Carly Rae Jepsen in Concert
After multi-platinum Grammy, Juno and Polaris Prize nominated singer/songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen released her critically acclaimed album E·MO·TION in 2015, it became "a modern touchstone for a new crop of pop-leaning artists and legacy acts," as NPR noted. The album also inspired an abundance of memes — extending the cultural cachet that Jepsen earned from the ubiquity of her GRAMMY® -nominated blockbuster hit "Call Me Maybe" (from her U.S debut album Kiss), which not only climbed to No. 1 on the iTunes Singles charts in over 47 countries, sold over 20 million singles worldwide, and was certified Diamond in the U.S., but was referenced by everyone from former secretary-of-state Colin Powell to Cookie Monster.
Jepsen's most recent album, 2019's Dedicated, retains the joyful, hook-filled feeling of its predecessor. But where E*MO*TION was an '80s-influenced synth-pop classic that Rolling Stone called "a pop masterclass" and Stereogum called "indisputable, unfuckwithable pop genius," Dedicated has a more '70s-inspired feel at times, though the album defies categorization as a whole, with Vulture stating, "Dedicated is both stranger and freer than the last record, but it also feels more confident and considered." Working with a crew of trusted songwriters and producers, among them John Hill, Jack Antonoff, Captain Cuts, Patrik Berger, and her longtime collaborator Tavish Crowe, Jepsen indulged in more sonic experimentation than she had in the past. Dedicated features the fan favorites "Party For One," "Now That I Found You," "No Drug Like Me" and "Julien."
Jepsen landed the lead role in the 2014 Broadway production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella and later starred as the iconic Pink Lady, "Frenchy," in FOX's four-time EMMY award winning musical GREASE: LIVE. Jepsen voiced the character of Odette in the animated movie "LEAP!," which also featured Jepsen's song "Cut To The Feeling."
Carly Rae Jepsen on Tour
Following the release of Dedicated Jepsen embarked on a global tour playing to audiences at venues like the Arizona Federal Theatre in North America, as well as crowds in Japan, China, Australia, Canada and Europe. Jepsen will return to the U.S. later this year for performances at Coachella and Governor's Ball.
Carly Rae Jepsen is a hit! Her vocals was excellent live. Her overall concert was great. We enjoyed the display of confetti and balloons.
The Wanted were charming, entertaining, and did a great cover of the The Killers. They appeared to enjoy performing. Carly Rae Jepsen sounded good put lacked enthusiasm for her own music. Running her hands through her hair is not a good show. Each performance was pretty brief.
I took my 17 year old daughter who really likes CRJ from seeing her open for Justin Bieber. It was a disappointment to see The Wanted play for way longer as the opening act. CRJ only played for about 45 minutes at most.
It was fantastic in every respect. Unforgettable. I screamed so loud i had a sore throat for a while. I am still thinking about it several days later. Even though I personally favor The Wanted over Carly Rae, the whole thing was entertaining. I think anyone would have enjoyed it even if they aren't a crazed fan like me :P
Most of the time, you see a concert for the headliner. It is a huge disappointment when the opening act plays longer than the headliner you came to see.
My step daughters and I had a blast!!! Awesome girls weekend!!
Both Carly Rae and The Wanted were absolutely amazing! I enjoyed Carly Rae's part a little bit more, but that's my own personal opinion. I would definitely go see either of them again!! Plus, there were little surprises like confetti, balloons, and fireworks during Carly Rae's section that everyone went crazy for! Especially young children. The Wanted even brought a few lucky girls onto stage and sang to them. Adorable!
The show was great! Loved the fireworks at the end. The only problem was with buying Tshirts! They only had ONE PERSON actually working the area!!! I thought that was nuts!! Also would be great if they had kid sizes available. The concert itself was decent. The Wanted could have played some more songs. Only reason being .....is that we make the trip just to see them. (From suburbs of Chicago to Des Moines) with 3 children!!
Would definitely see The Wanted again. The venue is great for the sound.
The Wanted was a great band and did a FABULOUS performance! I would see them again. However I felt that Carly was NOT a good stage performer and should stay in the studio and on the radio. If she wants to perform she needs to learn how to get the crowd involved and have a stage presence. I left after 4 songs of Carly and regretted having to stay at the Fair for her.
The wanted was amazing. Calry Rae Jepsen is very awkward on stage. The energy from the crowd was definitely for the wanted. The stage was also very tiny. You had to have a good seat to see them. I can't wait to see them on their world tour.
This was a very good show all together. But The Wanted opened for Carly Rae Jepsen and they seemed to steal the show away from her. They will be the next big thing. Overall my kids enjoyed the show so in turn I enjoyed the show
At this concert The Wanted was Amazing. The guys were sweet, considerate and funny. They sound almost exactly like their recordings! We had a wonderful time watching and listening to them. We stayed for very little of Carly Rae....but could hear her from outside the open air grandstand...not impressed.
The concert was not what was expected. Stage was too small, concert was short for the prices paid, and not really entertaining at all. Pretty boring. We considered leaving before the concert was even over. Left disappointed. The Wanted was better than Carly performance wise.
We attended in order to see The Wanted and were not disappointed - high energy, great sound, pretty "family friendly" for the most part. Best song = Found You! They really need more songs though... so don't have to resort to playing other band's music. They seemed to have some good musicians behind them. Nathan seemed rather stuck up - tone it down kid. We found Carly Rae Jepsen boring and left after 3 songs. I am not familiar with her music other than the overplayed hit song and got tired of watching her play with her hair. Uninteresting and repetitive. The only good part in 3 songs was when the guitar player sang!
Nice family show, great stage performance by both groups. Will be great when Carly has more popular songs.
We saw the Wanted first and was pleasantly surprised. I only knew one of their songs, but they had some really nice music. I will check out their music later. There was no choreography--just the 5 guys goofing off. Then came Carly Rae. She was very cute in her little mini skirt. Her props were her microphone, microphone stand and some stairs in the middle of the stage. And after one or two songs, she exhausted all she had rehearsed. She kept running her fingers through her hair and acting cute over and over again. That got old real fast. It was my daughter's first concert and she enjoyed it, but I would have to give her 2 stars out of 5.
The Wanted was the best concert ever!!! Seats were good could see the stage perfect.
The concert was great! I surprised my 4 year old with the tickets since she loves Carly Rae Jepson. She had a blast.
We loved The Wanted but could do without Carley Rea Jepson.
