Carly Rae Jepsen in Concert
After multi-platinum Grammy, Juno and Polaris Prize nominated singer/songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen released her critically acclaimed album E·MO·TION in 2015, it became "a modern touchstone for a new crop of pop-leaning artists and legacy acts," as NPR noted. The album also inspired an abundance of memes — extending the cultural cachet that Jepsen earned from the ubiquity of her GRAMMY® -nominated blockbuster hit "Call Me Maybe" (from her U.S debut album Kiss), which not only climbed to No. 1 on the iTunes Singles charts in over 47 countries, sold over 20 million singles worldwide, and was certified Diamond in the U.S., but was referenced by everyone from former secretary-of-state Colin Powell to Cookie Monster.
Jepsen's most recent album, 2019's Dedicated, retains the joyful, hook-filled feeling of its predecessor. But where E*MO*TION was an '80s-influenced synth-pop classic that Rolling Stone called "a pop masterclass" and Stereogum called "indisputable, unfuckwithable pop genius," Dedicated has a more '70s-inspired feel at times, though the album defies categorization as a whole, with Vulture stating, "Dedicated is both stranger and freer than the last record, but it also feels more confident and considered." Working with a crew of trusted songwriters and producers, among them John Hill, Jack Antonoff, Captain Cuts, Patrik Berger, and her longtime collaborator Tavish Crowe, Jepsen indulged in more sonic experimentation than she had in the past. Dedicated features the fan favorites "Party For One," "Now That I Found You," "No Drug Like Me" and "Julien."
Jepsen landed the lead role in the 2014 Broadway production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella and later starred as the iconic Pink Lady, "Frenchy," in FOX's four-time EMMY award winning musical GREASE: LIVE. Jepsen voiced the character of Odette in the animated movie "LEAP!," which also featured Jepsen's song "Cut To The Feeling."
Carly Rae Jepsen on Tour
Following the release of Dedicated Jepsen embarked on a global tour playing to audiences at venues like the Arizona Federal Theatre in North America, as well as crowds in Japan, China, Australia, Canada and Europe. Jepsen will return to the U.S. later this year for performances at Coachella and Governor's Ball.
I enjoyed her opening act The Wanted more than her performance
Great show but the billing was backwards. Carly Rea came on first. we almost missed it.
The show was great from beginning to end..Carly Rae was awesome and even though we mainly went to see The Wanted, we were really glad we got to see her. The Wanted put on a great show and the fan involvement was the best I've ever seen! They went above and beyond to make their fans have " the best night ever"!!! They sounded awesome live too!
The Carly Rae Jepsen & The Wanted concert was amazing!
Carly Rae Jepsen was pretty good. She was not feeling well. The Wanted was Amazing! So much energy! Can't wait for world Tour!!
The Wanted played all of their hits, sounded great and thoroughly entertained the crowd. The crowd was on their feet from start to finish. We were fortunate enough to meet the group after the show and they were the epitome of grace and class. These lads were so kind and attentive to their fans, I really hope they continue their rise up the charts and into the hearts of even more fans!
I wasn't totally impressed w Carly rae, but the wanted was fantastic! Not only is their music perfrct they really put on a great show. they totally were playful and funny and were do interactive with the audience! I will for sure see them again!
OK, my girls and I won tickets to see Carly Rae and we were there early so we decided to watch the opening band named New Hollow. We never heard of them and didn't expect much but that changed fast! They came out and were incredible! They play their own instruments and they are gorgeous! By the time their set ended, they had 3 new fans! Carly Rae was kinda boring, "Call Me Maybe" was OK I guess but we went and got in line for New Hollow's meet and greet so we could be at the front of the line.
Great show, great venue... Lights are amazing... Could be better if there were more people
Carly Rae Jepsen can definitely put on a great show. I love how she interacts with the crowd. I would definitely love to see her in concert again!!
So disappointed! New Hollow a Was awesome but, Carley Rae bombed! At one point, she was singing a repetitish song and when she stopped for the crowd to continue... well there were crickets. Venue was great so we were excited and very let down. Waste of money.
Up until now, I've never been a Carly Rae Jepsen fan. I always thought she sounded not-so-great when she performed on TV. I went to this concert to see the opening act, which was originally supposed to be Hot Chelle Rae, but was later changed to New Hollow, who I love as well. I planned to stay through Carly's set regardless. New Hollow was awesome and it's always great seeing them! Carly's set was pretty simple, but I very surprised. I actually thought she sounded good. She was very interactive with the audience. She sounds much better in person than she does through the television screen. She played all of the songs I knew of hers. I had a great time! I probably wouldn't go out of my way to see her again, but I had a lot of fun! I gained respect for Carly after the concert.
The concert was overall amazing. I wouldn't change much. The one thing I would have made different was make a screen for those who were seated on the lawn. Just to be able to see better.
Great venue, very kid/family friendly. Carly Rae Jepson was supposed to close the show but played earlier, followed by Zedd, and Cher Lloyd closed. We drive 4 hours to see Cher Lloyd, my daughters favorite, and she was by far the best of the night. Glad it got switched around and Cher Lloyd closed.
Loved the whole show, but ZEDD topped it all! The combination of music, screen show and lights were just amazing.
Well for being a reasonably priced concert I thought that I would take my daughter to her first concert since her favorite band was SUPPOSE to play. However, after waiting and waiting , we were told they were not coming. The house was NOT full and yet they would not allow people until the end to go into the mosh pit. And the biggest disappointment was the shirts. My daughter really wanted one but they handed them all out right away and then ONLY threw them into the pit. So some were going home with three or four shirts while others left empty handed. Not sure I would go again.
good Concert, but wished Cher Lloyd sang her own songs instead of someone else's. also instead of strutting like a (peacock) all over the stage, she should have danced a bit. Emblem 3 was awesome also!! liked how they were dressed!
Too long between sets. InconaPop didn't show up. Only people near the stage got t shirts. Disappointing all the way around.
With Icona Pop a no show, Hot 100.5 would have pleased the fans to no end, if they'd have worked a deal with Cher Lloyd to perform an encore. Far from Pat Benatar (41 years her senior) in terms of musical style, Cher's powerful vocals, petite frame, and sassy stage presence combined wonderfully, and served to remind me of one of my first concert experiences nearly 30 years ago in Syracuse's Landmark Theater. Honestly, I'm not quite sure why Cher's brand of pop music, infused with a slightly edgy hip hop style, isn't more popular on America's charts. My 11-year old daughter, and her classmate who I escorted to the concert were animated throughout! Thanks Cher!!!
This was my 8 year old daughters first concert. Overall she had a blast but was upset with Icona Pop not showing up. Other than that, she loved it.
