About

It has been more than ten years since Celtic Woman first captured America's imagination with its self-titled first public television special.  That historic concert performance launched a genuine cultural phenomenon, introducing millions of new fans to the group's fresh fusion of traditional Irish music, contemporary studio craft and state-of-the-art stage production.

Since then, Celtic Woman's evocative, uplifting music has touched the hearts of a devoted audience that spans the globe.  In addition releasing CDs and DVDs that have become multi-platinum best-sellers, the group has continued to perform in front of capacity crowds on a series of sold-out concert tours.

Having been named Billboard magazine's World Albums Artist of the Year six times, Celtic Woman is a one-of-a-kind musical entity that showcases four gifted young Irish women: three world-class vocalists and a brilliant Celtic violinist, whose talent and charisma help to bring centuries of musical and cultural tradition to vibrant life in the group's recordings and concert performances.

Celtic Woman puts on the most amazing shows.

by lupin on 2/14/10DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

I asked my husband to go to Celtic Woman last year when they were in Raleigh. after he saw them, HE said if they are ever in the area again, we are there. Durham this year! Each was fabulous. They are fabulous. The singing is as incredible as one would expect, but the lights, background singers, musicians and of course, Moirdre-what a great combination. thanks for having them.

    Celtic Woman was unbeliveable

by FuquayJ on 2/14/10DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

We had watched Celtic Woman specials on UNC for several years and were exited to learn they were performing in Durham. We were absolutely blown away with the live performance. Even the light show would have been amazing by itself. We were very impressed with the pedrformance on such a small area. The TV specials are shot on very large areas, like in front of a castle.

    Overflowing with Talent!

by RobFromRaleigh on 2/14/10DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

First time I have been to a concert such as this, and it certainly won't be the last! Each member of this group is so talented, and together they make a perfect package. Each one of the women has their own special talent, be it singing, dancing, the fiddle, etc. The choir adds depth, the drummers keep the beat strong, and each instrument player does an outstanding job portraying the emotions of the songs. The songs are a good range of upbeat songs about dancing/partying to hymns to sentimental/emotional songs. The wide range of songs reflects that wide range of talents of each member within this group. Parts of this show brought the audience laughter; other parts tears; and still other parts were best enjoyed clapping to the beat of the music. I look forward to seeing what new works this group will come out with. And I hope they will bring Christmas cheer to North Carolina in the future because after this show, I have to believe that any Christmas concert they put on would be phenomenal!

    Amazing Celtic Woman

by bubbadogs on 2/14/10DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

I was very disappointed in the "orchestra" seats we purchased. Little did we know that the seats were in the last aisle of the entire auditorium. Other venues would have been ashamed to claim these seats as "orchestra." The show was best in the first half. The second half had a couple of songs that did not do justice to the angelic voices of the singers. The lighting effects were awesome. The most energetic performances were clearly the drummers and the female violinist. Would go again but be very carerful about my choice of seating.

Celtica Woman Song from the Hart

by LenoreS on 2/14/10DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

These women's voices are so good they don't sound real. They are more like angels. I liked the mix of contemporary and popular songs (my favorites being "You'll Be in My Heart" and "When You Believe") and the more traditional Celtic music.

    Beyond Words

by 10rgramma on 2/14/10DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

What words go beyond awesome, inspiring, mesmerizing? Celtic Woman's music speaks to your very soul, from the highs of the toe-tapping, light-hearted jigs and fun tunes to the lows of the "loved in vain" ballads and haunting melodies. They cover the gamut of emotions and bring the crowd right along with them. Their onstage presence and interaction with the audience make you feel they are doing the whole concert just for you and loving every minute of it. There's no way not to be completely drawn in; you immediately feel like you are the best of friends.

    AMAZING

by amigirl on 2/14/10DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

I have seen Celtic Woman in the past and their shows are usually amazing, This one however, was the best one i ve seen yet. The harmonies beween these 4 women, suggest that the have been singing to gether all their lives, you can tell that they have a genuine affection for each other, and that makes what they do all the more outstanding. The choir and the band only serve to enhance the musical experience. These performers give me goose bumps every time i see them.

    1. Excellent performance 2. Extremely annoying lightning. On occasion the high beams would be directed straight into the eyes of the audience.

Celtic Women will make tears well up in your eyes

by BudFromApex on 2/14/10DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

My wife and I enjoyed the PBS Celtic Women special over the Christmas Holidays. Every time a commercial would come on she would say I sure would love to see them. So with Valentines day and our anniversary a week away I logged on to ticket master and and printed out the tickets. We are not concert goers but this one was well worth it, the DPAC is a great place to enjoy a concert, there is not a bad seat, and the acoustics are great. The Celtic Women are phenomenal and the supporting musicians are center stage as well, a big part of the act. I highly recommend this concert Songs of the Heart to music lovers of all ages. And yes one of their final songs, You Raise Me Up, will raise a tear in a grown man's eye.
