About

CHEAP TRICK IN CONCERT:

More than four decades after their debut, hard rock titans Cheap Trick continue to possess the same energy and flair that made them an arena rock staple in the '70s. The band has enjoyed an unbroken run ever since their formation in 1973, and it's easy to see why — their chemistry on stage is undeniable, and they clearly have a blast as they treat fans to nostalgic performances of classics like "Surrender" and "The Flame." Back on the road in 2014 with fellow hard rockers Boston, Cheap Trick will bring their signature high-energy show to fans around the country on a string of highly anticipated dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Illinois in 1973, Cheap Trick recorded demos and toured throughout the Midwest before releasing their self-titled 1977 debut. The album failed to find an audience in the US, but it earned them a fan base in Europe and Japan, setting the stage for their future popularity stateside. While sophomore album In Color contained their highly regarded single "I Want You To Want Me," the band didn't make it onto the US charts until "Surrender" was released as the lead single of 1978's Heaven Tonight. By the early '80s the band was selling out arenas around the globe, achieving their most significant popularity in Japan, where enthusiasm over their tours reached Beatlemania-esque proportions. With more than four decades of hard-rocking live shows under their belts, Cheap Trick will bring plenty of veteran know-how with them on their upcoming tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"After 40 years of constant touring and albums, Cheap Trick still rocks! They put on an amazing show with lots of energy. They interacted with the audience and seem so accessible to the crowd."

"Real blast from the past. They haven't slowed down a bit and rocked the house."

"As always, Cheap Trick put on an awesome show. Robin Zander is the best lead singer on the planet & the playlist was great."

  • They sounded great. Lots of energy and sang hits.

by RMWStyxFan on 12/7/09Ryman Auditorium - NashvilleRating: 4 out of 5

Cheap Trick performed great, Robin Zander's vocals were so strong. The band played well and the sound was set up well. What's fun is that their style is still so unique, so hard to pigeon-hole, that you just enjoy it and don't think about it.

  • great show!

by oldskoolrulz on 12/7/09Ryman Auditorium - NashvilleRating: 4 out of 5

nothing but good things to say about these guys, they are true rock legends in my opinion. the show was awesome, they did plenty of their hits and a few new songs that rocked also. biggest disappointment was the fact that they only played 1 hour and 15 minutes, come on guys i know you're getting old but add another 15 minutes into the show, you have the material for sure!

  • Cheap Trick was MAGNIFICENT!!!!!

by ChristinaPettersen on 12/7/09Ryman Auditorium - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Cheap Trick.....legends of rock and roll at the legendary Ryman Auditorium - need I say more? I am a life long fan of this band and I have to say this was hands-down the best performance I have ever seen. The band pulled out songs I had not seen them perform in twenty years. They dutifully represented their newest album, "The Latest," as well as songs from many of their other albums. I cannot stress how strong Robin Zander's voice still sounds after all these years. The band had an energy that was felt throughout the room. Rick, Bun and Tom were all AMAZING....not to mention the celebs in the house. Journey's keyboardist hopped on stage and played, Scott Hamilton served Rick guitars from sidestage....it was simply an amazing night. After all these years, I'd still love to have Rick's energy! This show packed a punch and proved that Cheap Trick should ALWAYS be headlining -- Fans should accept nothing less!!!

  • Cheap Trick -Exhilarating Entertainment

by pleasant on 12/6/09Ryman Auditorium - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Loved the stage setup and light shows. Felt that the whole band really enjoys entertaining. Enjoyed all the songs that were played. Loved the way the drums, guitars and keyboards all were in sync and the lead singers voice was magnificent. Wish the concert could have lasted longer. It wasn't even 11:00 yet!

  • Cheap Trick - Awesome Show

by DollyCat on 12/6/09Ryman Auditorium - NashvilleRating: 4 out of 5

Loved 'em when I saw them in the very early 80s. Can't remember the date but it was my very first concert, and I was around 15 at the time so 80 or 81 - don't remember if Petersson was there or not for that one. Loved 'em just as much this time, maybe more. Wish that they had played a bit longer.

  • Hear Cheap Trick's Latest

by luckydogjim on 12/5/09Ryman Auditorium - NashvilleRating: 4 out of 5

I was so excited when they announced this show. CT has been scheduled to open for Def Leppard twice this year but was canceled both times. Finally the show I wanted to see. Cheap Trick headlining. The way god intended. It was great. They sound awesome. I'm ready to go back. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is they didn't play long enough. About 90 minutes. I don't mean to be picky but how 'bout 2 sets with no support act. Next time play Ain't That A Shame. Still this might be my favorite show this year and I've seen about a dozen. It's been a good year for rock and roll in Nashville. Loved it.

Cheap Trick was freaking awesome at the Ryman. The band has still got it. I especially likes their version of "A Day in the Life." Rick Nielson has quite the collection of wacky guitars.

  • Cheap Trick still ROCKS

    by Breather408 on 12/5/09Ryman Auditorium - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

We love the Ryman and then you add Cheap Trick. Their performance was stellar, the sound at the Ryman was amazing and an intimate setting like they are there just for you. It made for a GREAT concert. Would recommend to anyone-it would make the a fan if they weren't already.

  • Cheap Trick

by NMuckler on 12/5/09Ryman Auditorium - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Greatest Rock and Roll Band Ever. They rocked from the first note to the last. They sounded great and were very on. I saw them this summer with Def Leppard - this was by far the better show for a Cheap Trick fan. When they open there is just not enough time. They need to be the headline and last night they were!

Great Show. Played a lot of great hits. Would of loved another half hour more. They started abour 8:46 and played a little over an hour. Would have like to hear more about how the songs were written or more intimate details about the group.

  • Cheap Trick Rocks!

    by Blkstrat73 on 12/4/09Ryman Auditorium - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

This was at least the 5th time I've seen CT over the years and last night at the Ryman Auditorium was the best yet! The sound quality was amazing, like listening to a really loud CD. The whole band just blistered the stage from start to finish with some funny commentary by Rick Nielson in between songs and changing one of his MANY cool guitars. The guitar show is always part of the gig, wouldn't know what to do if he played just one. I really took notice of Tom Peterson's playing this time around, that 12-string bass rattles your kidneys! Bun E. was amazing as always, but the surprise of the night had to be Robin Zander. Seriously, this guy blows away singers half his age and I could not believe how good he guy sounded! I mean, he didn't just go through the motions...the guy was belting it out for us! Didn't miss a note. Great set, great show, would go again tonight if I could. The ONLY sad part of it was that the opening act, reunited 90's Knoxville band Superdrag, got shafted by the sound guy. They are amazing too and you should pick up their stuff if you like amazingly well written Power/Pop/Rock songs.

  • Cheaptrick at the Ryman!!

by Melskin on 12/4/09Ryman Auditorium - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

What a fantastic show!! I had never been to the Ryman before. What a special place to see CT as they had never played there before. I loved hearing "She's Tight" and one of my favorites, "Tonight it's you." They also played "Don't be Cruel" and "Come on Come on" Rick showed off a new guitar that he bought that day in Nashville - sounded great!! We drove down from Lexington and it was worth every mile!! Hope they play there again soon!! My husband had just returned from a third trip to Afghanistan and seeing CT made it the perfect reunion date!!

  • Lived Up To What I Expected

by Visualfan on 12/4/09Ryman Auditorium - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

I've never seen Cheap Trick until last night and the wait was worth every minute of it! All band members, even though long in the tooth, were on their game. They played 2 songs off of The Latest and deep cuts as well as the hits. Wish they would have played Ain't That A Shame, but that's ok, the rest of the set list made up for it. I wish I hadn't waited so long to see them. Rick Nielsen is a character doing all of the emceeing. Robin Zander can still sing very well also. If you've never seen Cheap Trick before, well what are you waiting for? Go!

  • Cheap Trick Still Has "It!"

by dreampolice on 12/4/09Ryman Auditorium - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

After all these years, Cheap Trick still knows how to rock. They came out rocking and played a solid show for 1.5 hours straight at the world renowned Ryman Auditorium. Robin Zander's vocals were in top form, Bun E. Carlos' drumming tight, Rick Nielsen as strong as ever, and Tom Petersen played with style and finesse. The show was a great blend of old favorites, new gems, and several well-known covers. We've seen Cheap Trick perform live three times in the past 10 years, and can honestly say that these guys are getting better with age. If you're a fan of the band, or even just a fan of some good solid rock n' roll, then you won't want to miss this show when they come to a town near you!
