Carolina Panthers Team History

The Carolina Panthers became the 29th National Football League franchise on October 26, 1993. They played their inaugural season in 1995, finishing 7-9 and setting an all-time best opening season record for an NFL expansion team. They also beat the San Francisco 49ers in their inaugural season, becoming the first expansion team to defeat a reigning Super Bowl champion in their first year of play.

Since their start, the Panthers have won six division titles, including three consecutive NFC South division titles from 2013-15 under coach Ron Rivera. The Panthers have made it to the playoffs eight times, winning two NFC Championships and appearing in the Super Bowl twice. Under coach Rivera, they made four playoff appearances in a five-year span from 2013–2017, tying Green Bay and Seattle for the most NFC playoff appearances during that time. In that five-year span, the Panthers recorded 51 wins, the most in any five-year period in franchise history, and tied for fifth-most in the NFL.

Their first Super Bowl appearance was in 2004 for Super Bowl XXXVIII, then Super Bowl 50 in 2016, following what was the Panthers’ most dominant season to date, going 15-1 with quarterback and MVP Cam Newton.

    Delhomme for M(in)VP!!!

by ochocinco09 on 9/14/09Bank of America Stadium - Charlotte

Anytime you can see a live NFL event, doesn't matter the venue or the teams playing, it's one of the most electrifying things to watch! I'm first and foremost a Bengals fan, but since I live in the CLT area, I pull for the Panthers. I just really wanted to see a good game, but this one was over in the 2nd Qtr. thanks to the incredible play of Delhomme lol! At least I still have the Vikings game to see!

    ouch!

by bugman1 on 9/14/09Bank of America Stadium - Charlotte

I feel bad for Panthers, who are obviously much better than they played on Sunday. Hopefully, this got it out of their system for the year! Go, Panthers!

    Great Seats.

The game was a bummer but the seats were great. Would love to have the same tickets again and hopefully the Panthers will fare better next time.

    too pricey

by Tulip2 on 9/9/09Bank of America Stadium - Charlotte

Love, Love, Love the Panthers! But games are too pricey. We are an average family of four and for the very top seats (literally) in the stadium, parking and a shared snack, the total cost was $225.00. Just not something most of us can do very often. We will save again for a Panthers game next season. Go Panther!!!!

    Pittsburgh at Carolina preseason game

by MissyMe on 9/8/09Bank of America Stadium - Charlotte

Had a blast! Unfortunately, couldn't get the best seats so I couldn't see as well as I would've liked, but the game was amazing and the event staff were super nice, even though I was decked out in my Steeler stuff! One Panther fan sitting in front of me had the misfortune of my Terrible Towel accidently brushing against his head and as I profusely apologized, he just laughed and said 'i'm hot anyway, the breeze felt good!'. So, bottom line, the event was great, the staff was great and the fans were great! Made my first Steeler game an awesome experience!

The game was BIG Fun. May not have been for the Panthers. But surely was a great game for the Steeler, since they dominated the stadium and won the game. Football season is here!

    100 yard return

by syldar on 9/4/09Bank of America Stadium - Charlotte

WOW what a game, if you got there late you missed the return kick where the steeler ran for a touch down in the beginning of the first quarter. The game was full of excitement and Pittsburgh fans showed out.

    Panthers vs. Steelers

by Skib22 on 9/4/09Bank of America Stadium - Charlotte

I love my Panthers, but they need some assistance! I would've liked to see the starters from both teams play a bit longer. Seats were great! The game was a disappointment.

    true fan

by dawn1968 on 9/4/09Bank of America Stadium - Charlotte

i went with high expectations of the game and was not let down. i am a die hard Panther (Steve Smith) fan. i really wished that we would have gotten to see more of the starter play rather than the rookies. i say that because ticketes were the same price as a regular game.

    what a defense

by Slim101 on 9/4/09Bank of America Stadium - Charlotte

We had good seats to the game, but we would have had much better seating if i had known i could attend the game sooner. It was a last minute for us and ticketmasters still came through and had some good seats. I would encourage everyone to contact ticket masters as soon as you know you can attend an event and purchase your tickets early. They have a great selection of seating at the best prices, however, it is also good to know if you need them at the last minute, like me, you can still get good seating from ticket masters.
