the show was a joke. The moderator did his best to keep the interview going, but what a challenge to keep Chevy Chase on target... He was absolutely out of it! His lovely wife was on stage with him ( now for obvious reasons) to help him through it! Painful to watch.. had to leave early. Such a waste of money and time!

  • Don't waste the money

by Amanda on 12/16/21The Stanley - UticaRating: 1 out of 5

Not what I expected. The movie was great with the interaction with the audience. But when they wheeled Chevy out on a wheelchair and he just rambled with out making any sense at all. I felt robbed of a ton of money. To pay close to $200 to watch a man cough for half an hour... Not worth it

  • GReat movie ! Beautiful theater.

by Baker Lady on 12/16/21The Stanley - UticaRating: 4 out of 5

First time at The Stanley and couldn't have been more impressed with it's restoration. I gave this a 4 start instead of 5 star rating because no announcement was made regarding mask wearing even though Gouvernor Hochul had implemented a mandatory indoor mask mandate. I was very uncomfortable with the number of people not wearing a mask including the people sitting next to me. Chevy Chase and his wife were great.

  • Very overpriced movie tickets

by NYSREGirl on 12/16/21The Stanley - UticaRating: 2 out of 5

The theater was decent but seating was not comfortable (think Mom's extra chairs she brings out for holidays). We paid for front row seats and what i thought was akin to backstage passes to hang out with Chevy Chase...not so much. A limited # of meet and greet actually meant at least 100 from what I could see, and a long line and no selfies with Chevy Chase. Not to mention poor Chevy himself who did not seem in good health at all. I felt terrible for him. Would never go to a show like this again.

  • ok

by shel on 12/16/21The Stanley - UticaRating: 3 out of 5

Very disappointed on how there is no info on site or in person on how or what a VIP consists of.

  • it was fun and nostalgic experience

by Denette on 12/16/21The Stanley - UticaRating: 4 out of 5

I loved it, hard with sitting so close to people during this pandemic. So many people not wearing masks or not wearing them properly. I am not a fan of the mask, but in such close settings...I kinda regretted doing this event... Chevy should have done a autograph signing instead of the couch conversation... he struggled to make sense :( and his beautiful wife had to finish his thoughts a few times. No disrespect, he is getting old, and I just loved that I can say that I got to hear him in person telling some of his stories.

  • So sad

by Sadfan on 12/16/21The Stanley - UticaRating: 2 out of 5

Great movie, but the "evening with Chevy" part was awful. One of the most awkward things I have ever witnessed. Was unable to answer any question or finish a sentence. His wife seemed lovely but he just isn't in very good shape cognitively.

  • Money grab

by Unsatisfactory on 12/16/21The Stanley - UticaRating: 1 out of 5

It was an awful experience overall. Chevy was not interested in what he was doing. Seemed unable to answer the simplest questions, even for someone who is 78. The ticketing experience was equally a disaster. If you buy tickets through Ticketmaster, DO NOT EXPECT ANY HELP after the sale. You cannot speak to a human being -EVER!

  • Don’t waste your money

by Terrible on 12/16/21The Stanley - UticaRating: 1 out of 5

Obviously the movie was good. But as soon as Chevy came out he didn’t seem able to make a coherent thought. Often times the moderator would ask him a question and he would ramble and forget the question that was being asked

  • Good movie but Chevy not doing so good

by TAS force on 12/16/21The Stanley - UticaRating: 3 out of 5

I really enjoyed watching Christmas Vacation on the big screen. I was really disappointed with Chevy Chase however. He had a moderator who was trying to pull stories out of him and his wife to finish the stories. It was clear that Chevy's cognitive abilities are not at their peak. It leaves you wondering if they are desperate for money. Chevy needs to end his days of non scripted public appearances.
