About

Chelsea Wolfe's latest album, She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She, is a rebirth in process. It's about how such a moment connects to our past, our present, and our future. It's a powerfully cathartic statement about cutting ties, as well as an important reminder that healing is cyclical and circular, and not a simple linear process. As Wolfe explains, 'It's a record about the past self reaching out to the present self reaching out to the future self to summon change, growth, and guidance. It's a story of setting yourself free from situations and patterns that are holding you back, in order to become self-empowered. It's an invitation to step into your authenticity."

    Chelsea wolfe not done justice

by Sadiemarieborges on 11/19/13Royce Hall - UCLA - Los Angeles

Chelsea Wolfe and Anna Calvi are my two of my favorite musicians. I was beyond ecstatic to see this show and had high expectations having browsed endless live footage from both of these very talented women. Anna Calvi's set was lovely, but it was difficult to hear her vocals. The sound overall could have been better for her. By the time Chelsea was mid-set, the drums were completely drowning out her vocals and guitar playing, and the bass was deafening. The viola/violin could not be heard. A lot of details were lost. I can only think to blame the sound guy, who must have fallen asleep, because this is not how they are supposed to sound live and it was heartbreaking as an enthused listener and fan not to get to hear these songs as they are intended to be experienced. I hope if there is a next time that the instruments/vocals are evened out better. I don't know how these things went overlooked. Much love for the performers.

Chelsea Wolfe was mesmerizing as always. Must see band on a must see tour. New material is perfection.

    Fantastic show.

by Daniiiellle on 9/18/13The Sinclair - Cambridge

Incredible show. Sometimes, the first act isn't quite as good as the main event- not so with True Widow as the opener. They're an incredibly talented bunch and they play LOUD. ;) Chelsea Wolfe is stunning and her voice is just as great live as it is on the album- which, while very dramatic coming from your speakers/earbuds, doesn't quite capture the drama and power of hearing the band play live. Their drummer kicks ass, the guitarist did some sweet guitar stuff (yeah, I'm not a musician), and their keyboard player/bassist juggles the two instruments adeptly. Overall an awesome experience.

    Chelsea Wolfe-Best YET!

by AliceMiaLola on 9/16/13Bowery Ballroom - New York

I loved her performance, it was beautiful; and entrancing, as always. I DID NOT however love some of the weird hippies in the crowd, specifically one couple that kept swaying back and forth and left and right with their book bag and metal water bottle kept knocking into me. RUDE and INCONSIDERATE! Once they left everything was great! :D The opening band was very bland and boring, wanna be weird Nirvana grunge try-hards, don't think they should have opened for Chelsea Wolfe, but not my call.

    Veteran performance despite tech problems

by Arrested on 9/16/13Bowery Ballroom - New York

Missing plectrums, knocking over vocal effects boards, Macs not fully plugged into the sound system, bass pedals cutting out, overly harsh lighting despite repeated band requests to turn down - despite technical challenges, Chelsea Wolfe and her band looked like road veterans at the Bowery, expertly performing numbers from the new album, and making old numbers sound like they could play them in their sleep without sacrificing any of the intensity. I first saw Chelsea Wolfe at 285 Kent. It's great to see her headlining the Bowery Ballroom now. I've never seen the Bowery so full.

Chelsea Wolfe at Bowery Ballroom, 9/13/13

by jimmysamsara on 9/16/13Bowery Ballroom - New York

Everything I had hoped it would be. Chelsea has a great stage presence that lives up to her performance on her albums. I'm always impressed by bands that sound as good, if not better as a live act. Chelsea definitely falls in this category. Not going to comment on True Widow, because I only caught their last 3 songs.

    Chelsea is lovely

Show was gorgeous through and through. I just hope the venue didn't spray the pepper spray to clear everyone out quickly!

A performance that sent chills down your spine and made everyone in the room fall in love with her if they weren't already. What a talented and beautiful woman.

    Chelsea was amazing

by Tonup on 1/28/13Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

Another enchanting performance from Chelsea. Visually and musically captivating, she takes her listeners to another realm. This was my second time seeing her. She is famously shy on stage, but seemed much more at ease with the audience this time.

She was incredible and I want to see her any time she's in the city. Or around the city. Or in a city that I happen to also be in. Love.

    All the way from CA

by Narona on 1/28/13Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

It was my first time at Music Hall of Williamsburg and I loved it. I came to hear and support my homegirl Chealse Wolfe whom I've known since she started played at art galleries in Sacramento. The cool thing is, I knew she was gonna be famous/successful back then, +\- 10 yrs ago. Such a talent. Fab venue was raptured and hypnotized by her sirene's voice.
