CELTIC ILLUSION “REIMAGINED”

Celtic Illusion, the premier Irish Dance and Grand Illusion sensation that audiences are going crazy over returns to Melbourne this September

The daring world first fusion features exciting new choreography, impossible illusions, remastered classics and captivating orchestral music that will blow you away. This is a sensory experience like no other. Fans who have previously witnessed this world class spectacle will be left on the edge of their seats as we push the boundaries of Irish Dance and Illusion further than ever before.

Showcasing a stellar cast of champion and internationally-acclaimed dancers, including performers from both Riverdance and Lord of the Dance, Celtic Illusion offers some of the fastest taps in the world as the dancers’ thunderous rhythm fills the stage in perfect unison. The show is led by Australia’s very own Anthony Street, the first Australian to perform leading roles in Michael Flatley’s widely-acclaimed Lord of the Dance, including the very role that Michael Flatley originally performed himself.

The show is an exhilarating journey bright with colour, passion and athleticism. The unique combination of two incredible art forms is an unforgettable theatrical experience for the whole family to enjoy.

  • Entertaining

by Billbluenose on 5/6/22Shea's Performing Arts Center - BuffaloRating: 3 out of 5

Great dancing. Magic ok. Singing average. Sound poor.(problem with Sheas in general) Voices and flute muffled. Apparently tap shoe sounds were recorded playback, uncoordinated at times. Not necessarily appropriate. Overall entertaining.

It was very different than what I was expecting but I absolutely loved it. The dancing is incredible.

  • Broadway Singer

by Wren on 5/2/22Leon's Centre - KingstonRating: 3 out of 5

Overall the event was entertaining. The dancers were good the flutist and fiddler were great on the other hand the singer wasn't very Celtic and sounded more like she was in a Broadway show. The show needs more polish to connect the dancing sequences together and the lead male ldancer did a lot of wandering around the stage with no apparent purpose. They could use more stage background there was a lot of just black curtain. The illusions were well done and the lighting was good.

a nice simple story of dance speaking the universal language while celebrating aspects of Celtic cultural the singer, violinist and flute player provided a well rounded experience for myself and my mom. I enjoyed this experience and was happy to take my mom for her birthday 🎂

  • Good show but not great

    by C. B. on 4/25/22Rating: 3 out of 5

The dancing was very exciting to watch but wish there had been more illusions during the dance and just more magic overall. Some very odd filler sections especially with the singer, would not be missed without her.

  • Tap takes the roof off!

by Colleen on 4/15/22Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Absolutely loved the mixture of Celtic Dance, the mystery of illusion and the strong singing voice! The precision of each presentation was beyond what was expected. To have that many dancers on stage at the same time and have them never miss a step was awesome! Music was haunting and so suitable! I do think the show would have started off better with a verbal introduction from the lead dancer. The arrangements are too complex to just swing into it and expect the crowd to follow when we do not have an appreciation as to what we are viewing. A narrative would personalize it.

  • Subpar illusions and Every Scene was the same

by Tazz on 4/15/22Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 1 out of 5

Subpar illusions and magic that failed most of the time. When the curtains opened you could still see the stage hands setting up. It could do without that random singer singing what seemed to be the same song time and time again. Every Scene with the dancers felt like groundhog day with a different costume. It didnt even have a story line. 😔 we were going to leave during 1st intermission but went back in for more pain through the 2nd half.

  • Great show, awesome performance.

by Morgan on 4/15/22Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

the performance was amazing and they did a great job. One item that was very frustrating was that the Jubilee staff allowed people to arrive 30 minutes late and to stumble into the performance to try and find their seat. This blocked the view of the stage for the performance. I wish there were consequences of not planning properly that if you showed up late, you were unable to get into the show and you missed your chance.

The show was phenomenal! The Illusions and Dancing. All the Dancers were great. My husband said about the illusions” That’s some David Copperfield right there!” I would recommend anyone to see the show. I wish I had brought my grandchildren.

  • Thrilling!

So well choreographed and smooth. The time flew by and before we knew it the performance was over. Highly recommend ❤️

  • Meh…

by Mom on 4/13/22Angel Of The Winds Arena - EverettRating: 3 out of 5

Honestly it was a bit like attending a dance recital. The dancers were great but the show was repetitive, the singer was boring (clearly buying time for costume changes) and the set looked pretty dismal.

  • Delightful evening with exceptional entertainers

by Joy on 4/10/22Angel Of The Winds Arena - EverettRating: 5 out of 5

A very engaging, joy-filled evening experiencing talented dancers, marvelous musicians & singer, along with some entertaining illusions. Enjoyed every minute!

  • Nice Performance

Great dancing and music. Energetic show. Magic was not fantastic, but added a fun twist to the show.

  • Great fun

by Emory on 4/10/22Angel Of The Winds Arena - EverettRating: 5 out of 5

Exactly as advertised! Lots of clogging, some magic, and excellent solo singer, an excellent flautists with several solos and a duet with a tremendous violinist! I could see the same show a dozen times!

by Watcher on 4/10/22Angel Of The Winds Arena - EverettRating: 3 out of 5

The performers really have a ton of talent. That isnt in question. The issues are with the narrative of the performance. They use the same disappearing reappearing magic trick over and over even though its painfully obvious how it's done. Theres also zero narrative in the story whatsoever. They have a woman (again, very talented) come out and sing about completely random and often contradictory things and, as my wife said, comes across as someone reading their 15 year old goth poetry.

This show was absolutely one of the best shows I have seen. I wish it was longer but I’m not the one dancing hahaha. This was a date nite with my husband and he had no idea what it was all about until he saw it. He was just as thrilled and captivated as myself. I hope more of these types of shows come more often to Calgary. Thank you to all the dancers and staff that work the events.
