CHARLEY PRIDE IN CONCERT:
As one of the most successful African-American country artists of all time, Charley Pride stands as a pioneer of the genre and an enduring icon of traditional country music. With more than half a century of recordings and performances under his belt, Pride is a seasoned veteran on the road, traversing his decade-spanning discography with a care and tenderness that underscores his passion for the stage. From the familiar twang of "Is Anybody Goin' to San Antone" to the lap steel-drenched lilt of "Just Between You and Me," Pride covered all his greatest hits at his 2013 shows, drumming up enthusiasm for more of the same on his 2014 tour dates.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Born to poor Mississippi sharecroppers, Charley Pride had aspirations of being a major league baseball pitcher before an injury led him to invest in his other passion: music. After recording several demos in Memphis in the late '50s, pride signed with RCA, releasing his first single in 1966 with "The Snakes Crawl at Night." Pride's third single "Just Between You and Me" really broke things wide open, landing at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning him a Grammy nomination. In 1967, he became the second black performer to ever take the stage at the famed Grand Ole Opry, paving the way for an astonishing chart run that saw him score eight No. 1 records between 1969-1971. Pride has continued to record and tour over the decades, racking up an impressive array of country hits and proving himself an indefatigable performer with his continued showmanship on tour.

Charlie was great, but the seating in the venue made me feel like I was crushed in an airplane. It was not only very uncomfortable, it actually seemed pretty dangerous. Everyone left the concert through one tiny door, a recipe for disaster. I thought Charlie could have dressed a little nicer, he looked like he just got off his recliner and came in to sing, but he still has it and belted out all the favorites.
The show was sold out Charlie gave a great show you could tell he was showing his age worth the money standing ovation eveytime
Brought back some old Memories. Heard some songs I hadn’t heard in forever. Charlie still has it! Can’t believe he is 84!? 😮
At 84 years old, Charley Pride is still delivering a wonderful performance. Don’t let his age fool you, this country legend has still got it! You will not be disappointed!

Show was really good , only thing the seating at Seneca allganey is a bit too packed and sections are not marked well
My husband and I attended the Charlie Pride show on September 22 at the Allegany Seneca Casino. Regardless of his age - he still puts on a great show! We would definitely go again. The only thing we would do different is to sit closer to the stage.
Charley was not up to par the night of the show however the show must go on and it did and his performance was wonderful. I give the man 5 stars. Thank you Charley for a lifetime of memories
this charley pride concert was as country gets, he felt under the weather but still put on a hell of a show, he was on stage for 2 hours, it was a great great show,
Have seen him several times and even being 84 he was as great as ever.
He was sick during the show. Had to leave stage three times to vomit
First let me say, we have seen Charley Pride approximately 6 times. We saw him in Branson, MO., Nashville, TN, Grapevine Texas and the show on Saturday 9/22 was the worst show we have ever seen. He was 15 - 20 minutes late starting the show, then he left the stage 2 - 3 times to go to the bathroom. When facing the stage, he stayed on the left side or the middle, very seldom came to the right side of the stage. He did more talking than singing. Never finished a lot of the songs and needed help as he forgot the words of songs (beginning, middle and end) We were very disappointed in the show. My husband wanted to leave after the first 15 - 20 minutes. It was a complete waste of $110.00 dollars.
It was a great show!! We could actually sit and enjoy it. The speakers were not blasting us out of the room. A little more setting room would be nice, but over all it was a great show.
What a show for an 80+ performer. His talent and love of music is never changing. Have been blessed by attending his concerts over the years. Thanks and God Bless you Charley...
This show with Charlie Pride was amazing, he is getting up there in age but he still has it....seen him years ago and got my picture taken with him..
Charley was fantastic!!! Love him, great guy, great American, still has it!!! Don't care for the smoky casino, but the personnel were friendly, the seats not bad.
Looks great for his age and great entertainer. Only improvement would to have elevated seats brought into area and if there was a way to keep traffic down during the performance.
I took my mom and a friend of mine to see him and it was an awesome show! I didn't know he was so funny as well as a talented singer. He had the whole audience laughing in between songs. He is one of the old time country greats!!!
We saw Charley Pride many, many years ago and enjoyed his music & humor very much. He is 80 now but his voice is still the same, amazing!!!! Love his interaction with the crowd also. Would definitely go see him again and recommend his show to everyone.
We went to the concert at Cypress Bayou Casino this past weekend. I have grown up listening to Charley Pride and I can say for an 84 year old, he still has it! This is a show that I would recommend to anyone who was raised listening to the "classic country". Charley Pride, thanks for a wonderful concert. P.S. The new CD's are awesome also!
