Carolina Panthers Team History

The Carolina Panthers became the 29th National Football League franchise on October 26, 1993. They played their inaugural season in 1995, finishing 7-9 and setting an all-time best opening season record for an NFL expansion team. They also beat the San Francisco 49ers in their inaugural season, becoming the first expansion team to defeat a reigning Super Bowl champion in their first year of play.

Since their start, the Panthers have won six division titles, including three consecutive NFC South division titles from 2013-15 under coach Ron Rivera. The Panthers have made it to the playoffs eight times, winning two NFC Championships and appearing in the Super Bowl twice. Under coach Rivera, they made four playoff appearances in a five-year span from 2013–2017, tying Green Bay and Seattle for the most NFC playoff appearances during that time. In that five-year span, the Panthers recorded 51 wins, the most in any five-year period in franchise history, and tied for fifth-most in the NFL.

Their first Super Bowl appearance was in 2004 for Super Bowl XXXVIII, then Super Bowl 50 in 2016, following what was the Panthers’ most dominant season to date, going 15-1 with quarterback and MVP Cam Newton.

    Great Seats

by Dyson on 9/1/09Bank of America Stadium - Charlotte

What a vacation! My husband & son was so excited about going to the game. When we arrived they could not believe how good the seats were. My 15 year old son said he could see the cheerleaders up close & that was a bonus for him. Steve Smith & Ray Lewis was the highlight of my night. The weather was great. I can not wait to go again. We must work a lot of overtime for that...

Panthers off to a good start?

by Chpstaker on 9/1/09Bank of America Stadium - Charlotte

Great game, but who really cares about the preseason? Once the Panthers have thier full starting line back, they are on the way back to the playoffs.

    The Carolina Panthers are great

by Jamerr on 8/31/09Bank of America Stadium - Charlotte

Well to begin, this is my first NFL game. It was facinating. Just to go out and watch your home team. The view was wonderful. The excitement of the people to include us was great. They played there heart out for a preseason game. We were excited and enjoyed the game. If you have never been to a professional football game, you are missing all of the action. You can't get that feeling on TV. You have to be out there with the full impact. This was a great game and I am looking forward to the next game. Great game and a great teaam. Go Panthers.

    Panthers game-not too shabby

by ktorok on 8/31/09Bank of America Stadium - Charlotte

My first pro football game, even though pre-season, was pretty good. Highly recommend going at least once. Had fun, the only drawback is the sidewalk back to the parking lot was unlit and thankfully there were event workers with flashlights to light the path. All in all though, great fun. Got to "high five" Sir Purr, always good.

    1st Game-w-Horrible

by AWPantherFan on 8/31/09Bank of America Stadium - Charlotte

The Panthers played very badly, alot of people including myself left at the end of the 3rd quarter. Considering what I paid for tickets, I was very dissappointed. But I do hope the team picks things up for the next game..... Also the half time show was not that entertaining. They need to step this up as well!!

    Ravens undefeated!

by bullcity64 on 8/30/09Bank of America Stadium - Charlotte

The Ravens are undefeated in preseason. They totally dominated the Panthers and truly look like playoff contenders for the AFC.
