CHEAP TRICK IN CONCERT:
More than four decades after their debut, hard rock titans Cheap Trick continue to possess the same energy and flair that made them an arena rock staple in the '70s. The band has enjoyed an unbroken run ever since their formation in 1973, and it's easy to see why — their chemistry on stage is undeniable, and they clearly have a blast as they treat fans to nostalgic performances of classics like "Surrender" and "The Flame." Back on the road in 2014 with fellow hard rockers Boston, Cheap Trick will bring their signature high-energy show to fans around the country on a string of highly anticipated dates.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Formed in Illinois in 1973, Cheap Trick recorded demos and toured throughout the Midwest before releasing their self-titled 1977 debut. The album failed to find an audience in the US, but it earned them a fan base in Europe and Japan, setting the stage for their future popularity stateside. While sophomore album In Color contained their highly regarded single "I Want You To Want Me," the band didn't make it onto the US charts until "Surrender" was released as the lead single of 1978's Heaven Tonight. By the early '80s the band was selling out arenas around the globe, achieving their most significant popularity in Japan, where enthusiasm over their tours reached Beatlemania-esque proportions. With more than four decades of hard-rocking live shows under their belts, Cheap Trick will bring plenty of veteran know-how with them on their upcoming tour.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"After 40 years of constant touring and albums, Cheap Trick still rocks! They put on an amazing show with lots of energy. They interacted with the audience and seem so accessible to the crowd."
"Real blast from the past. They haven't slowed down a bit and rocked the house."
"As always, Cheap Trick put on an awesome show. Robin Zander is the best lead singer on the planet & the playlist was great."

I was slightly disappointed that Bun E. Carlos was not drumming for them, but this band still puts on a fantastic show. The play list featured some songs I had not heard in quite a while. I've been going to Cheap Trick concerts since '78, and the band still puts 100% of their energy into the show.
I have seen Cheap Trick so many times over the years and they are always amazing, but Billy Bob's is no place for a rock show. First complaint - My seat was behind a pole. Second complaint - the security staff made people sit down. Come on this is a ROCK concert not a country show were you clap politely between songs. I paid a premium price to get a seat on the floor, but I will never waste the extra money or go back to Billy Bob's to see a concert. Might as well do GA - at least you could stand up and not get yelled at or thrown out. Not recommended because of venue not the band. I always see Cheap Trick when I can. From SEATS entry - I would really give it ZERO stars but that is not an option. Any seat in Billy Bob's sucks because of the sit down or get yelled at and thrown out policy.;
The opening act of Starship was unforgettable! Cheap Trick ROCKED the arena just as much today as when they did back then.... Flipping Unbelievable....
Cheap Trick put on an awesome show as usual. They played songs like House Is Rockin and He's A Whore that were a complete surprise to me, along with the standard classics. It is such a shame that a great, iconic band such as this had to play in front of such a lame audience and place. Billy Bob's is for easy listening and easy country- not the type of visceral, get-up-and-dance show that CT puts on.
This was an enjoyable show from a musical perspective but I think it must be a little disheartening for a band not to have its audience go a little crazy. If you get reserved seating at Billy Bob's, they rove up and down the aisles making you sit down. it's just not an ideal venue for hearing this kind of stand up and get crazy music. It just seemed a little weird...
I've been a fan for 30+ years and I can honestly say that Cheap Trick rocks as hard now as they ever have!!! Daxx did a more than ample job filling in for the great Bun E. Carlos. Well worth every dollar I spent, as is the new cd (The Latest)!! Can't wait to see them again!!
Rick Nielsen has retained his oddball antics on stage, but the band still rocks. Vocals hit the high notes and with energy, and the venue (casino amphitheater) was perfect for an intimate setting with a great band.
They were great, sounded just like their albums. They were fun when I used to see them as a bar band back in Illinois and Wisconsin back in the 70's and they still are.
Great venue for a concert. The band sounds as good as ever. Very enjoyable. The Elvis & Beatles tunes sounded great.
Cheap Trick came out on fire and proceeded to put on one of the greatest rock n roll concerts I have ever seen and I have seen hundreds! Better than The Who, better than the Stones and better than any show I have seen in the last decade. I am a huge Cheap Trick fan, and Friday night they proved why they are and forever shall be Rock and Roll. Nobody in this stage of their career can still bring it like Cheap Trick. Let me rephrase that, I don't think any band touring today can top what they did Friday night. Plain and straight up they rocked the place to the ground. Long live rock and long live CHEAP TRICK!
Pros: Cheap Trick sounded and looked great. They played a nice mix of old songs, new songs, and a couple of covers. It was a fun atmosphere that included everyone singing happy birthday to John Lennon and then the band playing Day Tripper. Tom really killed on the bass. Cons: My tickets were about $100, which got me great seats, but the band played less than an hour and a half. I don't expect hours of play, but BB King is over 80 played an hour longer. The other problem is the Winery. They really are not great at putting on concerts. The people are not well trained, and the place really over charges. Glasses of wine for about $20. Just pathetic.
Cheap Trick put on a great show at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga on Oct. 8, 2010. Rick, Robin & Tom were having fun, and Daxx Nielsen did an awesome job on the drums. (Sorry, Mr. Keyboard player, I don't remember your name.)
Great Concert! Great seats! These guys rock! They sounded great and looked great! Robin sang all the songs right on! Loved The Dream Police! They brought the house down! Too Bad to Mountain Winery charges $18.00 for a glass of wine! But otherwise great.
Mountain Winery was a perfect venue and dinner and wine before the show was the best way to start a lovely evening. We sat on the verandah drinking wine and relaxing watching the sun set over the valley before heading down to our seats. We were really looking forward to seeing Cheap Trick again -we saw them as the opening band for Def Leppard a couple of years ago and they were fabulous, however it was not to be the case tonight! They only played a handful of their older hits and a lot of their newer stuff, looking around the crowd I think most people were there for their older songs. They came on at 8.30pm and were over and done by 10pm. Previous concerts we have attended stayed on stage until the last moment - 10.30pm. We were so disapointed.
The show was amazing as usual! The venue was great with beautiful views of the vineyards and valley. Cheap Trick always delivers. They played a great set of older as well as newer songs and rocked them all!
bCheap trick was really a bad band. Noicy and loud . Could not hear what they sung . It was bad over all.
Brought my 16 year old to the show at Mountain Winery and we both had a blast! Thank you Cheap Trick for a really fun evening.
I went to the concert thinking I knew about 3 of thier songs. Well - I was wrong. Old school band blew us away. On our feet the whole time. Even got me doin some hair whippin!! Awesome show, guys!
Cheap Trick real rock icons.Saw them at the Mtn Winery Friday Oct 8th. The venue is awesome not a bad seat in the house.Robin Zanders voice is still spectacaular after 36 years.Rick Neilson is as spastic as he ever was and can still play with the best of the axeman. The crowd was multigenerational and on their feet the whole set.We had a rockin'gret time with Cheap Trick." "Gonna Raise He''" for the Encore was righteous! The Bass man just plain beat the hell out of his bass,The drum solo was awesome too.
