About

CATS is the longest running musical in Broadway history, debuting in 1982 and finally closing on Broadway in September, 2000. Written by famed composer Andrew Lloyd Weber (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Evita, The Phantom of the Opera) and based on T.S. Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, this musical still remains a favorite with audiences nationwide. CATS tells the story of the Jellicles, a tribe of cats who assemble for their annual junkyard ball where they announce the cat that will be reborn. "Memory," the show's most memorable song (sung by the character Grizabella) quickly became a pop vocal favorite and has been recorded by over 150 artists including Barbra Streisand, Barry Manilow and Judy Collins. The show's appeal also appears to be universal, as it has been translated into over 20 languages. As time and ticket sales have proven, CATS is undoubtedly one of the most beloved stage musicals of all time.

by Janet on 6/17/23Neal S Blaisdell Concert Hall - Honolulu

This was such a fun evening. I was not sure if my husband and I would get into it but we were on the edge of our seats the entire evening. Outstanding singers, dancers, and orchestra. We loved everything about it.

I love CATS. Saw the original in Honolulu in the 80s

by Dee Kay on 6/17/23Neal S Blaisdell Concert Hall - Honolulu

The new show has incredible dancers. The special effects were amazing. The singing now embrace operatic talent. However, the sound was way, way WAY too loud. The very first number music was at 10, singers had to try and sing over the music. When sound starts at 10, there is no room for UP. Combine the too loud music with opera and much of the words were lost. This was the unanimous conclusion of the 4 in our group. The sound was way to loud, vocals were garbled.

    Meh

    by E. R. on 6/17/23

This was the weirdest musical I've ever seen. Whoever created this mustve been on drugs. Best way to describe the music is like a bad trip at a circus. Some parts were pretty entertaining and some parts were dull and boring af. Dont buy good seats cuz it wasnt worth it. I spend 60 each for 2 tickets and im so glad i didnt spend 90 each for them. After intermission the show just got worse even more boring and dull. People left lol.

It was an awesome show, i definitely recommend it.

The only downside was the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. For a theater with that name and reputation, you would think they would care a little more for their customers comfort then just making money. The seats were way too close together and my knees were crammed up against the seat in front if me. I only 5' 6", so i don't have long legs. It was a very uncomfortable 2 hours, but the show was amazing.

    Long Time Coming

by Ashua on 5/30/23Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

I loved this showing of Cats (2023). I am so glad I went. I use to watch this play all the time as a kid on VHS at home. There was a 1998 version of this play and it came on 3 VHS tapes. My sister and I watched it regularly. We were just so enamored by the costumes, the acting, the musical, the stage, and everything. I love this performance!

    The movie should never

by Starkly on 5/30/23Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Have been made. Cats is meant to be experienced LIVE. It's a ridiculous concept, with virtually no plot and a bunch of actors acting like animals. It's campy, weird, and yet somehow? It all works. I surprised myself when, during the peak of "Memory", I had tears streaming down my face. I don't even like AL Webber - but I loved this show.

    Phenomenal

by Tiffy on 5/29/23Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

I see most of the Broadway across canada shows with my husband. We’ve seen Phantom, Pretty Woman, Cinderella, Dirty Dancing just to name a few. When I found out about Cats, I had to go. My husband surprised me with tickets in the very, very front row, I could touch the cats that’s how close I was. The show was nothing short of perfection. I’m not easy to impress when it comes to love theatre because I’ve been going since I was 7, so to say this was incredible I’m not just saying it, it was phenomenal. The element of talent was beyond comparison. The choreography, the singing. If you don’t see this show, then you’re missing out on something special. It truly made a memory for us that I’ll keep with me forever.

Was way better than the 3 hour movie. Dont base your judgements on that. The musical was much more enjoyable.

The worst production I’ve ever seen!

    by TR on 5/24/23

I have seen dozens of performances but this one has to be THE only one that was terrible enough to get. 1/10 rating. No storyline to follow, Almost ever song sounded the same, the lyrics were on repeat, no choreograph talent to show.. this is one where you walk away with PTSD and never want to see another performance ever again. I should have been payed to watch while being tormented. This was a huge disappointment.

Excellent show! Very talented performers! Hadn't seen Cats since it played at the Shubert many years ago... Loved it then, and really loved this performance! Had to drive from Orange County, but it was worth it.
